'Jerome Myles is already turning heads': TexAgs provides insight on Texas A&M freshman WR

Texas A&M's 2025 signing class includes five-star wide receiver Jerome Myles, who enters the program after enduring a season-ending injury after just a handful of games during his 2024 season. An outstanding athlete with immense potential, the learning curve for any freshman is vast once their first collegiate fall camp begins, but for those on the inside, even more so than us, TexAgs co-owner Billy Liucci provided some insight regarding the freshman's progress this summer. "It's going to be harder because of where he came from, meaning the knee injury, and he wasn't here this spring" Liucci stated. "Marco Jones is here in spring and, non only his spring offseason but spring football and 15 practices with pads on, so that's always a big advantage for any freshman coming in that hopes to play at some disatvange when you can. Freshman edge Marco Jones is certainly a name to watch this fall as a potential name to watch among a relatively new edge rotation after his impressive spring game performance, accounting for nearly every defensive sack and tackle for loss on the day. However, the transition to playing wide receiver at the college level is tougher from a scheme perspective, but it sounds like Jerome Myles will be a name to watch once fall camp begins next month. "With that said, Jerome Myles is already turning heads. I think I mentioned this yesterday: He's 225-plus pounds and running among the fastest times by the data out there, 21-22 miles per hour, so he's really fast for a guy his size, and its turning heads as a wide receiver already." Earlier this year, ESPN writers Tom Luginbill and Craig Haubert proffessed similar praise for Jerome Myles' skillset, sharing Liucci's opinion that he is one of the top athletes at his size, and could end up become an immediate downfield threat if he learns the playbook and has a similiar rise to Alabama WR Ryan Williams, who shined during his 2024 freshman campaign. "Myles is a unique prospect. There are plenty of tall, big targets who lack great speed and quickness because of their size. Conversely, plenty of undersized receivers have great speed. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Myles combines both. He's a 50-50 jump ball weapon because of height and wingspan who also has rare speed and acceleration to pose a vertical threat at the same time. His speed is remarkable for his size. He ran a 10.36 100-meter dash, a 4.48 laser-timed 40-yard dash and posted a Max Speed of 20.4 mph. Texas A&M's wide receiver room is loaded with quality transfers and wide-open competition. Expect Myles to fit right in." A teammate of current 2026 4-star QB commit Helaman Casuga, Myles reeled in 18 touchdowns and 1,431 receiving yards over his last three seasons at Corner Canyon HS. Notes: Dan Campbell talks how special Detroit is as a sports town

Detroit Lions' coach Dan Campbell is a popular guy these days. Just a few days ago, he joined 96.7 am in Dallas to discuss how much he loves being in Detroit. We love you too, Dan. And while he still has some free time before training camp kicks off for Detroit later this month, he jumped on, 'The LiucciCast,' hosted by Billy Liucci over on the TexAgs YouTube channel. Advertisement Early on in the show, Liucci lets viewers and listeners know that he and Campbell are close, and you can certainly tell. Campbell, who is typically very comfortable talking to whoever, seemed especially at home talking with his old friend. The two talked about a ton of different subjects in the nearly hour-long episode. From their time together at Texas A&M, to Campbell's coaching and playing journey that led to him to Detroit. 'You go to Detroit right now, and it's in the building, in the tunnels, it's whoever is getting on and off the elevator,' said Liucci of the feeling in the city after the first playoff win back in 2023. 'It means a lot you know, and I have said this before, but I had my eyes open to this place when I played here,' said Campbell. 'Oh my god, this is a sleeping giant. This could be one of the best places ever to come and play and be a part of this. They love their Detroit Lions, they love sports. It's just waiting. If you could just get everything aligned properly, bring in the right pieces, the right people—this could be something special.' If you have the time, I highly recommend giving the entire interview a listen or watch. You can watch the entire episode right here. And now, onto the rest of today's notes: Advertisement Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 in Houston wrote about Lions' linebacker Grant Stuard's perspective on football, as well as his annual youth football camp. Congrats to Lions' rookie guard Miles Frazier on his recent engagement. One of my favorite moments from the series right here. Lions' rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa joined, 'Up & Adams,' with host Kay Adams to discuss his Lambeau Leap aspirations in Week 1. 2026 4-star Edge and Texas A&M commit invited to Rivals Five-Star event

2026 4-star Edge and Texas A&M commit invited to Rivals Five-Star event .@Jordanbcarter22 ✈️ RIVALS FIVE-STAR 4⭐️ Texas A&M commit Jordan Carter is officially LOCKED IN to join 100 of the best prospects in the country to compete in Indianapolis on June 23-24 🔥 — Rivals Camp Series (@RivalsCamp) June 13, 2025 Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class will be well-represented on the big stage later this month, as four-star quarterback commit Helaman Casuga and four-star Edge rusher Jordan Carter have been invited to compete in the annual Rivals Five-Star event in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 23-24. Casuga received his invitation on Thursday, while Carter announced that he will head to the Colts Stadium on Friday. This is an impressive feat for Coach Mike Elko and his staff, considering that both players are committed to the program, including Carter's announcement via TexAgs that he has likely shut down his recruitment after his official visit to Texas A&M last weekend. Rival Five-Star is a chance for the top 100 players in the 2026 cycle to compete at the highest level and showcase their elite skillsets to help solidify their standing as the best prospects at their respective positions. Casuga's 6,475 yards and 60 touchdowns during his first two high school seasons booked his ticket, while Carter's 62 tackles, 13 sacks, and 17 tackles for loss during his 2024 junior season are equally eye-popping. According to Rivals, Carter is currently positioned as the 146th-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle, the 13th-ranked defensive end, and the 19th-ranked prospect in Georgia. Standing at 6'4" and over 230 pounds, Carter's length and elite first step have made him one of the more feared pass rushers in Georgia, and should continue to rise in the recruiting rankings after his 2025 senior season. Knowing Texas A&M's success in developing defensive linemen, it's no surprise that Carter is excited to join the Aggie ranks. Texas A&M star freshman OF announces his return for the 2026 baseball season

