MPTDC hotel accounts officer booked for embezzlement of Rs 52L
Ujjain: Neelganga police on Tuesday booked the accounts officer of Hotel Kshipra Residency — run by Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation — for embezzlement of Rs52 lakh. "The embezzlement took place at the corporation's hotel from 2017-18 to 2022. Following a complaint, an investigation committee examined the entire matter. It was revealed that during the said period, the accountant manipulated the daily sales summary report, which was online for local accounting purposes, thereby executing the embezzlement. The manipulation resulted in a fraud of approximately Rs52 lakh," said Kuril.

MDMA seized in Ujjain, one arrested
Ujjain: Neelganga police in Ujjain arrested a man and seized 10.50 grams of MDMA from him on Tuesday night. Irfan Lala, 37, a resident of Jabran Colony, Begambagh, Ujjain, was apprehended near the railway tracks ahead of old Chintaman bridge based on a tip-off. The accused was arrested under Section 8/22 of NDPS Act and taken to the police station for custody. Station in-charge Tarun Kuril said that the accused was caught red-handed during a search on Tuesday night based on the informant's tip. The accused attempted to flee upon seeing the police but was captured after a chase. A transparent packet was found in the right pocket of his cargo pants, containing MD drugs weighing 10.50 grams. The drugs were seized in the presence of witnesses. A mobile phone and a motorcycle without a number plate were also confiscated from the accused. On Wednesday, the accused was presented before the First Class Judicial Magistrate and was remanded to police custody for two days. According to TI Kuril, the accused will be questioned about the source and supplier of the drugs.
