Urgent appeal to find girl, 16, missing from Dartford amid police concerns
An urgent appeal has been issued to find a 16-year-old girl missing from Dartford. Officers say they are concerned for the welfare of Isabella Goodwin, last seen leaving her home around 10am yesterday (June 29). She is described as white, 5ft 8in, slim, with brown eyes and dark brown straight hair. It is believed she is wearing a black t-shirt and shorts. Kent Police officers think she may be in the Thanet area, and Isabella also has links to the Ramsgate area. A Kent Police spokesperson said: 'The public's help is sought to find a missing teenage girl from #Dartford who may be in the Thanet area. 'Isabella Goodwin was last seen leaving her address at around 10am on June 29 2025. 'The 16-year-old is described as being white, 5ft 8in, of slim build, with brown eyes and dark brown straight hair. 'It is thought she is wearing a black t-shirt and shorts. 'Isabella is known to have links to Ramsgate and our officers are concerned for her welfare. 'If you have critical information regarding the whereabouts of Isabella, please call us on 999. 'If you have any other information to help locate her, please use the live chat function on our website or call 101. Thanet charity returns home after £10k flood damage
A Kent charity which helps families in poverty is reopening at its main site after it was forced it to move due to flooding which caused £10,000 worth of to Mama, which provides second hand items to vulnerable pregnant women, carers and children under five in Thanet, will reopen at its Ramsgate site on the charity said there was delay in distributing items after it was hit by flooding on 13 Furniss, the charity's CEO, said: "It's just heart-breaking because its months and hours of time, resourcing, cleaning, sorting, so it's difficult." The charity delivers care boxes to new mums that include baby cloths, a blanket or sleep suit, a muslin and a comforter or soft toy. It also adds a pack of biodegradable wipes, organic cotton wool pads and pregnancy or new baby toiletry Furniss said: "We have had an incredible response from our community, so we are hoping this week we will get a flurry of donations and we are hoping some brands have read our plea and they will get in touch." Despite seeing a jump of more than 40% in referrals in recent months, the charity says there has been a decline in donations of bigger 2023-24, Mama to Mama supported 128 families in Thanet and it was hoping to increase this by 40% by 2026.

RNLI reveals plans for new modern lifeboat station in Margate
The RNLI has revealed plans for a new lifeboat station to replace an existing one on the Kent coast, which is almost 50 years new station in Margate will provide modern crew training and changing facilities, as well as a new retail area for shop volunteers and a meeting space available to local community groups, the RNLI will be built on the site of the existing station, which will be demolished, with construction to begin in Amas, Margate RNLI's lifeboat operations manager, said: "The new station will provide us with the capability to continue saving lives on Thanet's beaches and off the north Kent coast well into the future." The volunteer crew will operate out of two nearby temporary facilities while the site is being built and will continue to run their D class and B class inshore RNLI says the new, slightly larger building, which includes solar panels, should not need any significant maintenance for 30 RNLI lifeguards are also expected to use the existing station was built in 1978 following the collapse of Margate Pier.

New plan to renovate Ramsgate shelters
A not-for-profit has announced it will renovate and refurbish shelters in Ramsgate. Heritage Lab Ramsgate said it has a "bold plan" for the future of the derelict buildings along the lower promenade of East Cliff. It has asked the public for their views and ideas after taking on a 20-year lease to redevelop eight art deco shelters from Thanet District Council. Heritage Lab Ramsgate said the 6m-by-2m shelters, which look directly out to sea, will be put to a "variety of uses". Proposals include a food and drinks outlet, a sauna, water sports and fishing facilities, beach huts, a community and educational space or art shelter is set to be restored to its original purpose with seated benches and information on the history of the area. Heritage Lab Ramsgate said it hopes to have the shelters, which spread either side of the Pulhamite steps below Winterstoke Gardens, open for the summer 2026 not-for-profit has launched an online consultation where people can share their views and ideas about how the shelters can best be used in future.

Bird flu case confirmed in gull on Kent coast near Margate
A case of bird flu has been detected in a gull on the Kent coast, Thanet District Council has said.A spokesperson for the council confirmed that a single case of bird flu had been identified in Botany Bay, near warned residents and visitors to not handle dead birds or any other wildlife in the area and to keep pets away from dead 60 cases of bird flu have been reported in England since November 2024, according to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). Any dead wildlife found should be reported to the council, the spokesperson added.