Texas A&M star freshman OF announces his return for the 2026 baseball season 'I'm not going anywhere. I'm coming back. I want to be at Texas A&M and play for Coach Earley.' — Terrence Kiel II — Ryan Brauninger (@R_Brauninger) May 30, 2025 With the news that Texas A&M Athletic Director Trev Alberts will retain head baseball coach Michael Earley heading into the 2026 season, two players have announced their return, starting with sophomore third baseman Gavin Grahovac, who missed all but six games last season due to his season-ending injury. Just minutes after Grahovac told TexAgs analyst Ryan Brauninger that he will return next season in full health, ready to re-establish himself as one of the faces of the program, standout freshman outfielder Terrence Kiel Jr., son of the late Texas A&M star safety Terrence Kiel, also spoke to Brauninger, and was excited to announce that he will also return next season. 'I'm not going anywhere. I'm coming back. I want to be at Texas A&M and play for Coach Earley.' Both these returns are unsurprising given the roster's dedication to Michael Earley, which was vocalized by junior outfielder Jace LaViolette, who, after the SEC Tournament Quarterfinals loss to LSU, stated "I'd die for him and it's not only me" about Earley's uncertain future with the program just once week ago. While LaViolette, who played against the Tigers with a broken hand, will likely declare for the 2025 MLB Draft, there is still a possibility that he could return for a final season in College Station, but that dream is improbable. For Kiel, his 2025 freshman season was one to remember and is likely just the start of a memorable Aggie career after hitting .294 with 59 hits, 26 RBI, two home runs, and 12 steals on the year. 'Who wouldn't want to play there?' Dennis Dodd discusses Texas A&M's future with TexAgs

'Who wouldn't want to play there?' Dennis Dodd discusses Texas A&M's future with TexAgs One of college football's most respected analysts, former CBS sports' Dennis Dodd recently retired and sat down with TexAgs to not just discuss his lengthy and fascinating coverage career, but also provide some insight regarding Texas A&M's football future under head coach Mike Elko, who is entering his second season at the helm. This offseason, Texas A&M has not been in the national spotlight, which is a very positive development for a program needing less widespread attention to fix its issues in-house. After the spring football season, including the annual Maroon & White spring game, starting quarterback Marcel Reed, his new receiving corps, and the defenses' deep edge rotation all made plays during a relatively tame scrimmage. So far, the Aggies are still considered a Top 25 team entering the 2025 campaign, but due to their tough schedule, including road tests against Notre Dame, Missouri, Arkansas, LSU, and of course, the season finale vs. Texas in Austin. Still, the keys to winning on the road are solid quarterback play combined with blocking up front and a consistent running game, two areas of strength for the Aggies, while Reed's improved play in the pocket remains to be seen. Dodd, during his TexAgs interview, has the same questions as the Aggies, especially the "long term" progress under Mike Elko, which needs to begin showing substantial progress in Year 2. "For Texas A&M, you have to play the same team in year two, but flip the venue. That was tough last year. You have to go to Notre Dame. You have to go to Missouri. A&M has a good recruiting class. You have Texas there, though. They are in the SEC now. I think Mike Elko has laid a good foundation. It remains to be seen what long-term progress will be made. Everything is on the table. The potential in the SEC is unlimited." Every team that recruits at a high level, especially hitting every region of the country, has a chance to build an elite program, so it's more than fair to say that Texas A&M is on the right track. Dodd's experience covering the last two decades of Aggie football led to an interesting observation regarding the program's mass appeal. "I was there for the Johnny Manziel stuff and the game in 1998. I should put that on my list. Kansas State was up, and we know how it ended with A&M winning in overtime. They can't seem to get over thre hump. Some of it was a selection of coaches. Some of it was Heisman trophy winners leaving, like Kyler Murray. Some of it is their recruiting not measuring up. Part of it is chasing Texas, which they will continue to do forever. It's hard to put your finger on. It's hard to blame anybody when you have the best of everything there. There is no reason A&M should not be a contender for a national championship every year. Step on that campus. Who wouldn't want to play there?" Again, results are results, and Texas A&M has not won a conference championship since 1998 or achieved more than nine wins since the 2020 campaign. After finishing 1-4 with an 8-5 overall record last season, Elko went out and hired defensive assistant Lyle Hemphill, and combined with the transfer portal additions, and 10th-ranked 2025 signing class, the Aggies are set up for success this season, but until we see the results, any preseason "hype" is pointless.
