Grey's Anatomy legend addresses possible show return and it's not good news

Former Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh has opened up on the possibility of returning to the long-running medical drama Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh has shared her thoughts on a potential return to the show, and it's not good news. Sandra is most recognised for her role as cardiothoracic surgeon Cristina Yang in the long-running medical drama. ‌ Cristina was part of the original group of interns, alongside Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl), and George O'Malley (TR Knight). ‌ During her tenure on the show, Cristina was at the centre of numerous high-profile storylines. Her relationship with Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington) notably concluded on their wedding day in the third series, she was left shaken following the hospital shooting at the end of the sixth series, and was aboard the plane that crashed in the eighth series, reports the Mirror US. After ten series, Cristina departed Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital for a job in Zurich, Switzerland. She took up a position at the Klausman Institute for Medical Research, a hospital established by her former mentor and ex-fiancé, Preston. Since then, Sandra has starred in a variety of popular films and TV shows, including Killing Eve, The Chair and Turning Red. More than a decade after her departure from Grey's Anatomy, fans are still holding out hope for Cristina's comeback. However, Sandra has now addressed the possibility, and it's not the news fans were hoping for. ‌ In a chat with Deadline, the 53-year-old actress expressed appreciation for the show's fans, but also stated that she had "to be true" to herself. "What I have noticed, this is ten years out from leaving the show, is the deep appreciation that I have for the people who appreciate Cristina," Sandra said. ‌ "It is that love that has made me go, 'Oh, the fans really, really, really want it,' and for the first time, that's when I started opening up the idea." However, she added: "For me, I think to really be true to the people who enjoy your work, you have to be true to yourself. So, at this point, I don't think so." This sentiment echoes what Sandra expressed last year when probed about reprising her role as Cristina. ‌ "I love that you asked me that, because Cristina Yang is, of course, near and dear to my heart. [But] I will say, not anytime soon, my love," she had previously shared with Entertainment Tonight. "I hope people feel like I did my job, which is that I brought to life a character and she had a growth over ten seasons, and that it was true. She was ready to move on, and so have I." The season 21 finale of Grey's Anatomy aired in May, culminating in a nail-biting cliffhanger as a mother threatened to blow up a gas tank unless Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) performed surgery on her child. The explosive conclusion left viewers on the edge of their seats, with the destinies of several characters up in the air. Fans are eagerly awaiting the premiere of season 22 later this year to discover the aftermath of the devastating blast.

Aubrey Plaza takes on first film since husband's death

Aubrey Plaza is officially back to work after her husband's death in January. The part-time Marin County resident is starring in actor and comedian Zach Woods' film, 'The Accompanist,' along with Everly Carganilla ('The Chair') and Susan Sarandon ('Thelma & Louise'), according to Deadline. Plaza plays a rookie child-welfare agent in the drama, which is currently in postproduction. The project follows new foster parent Sylvia (Sarandon) as she takes in 9-year-old Emily (Carganilla) after her dementia-stricken grandfather nearly got her killed. 'Life can feel so lonely sometimes,' Woods said in a statement about the film, which will mark his directorial debut. 'I think it's worth telling stories about how scary, funny, and glorious it is when we're brave enough to try to find our way to each other in the dark.' Plaza is easing back into the public eye since her husband, Jeff Baena, died by suicide on Jan. 3. In February, the ' My Old Ass ' actor starred in a Super Bowl commercial for Ritz crackers this year that was filmed before Baena's death. She made a live television appearance during 'SNL50: The Anniversary Special' the week after, wearing a pink tie-dyed T-shirt, which many believed to be a nod to the hobby that Baena started during the COVID-19 pandemic and their wedding day outfits. 'Jeff got really into tie-dying during the quarantine, so I decided that Jeff and I were going to wear tie-dye pajamas that he had made for us (for the wedding),' Plaza revealed during an appearance on 'The Drew Barrymore Show' in December 2021, just months after Plaza casually announced their impromptu nuptials. The couple had been together for more than a decade but separated months before Baena's death. About a month after the split, Baena allegedly made 'concerning remarks' to the actor that pushed her to 'call a friend to perform a welfare check' on him, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner.

King and Queen to spend 20th wedding anniversary at state banquet in Rome

The King and Queen will spend their 20th wedding anniversary evening as guests of honour at a state banquet in Rome. Charles and Camilla are expected to be joined by leading figures from Italian life at the black-tie dinner held during the couple's four-day state visit to Italy. The head of state and his consort wed in a civil ceremony at Windsor Guildhall on April 9 2005 following a romance that began when they were in their early 20s. Charles first met fun, confident Camilla on Windsor Great Park polo field in 1970 when he had just left Cambridge University, a year before he joined the Royal Navy. No marriage proposal came despite the closeness between the pair and when the relationship cooled after Charles dedicated himself to his Navy career, Camilla wed cavalry officer Andrew Parker Bowles in 1973 and Charles later married Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981. After Charles and Camilla both divorced – and Diana died in l997 – Camilla's eventual emergence as Charles' long-term partner was part of a carefully planned PR campaign masterminded by the heir to the throne's spin doctor Mark Bolland. At their wedding reception, held the same day as the Grand National, Queen Elizabeth II said about their romance: 'They have overcome Becher's Brook and The Chair and all kinds of other terrible obstacles. They have come through and I'm very proud and wish them well. 'My son is home and dry with the woman he loves.' During the third day of their Italian state visit, Charles will become the first British monarch to address both houses of Italy's parliament – the chamber of deputies and the senate of the republic. Before delivering his speech to the politicians, the King will have an audience with Italy's prime minister Giorgia Meloni, the country's first female premier who took up office in October 2022 at the head of a coalition of right-wing populist parties.
