DEVO announces ‘Cosmic De-Evolution Tour' with The B-52s. Get tickets
Vivid Seats is the New York Post's official ticketing partner. We may receive revenue from this partnership for sharing this content and/or when you make a purchase. Featured pricing is subject to change. New wave is alive and well. DEVO and The B-52s announced they're teaming up for their co-headlining 'Cosmic De-Evolution Tour' with special guest Lene Lovich from September through November. While on the road, the offbeat rock pioneers — who both performed at 'SNL50' this past February — are scheduled to make a pair of New York and New Jersey stops. Up first, they'll swoop into Holmdel, NJ's PNC Bank Arts Center on Saturday, Oct. 4. Then, on Sunday, Oct. 5, the '80s-tastic twosome hit Long Island's Jones Beach Theater. 'COORDINATES CONFIRMED. These are the dates. These are the cities,' The B-52s shared via Instagram. 'Come weird. Come loud. Just don't miss it!' Upon further investigation, eagle-eyed diehards may notice the text 'one last orbit (maybe?)' on the bottom of the tour announcement poster. While we can't confirm what exactly is being implied there, DEVO has been in the middle of their '50 Years of De-Evolution…Continued' farewell tour for three years and The B-52s claimed they were calling it quits in November 2022 but have since headlined at festivals, performed in their hometown Athens, GA, conducted multiple Las Vegas residencies and put on a few one-off shows all over North America. Makes sense that two of the cheekiest bands of all time would goof on saying goodbye. 'I'm looking forward to 2073,' DEVO frontman Mark Mothersbaugh, who has scored everything from the 'Rugrats' theme song to Wes Anderson films, joked in an interview with The Guardian back in 2023. 'We'll play 100th anniversary Devo shows and then maybe retire.' 'In 2022, I swore I'd never get on a tour bus again' B-52s singer Fred Schneider said in a press release fo the fall tour. '…but we were careful to say to our fans that we would still perform in special situations that don't require all of the awful tour travel. Our Vegas residency is going great, and when we were offered the chance to do a small run of shows with Devo, we all said this is an extraordinary opportunity we couldn't say no to.' Fans can purchase tickets for all upcoming DEVO shows on sites like Vivid Seats; the official on-sale for the 'Cosmic De-Evolution Tour' is Friday, June 20. Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand. They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event. The band behind the project, Kingston Sound System, have created this new imagining of The B-52s classic track 'Love Shack' using the original vocal takes combined with a live Jamaican reggae band. The unmistakable vocals from Fred Schneider and Kate Pierson sound at home inside of a wall of skanking guitars and pulsating horns, creating a sun-drenched version of a track named by Rolling Stone as one of the greatest of all time. The track became the most successful of The B-52s' nearly 50-year career, with 'Love Shack' still standing up as a joyous and upbeat dance floor-filler. Now, Kingston Sound System present a sun-soaked reggae version, moving the good times from the dance floor to the beachside. 'Love Shack' is the latest release from CLASSIC HITS IN A REGGAE GROOVE, following on from Steve Winwood's 'Higher Love,' Blondie's 'Heart of Glass' and Jimmy Somerville/Bronski Beat's 'Smalltown Boy'. Each track delivers a reggae twist that's innovative and irresistible. The Full Album Project: CLASSIC HITS IN A REGGAE GROOVE by the Kingston Sound System is a project that re-imagines a range of massive international hits, working with the original vocalists and the Kingston Sound System to recreate the songs in an authentic reggae style.
