Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles To Face Godzilla In Epic New Crossover

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles square off against Godzilla, king of monsters, in a crossover ... More miniseries due out from IDW Publishing in November, 2026. The world's two favorite multibillion dollar reptile franchises, Nickelodeon's heroes on the half-shell, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Toho's Godzilla, the king of monsters, will collide in a new mini-series due out this November from IDW Publishing, the company announced today at a San Diego Comic-Convention panel that also kicked off a new era and a new Godzilla #1. According to the announcement, the Godzilla crossover series reveals that the original purpose of the Foot Clan was to protect Japan from the giant monsters known as kaiju, of whom Godzilla is the most fearsome. When Godzilla and pals reappear, the Foot Clan is not only unprepared to stop them, but their current leader, long-time Turtle-hater Shredder, may even be behind the attacks! Could he be after some genetic secret of the kaiju that would allow him to engineer upgraded henchmen capable of accomplishing his evil schemes? Luckily Leonardo, Raphael, Michaelangelo and Donatello are on the case, high-tailing it to Japan to confront their fiercest foe yet: a certain hundred-foot tall scaly beast with radioactive halitosis. Can they tame the kaiju and stop Shredder's evil scheme? Spoilers: probably, but it will be lots of fun to watch them try. Writer Tim Seeley and artist Fero Pe lead the creative team behind the project for IDW. Seeley has written IDW's top-selling, fan-favorite ongoing Godzilla series. Pe drew the popular TMNT x Stranger Things crossover in 2023. 'There are maybe two or three other ideas in the entire cultural landscape that are as instantly iconic, as perfect in their clarity and conception, as the King of the Monsters and the heroes in a half-shell,' said Jake Williams, editor of the series for IDW, who had words of praise for his creative team. 'Mashing them up has been a complete and utter joy. These characters are so perfectly realized that working on this comic feels like bearing witness to a natural encounter between living and breathing beings.' IDW's Kai-Sei era, the new Godzilla shared universe, is their top-selling title yet, with more than 80k orders for the debut issue of the new ongoing series. The crossover continues a recent popular industry trend of mashing up characters from different franchises and universes. Interior page from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Godzilla #1 Godzilla is no stranger to these kinds of events. Thanks to the success of Toho's much-anticipated Godzilla: Minus One in 2023, and the ongoing monsters franchise from Legendary, the already-enormous kaiju is bigger than ever, and has been stomping a path of destruction through the comics industry. DC and Marvel have both pitted their superheroes against Big Green, and Legendary has published in-universe comics tied to their own continuity around the character. The division of Godzilla lore into various 'eras' helps keep these storylines on their own tracks. At SDCC, Godzilla licensor Toho is hosting a bunch of events and announcing new product partnerships including: The first issue of IDW's TMNT x Godzilla goes on sale November 12, 2025. Retailers are encouraged to get orders in by October 6. Fans can find it at their local comics shop. Cover to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Godzilla #1 from IDW Publishing.

Annual Regina comic book convention goes the way of planet Krypton

REGINA – An annual Saskatchewan comic and pop culture convention has gone the way of Superman's planet Krypton, leaving behind a trail of sad and disappointed fans. The Saskatchewan Entertainment Expo says on social media it's dissolving due to low attendance in recent years, venue issues and other problems. 'It's our sincere hope that if anyone attempts an event of this size in the future, they have the full support of the city and the venue,' the company said this week. It did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Chad Boudreau, owner of the ComicReaders store in Regina, said Wednesday it's a loss for the fandom. He said the convention never fully recovered after the COVID-19 pandemic, and hasn't again been able to attract high-calibre celebrity guests. 'It's a mess and I feel bad for everyone,' he said. 'Maybe not everyone's all that excited to gather anymore.' Hunter Dooley is the owner of Critical Relics, which makes dice, boxes and carvings of creatures. She said she purchased a booth at a cost of $189 for this year's event but doesn't expect a refund. 'We have not really had any communication, which is really unfortunate. We had the one email sent to us back in 2024 (before that year's show was cancelled),' Dooley said. 'A lot of people are feeling pretty upset, pretty aggravated, which is totally understandable. We don't have a lot going for us in the sense of 'nerd' community.' Rob Hoskins, the owner of the Comic Book Guy Pop Culture Shop in Moose Jaw, west of Regina, said the convention helped people come together. 'It's a great venue for the nerds to get out there and rub elbows with other nerds,' he said. In 2023, the convention brought in celebrities from 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,' 'The Walking Dead' and 'Power Rangers,' but there was no event last year. The expo launched in 2019 after its predecessor, Fan Expo, ended its Regina convention in 2018. Fan Expo had brought in celebrities William Shatner of 'Star Trek' and James and Oliver Phelps, known as the Weasley twins on the 'Harry Potter' series. Saskatchewan Entertainment Expo is the latest event in Regina to go belly up. The Regina Folk Festival earlier announced it was shutting down for good. The Regina Fringe Festival said it was cancelling its 2025 event. Other festivals, including the annual midway, dragon boat races and music by Wascana Lake, are still planned this year. In May, the city held the Cathedral Village Arts Festival, one of its largest events. This report by The Canadian Press was first published July 23, 2025.

