BRS fumes over BJP's India map excluding Telangana, demands apology
Hyderabad: The BRS working president K T Rama Rao on Thursday voiced strong objections to the India map presented by the Andhra Pradesh BJP Chief Madhav to Minister Nara Lokesh, which conspicuously excluded Telangana. The BRS leader took to X to express his displeasure at the BJP leader's actions. 'We have fought for generations for our cultural identity, our rightful place in history, and our geographical position – TELANGANA,' said K T Rama Rao. 'Today, your Andhra Pradesh state BJP chief Madhav, has belittled our struggle by gifting a United Andhra Pradesh map and ignoring the existence of Telangana. This is absolutely unacceptable and reflects the blatant disregard for the people of Telangana… for our state, and for our struggle, sacrifices of martyrs, and history. What are we if our history is erased?!' He concluded by stating, 'Sir, I request you to clarify whether this reflects your party's plan or political agenda. If it's a genuine oversight, I demand an apology from your party leadership to the people of Telangana.' Party MLC D Sravan Kumar described the India map displayed by Andhra leaders, deliberately omitting Telangana, as a 'dangerous and deeply offensive act that strikes at the very heart of the identity of Telangana.' He found it 'shocking that while Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh are clearly acknowledged on the map, Telangana, the 28th State of the Indian Union, born out of decades of democratic people's struggle, historical sacrifice, and a constitutional process, is erased.' The BRS leader asserted that this selective recognition by these senior leaders of Andhra Pradesh reflects 'more than ignorance.' He claimed it reveals 'deep-rooted arrogance, contempt, a deliberate denial, and a political conspiracy to delegitimise Telangana's rightful existence and identity.' Sravan characterised the act as 'a cruel assault on every soul of Telanganite who fought for Telangana's statehood, an attack on the Constitution of India, which guarantees the territorial integrity and recognition of all its states, and a symbolic extermination of Telangana's identity, heritage, and legitimacy.' Sravan further criticised, stating that 'on one hand, they loot Godavari and Krishna waters and now, they insult by showing a map of India that erases the very identity of Telangana.' The BRS leader appealed to the Telangana DGP to immediately take suo motu cognisance of this grave act and register a case under the following provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (2023): Section 336 – Forgery of public documents; Section 337 – Forgery for the purpose of deception; Section 196 – Promoting enmity between regions; Section 352 – Criminal intimidation of Telangana's political and cultural identity; and Section 353 – Public mischief likely to disturb peace and incite unrest. Sravan concluded, 'This is not just about a map. It is about our struggle, our sacrifices, our history, our identity and, after all, our constitutional rights.'

BRS strongly objects to AP BJP chief displaying a map sans Telangana
HYDERABAD The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has strongly objected to Andhra Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president P.V.N. Madhav presenting a map (framed portrait) of India without depicting Telangana or showing it as a part of Andhra Pradesh to Minister N. Lokesh. 'It's nothing but belittling Telangana people's struggle for statehood. By showing a combined AP map and ignoring the existence of Telangana, the BJP leader has insulted Telangana people's fight for generations for their cultural identity, for a rightful place in the history and their geographical position,' BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao said in a poser to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mr. Rama Rao said that it was absolutely unacceptable and reflected the blatant disregard for the people of Telangana – 'to our State, to our struggle, sacrifices of martyrs and history'. 'What are we if our history is erased? Sir, I request you to clarify whether this reflects your party's plan or political agenda,' he sought to know from the Prime Minister. 'If it is a genuine oversight, BRS demands an apology from the BJP leadership to the people of Telangana,' Mr. Rama Rao said. Speaking separately, BRS MLC D. Sravan said that the map of India displayed by AP leaders Mr. Lokesh and Mr. Madhav, deliberately omitting Telangana, is a dangerous and deeply offensive act that strikes at the very heart of Telangana's identity. It is shocking that while Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh are clearly acknowledged in the map, Telangana, the youngest State of the Indian Union, born out of decades of democratic people's struggle, historical sacrifice and a constitutional process is erased. The selective recognition of the two senior leaders of AP reflects more than ignorance, Mr. Sravan said and added: 'It reveals deep-rooted arrogance, contempt, a deliberate denial and a political conspiracy to delegitimise Telangana's rightful existence and identity'. He observed that the act is a cruel assault on every soul of Telanganite who fought for Telangana's statehood, an attack on the Constitution of India, which guarantees the territorial integrity and recognition of all its States, a symbolic extermination of Telangana's identity, heritage and legitimacy. 'On the one hand, they loot our Godavari and Krishna waters, and now, they insult us by showing a map of India that erases the very identity of Telangana,' Mr. Sravan said and demanded Telangana police to immediately take suo motu cognizance of the grave act and register a case.

KTR accepts Revanth Reddy's ‘challenge' for debate on river water allocation, asks Telangana CM to decide venue in 72 hours
HYDERABAD Working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), K.T. Rama Rao, has accepted the 'challenge' thrown at the party (BRS) leadership by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at 'Samvidhan celebration' public meeting on Friday (July 4, 2025) for a debate on the issues pertaining to river water allocation and injustices to Telangana. 'Mr. Revanth Reddy can decide the venue of his choice for the debate at Kondareddypalle, Chintamadaka, Kodangal, Gajwel, Assembly or Ambedkar statue in the next 72 hours. Else, he could come to Press Club at 11 am on July 8 as I (KTR) would be waiting there for the debate', Mr. Rama Rao said addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Saturday (July 5, 2025). 'I prefer Mr. Revanth Reddy to come for the debate as it would make things clear once for all or he could send his senior colleague. They could make ample preparation in the next 72 hours as issues related to water sharing are difficult to understand for the Congress leaders, while the BRS leaders lived with it all along the Statehood moved. I would personally come for the debate as BRS chief and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao would be too big for Mr. Reddy's level', the BRS working president said. Every Telanganite was aware as to what was the status of the farm sector in Telangana till 2014 and how it had transformed during 2014-23. He stated that several novel initiatives including increase in the irrigation facilities, free power for farming round-the-clock and timely supply of all other inputs by the BRS administration had made farming a celebration in Telangana and led the State to become top paddy producer in the country, displacing Punjab. Introduction of investment/input support, life insurance cover to every landholder and 24-hour free power supply to farming were the hallmark of BRS rule, as such interventions were made for the first time anywhere in the world. The Chief Minister Mr. Revanth Reddy was aware of everything but not ready to accept the reality and facts, Mr. Rama Rao said. Stating that denial of water for irrigation and drinking needs and power supply to farm sector along with discrimination in allocation of funds and jobs had led to the birth of the ultimate phase of the Statehood movement along, the BRS leader pointed out several failures and betrayal of promises made to the farming and other dependent sectors made in the name of Rythu Declaration and others, in detail. He said that Mr. Revanth Reddy too was fighting for water and funds but the only difference was that he was allowing Andhra Pradesh to illegally divert Godavari water to the non-basin areas in violation of the rights of Telangana within the basin in the name of Polavaram-Banakacherla Link Project (PBLP) and sending funds to Delhi (Congress leadership).
