2027 prospect Braylon Williams includes Longhorns in his top 20
Over the last few weeks the Texas Longhorns have been busy on the recruiting trail. On Saturday they continued to get good news when 2027 prospect Braylon Williams announced his top 20 schools heading into his junior campaign. The Longhorns were one of the teams to make the cut with plenty of time to build their relationship with Williams. While Williams would be a great addition to the Longhorns 2027 class, they do face competition. The other programs on his list are Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Iowa, Florida State, and Arizona State. Although the Longhorns have become a staple in the College Football Playoff, that is a tough list to go to battle against. Advertisement The heavy interest comes as no surprise. Currently, the Lamar High School product is ranked as the No. 21 linebacker in his class and the 42nd-best player from Texas, according to 247Sports. That could change depending on the numbers he puts up in his junior campaign. At the moment, the Longhorns only have one commitment in the 2027 class. That is four-star recruit Taven Epps. A defense with Epps and Williams would create a lot of headaches for defensive coordinators. For Steve Sarkisian and his staff, the focus now is getting Williams to campus for a visit. As Williams ways all his options, the Longhorns will be a program to watch. They have excelled at developing linebackers and have the advantage of being located in Williams's home state. If he can continue to build on his success, the Longhorns' desire to recruit him to the Forty Acres will likely be fulfilled, and he will continue to rise. Advertisement His decision is still months away, but it is a good sign for the Longhorns that they are one of the final 20. Texas offers elite 2027 WR from Tennessee
Texas currently only has one commitment in their 2027 class, four-star linebacker Taven Epps. He's a top 100 recruit, but the Longhorns also have their sites set on a top 50 prospect for the cycle. Texas has extended an offer to four-star wide receiver Kesean Bowman. Bowman is ranked No. 23 nationally and he's the No. 5 wide receiver in the country per 247Sports composite rankings. They also have the 6-foot, 175-pounder as the No. 1 prospect in the state of Tennessee. The 2024 season was very productive for Bowman. He amassed 1,023 yards on 56 receptions (18.2 yards per catch) and scored eight touchdowns for Brentwood Academy. Bowman has a total of 36 offers. For Texas, the next step will be getting Bowman on campus for an official visit, which he hasn't done up until this point. At the 865 Live event held by the Tennessee Volunteers, Bowman said that they see him as their top guy. So, Texas will certainly have to work to overtake the top school in the state to win over Bowman. Texas offers elite 2027 in-state WR
Texas offers elite 2027 in-state WR It's two years away, but Texas currently only has four-star linebacker Taven Epps committed for the 2027 cycle. Over the weekend, plenty of elite talent from that cycle attended the Longhorns' Elite Camp, and four-star wide receiver prospect Alvin Mosley was one of them. Mosley came into the weekend with 16 offers with programs such as Florida State, TCU, SMU, and Arkansas already making bids. That number is now 17 as Texas extended an offer to the 6-foot-2, 185-pounder. It was a productive sophomore campaign for Mosley. He produced 52 receptions for 830 yards and 11 touchdowns. Because of that, 247Sports composite rankings have Mosley as the No. 223 player nationally and the nation's No. 29 wide receiver. They also have him ranked as the No. 32 prospect in the state of Texas. Mosley has mentioned that TCU, Houston, and SMU have caught his eye. However, he came into his visit with Texas hoping to leave with an offer. "I mean, it sounds great. They could develop me to be an NFL receiver so of course I'd like it," said Mosley via Horns247. The Longhorns need to strike while the iron is hot and set up another visit with Mosley quickly. Longhorns offer top recruit in 2027 class
On Sunday afternoon, the Texas Longhorns were busy on the recruiting trail. They made offers to multiple prospects in the 2027 class, including talented defensive back Eli Johnson. The Texas native has drawn interest from some of the top programs in the nation, and now the Longhorns have entered the mix. At the moment, Johnson has received offers from Houston, Florida State, Colorado State, California, and Baylor. He is ranked as the 14th-best safety and the 24th player from the Lone star state in his class by 247Sports. That could change over the next few months, as Johnson has not set a commitment date. Advertisement While many schools are still in the mix, Johnson did not hide his excitement about receiving an offer from Texas on social media. In a post on his X account, the Steele High School product said, " Beyond blessed to receive my 20th offer from Texas Football." The Longhorns 2027 class only has one commitment so far in Taven Epps. The four-star recruit is ranked as the fifth-best linebacker in his class. If Johnson chose Texas, a defense that includes Epps and Johnson would make life hard for offensive coordinators. Although the Longhorns still have plenty of time to add talent, they have made their interest in Johnson clear. Their next step will be to get Johnson to campus for a visit. That will give Steve Sarkisian and his coaching staff a chance to provide Johnson with a preview of what his future could hold as a Longhorn. Advertisement Over the last few years, the Longhorns have excelled at developing defensive backs and have chosen Johnson as their next target. Follow us on X (formerly Twitter) at @LonghornsWire.