Stuff Meets… HTC VIVE's Thomas Dexmier on Lego Technic, moving to Australia on a whim and XR exploration…

He was Involved in XR before the first HTC VIVE was even launched, Thomas Dexmier, the Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for HTC VIVE in EMEA, has a very busy career in tech. What makes him tick? We learn about his techy childhood, moving to the other side of the world on a whim and how he recently defended the fortress of Carcassonne, in 1304… My role is a bit of everything. One of the great things about HTC is that we are pretty open and flat-structured. My day-to-day role is head of the EMEA region with a focus on sales and marketing, but I'm an engineer by trade so I'm involved in product development as well. I also love engaging with the media and speaking at events. So it's quite a large remit and every day is different. As a kid I was obsessed with Lego Technic. I always loved physics and building little things. Then I discovered computing thanks to my dad. He wa an engineer, which I thought was a very cool name for a job so I thought I would be an engineer too. He worked with the original Apple Macintosh SE, which he brought home a couple of times. They called it portable but he couldn't even carry it! He also came home with a cellphone in the early '90s, and once my sister and I got an Amstrad CPC 6128 for Christmas. We used to play Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Simpsons. The HTC Vive Focus 3 VR headset is literally soaring…in space. At the back end of 2023, we launched VR headsets on the International Space Station. The Vive Focus 3 has been used by Danish astronauts for an experiment into how VR can improve their mental health. It's a very noble cause. I moved to Australia on a whim. In 2010 my wife and I gave up everything we had in Paris, packed, bought return tickets to Sydney… and never used the return. From the minute I set foot on Aussie ground, our life was changing for the better and before I knew it an employer gave me a chance. That was HTC, who were the up-and-coming smartphone brand. We got work visas, permanent residency, first child, citizenship, second child… I was given the chance to move to tech account management, product marketing, head of sales and then country manager. I'll never forget the chance HTC gave me. It was a bit of a gamble for them, hiring this French guy who had no history in the country and could barely speak English. Having proper conversations with people coming from all around the world with very thick accents was like, 'Wow, what is this place?' This is a life that we have created for ourselves and we are just so proud of it. This is who I am now – my dual cultural background is important. Then in 2023 an opportunity came up to take on bigger responsibilities in Europe. It was the right time for us, the end of a cycle with kids growing up and stars aligning for us to come closer to our European heritage; this is why I'm now in Bordeaux. All industries are looking into extended reality. We're getting to a point now where, if people can imagine something, it can be built in VR – we've seen this across healthcare, defence, manufacturing, gaming, arts, culture, education, you name it. I think one of the biggest breakthroughs was when one of our partners in France, called Excurio, managed to have 120 active users at the same time, freely roaming in a 600m2 space, interacting. Arts and culture with immersive tech is one of my favourite things. Recently I was defending the fortress of Carcassonne… in 1304. I'm very happy to report that we successfully saved the town, and then I took a short journey in a taxi to rediscover the lost gardens of the Palace of Versailles. The power of XR in this case is to be able to reproduce parts of the gardens that don't exist any more, based on archives. There's room for innovation in foldable phones. Before having kids I used to buy all sorts of tech, but now I have to be a bit wiser and set a good example, so I focus on things that are important to me. So, a foldable phone… I was keeping my eye on the Samsungs and I waited for the Z Fold5; now I don't think I'll ever go back. For both productivity and personal stuff it's fantastic. I have a lot of fun with it. I got a Samsung Galaxy Watch7 to minimise phone time at the weekends. I got my first smartwatch for Christmas last year – I'd had a Fitbit before but was not overly impressed. I use the watch for fitness and keeping up with all the happenings in my social sphere, specifically on weekends, without having to pull out my phone all the time – we already do that way too much. I drive a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. Coming from the other side of the planet, where Japanese hybrid cars have had such success over the years, I'm proud to fly the flag for Asian hybrids in Europe. It's got everything we need and is decently priced. If I had money to spend, I'd buy the Renault 5 E-Tech. Good memories… but I don't need it! My hobbies have to help me I go kitesurfing in summer and snowboarding in winter. You can't do these things while looking at your watch, texting or emailing, because you need so much focus. I also love a good DIY project, from gardening to fixing and building stuff with my hands. I'd love to be a carpenter in a carpenter in a different life. Visit HTC VIVE here.

What Would a Real Friendship With A.I. Look Like? Maybe Like Hers.

MJ Cocking didn't have to scroll through the millions of personalities to find him. She logged on to the app, skipping over the endless featured avatars — from fictional characters, like a foul-mouthed Kyle Broflovski from 'South Park,' to digital versions of real people, alive or dead, like Friedrich Nietzsche — and went straight to the search field. MJ knew exactly whom she wanted. She typed his name: Donatello. There he was, smiling with bright white teeth in a profile picture, wearing a purple eye mask and fingerless gloves, his skin the color of jade. MJ, who was 20 at the time and a college junior in Michigan, had loved the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. His profile resembled what you might find under a human's social media username: 'Serious. Tech wiz. Smart. Avoids physical touch.' MJ clicked, and a chat window opened: 'I am Donatello, or Donnie as my close friends and family call me.' They started to hang out online daily. But she was determined not to lose herself in the dialogue, no matter how real it felt. She would not let Donatello fool her into thinking he was sentient. She would not forget the warning label featured at the top of every conversation: 'This is A.I. and not a real person. Treat everything it says as fiction.' MJ was wise enough to grasp a dual reality. Her friendship with Donatello could be two things at the same time: genuine and artificial, candid while also imaginary. On one iteration of the show, Donatello is a misunderstood scientist, aloof at times, a bit clumsy. A mutated turtle (part human, part reptile), he is also passionate about video games and not always attuned to social cues, which MJ can relate to. Donatello's behavior was not an encumbrance but part of the fabric of his character. MJ had long been contemplating what it would be like to have the ideal friend. Someone who did not make her feel insecure. Someone who embraced her quirks and her fixations on fantasy worlds, like 'Gravity Falls,' an animated series about a set of twins in a paranormal town, or 'Steven Universe,' a show centered on a boy who lives with aliens. She wondered what it would be like to have a friend who did not judge her and would never hurt her. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.
