Published Jul 20, 2025 • 1 minute read Jannik Sinner of Italy celebrates winning Championship point against Carlos Alcaraz of Spain during the men's singles final on Day 14 of The Championships Wimbledon 2025 at All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on July 13, 2025 in London. Photo by Clive Brunskill / Getty Images TORONTO (AP) — Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner, 24-time Grand Slam title winner Novak Djokovic and No. 5-ranked Jack Draper all withdrew Sunday from the Masters 1000 tournament in Toronto that starts in a week. The No. 1-ranked Sinner cited his injured right elbow, which he hurt in a fall in the fourth round at the All England Club on the way to his first title there and fourth major trophy. He won his first Masters 1000 title in Toronto in 2023. 'Winning that title in Toronto two years ago was the start of a really special moment for me, but after speaking with my team, I have to recover,' Sinner said. Djokovic blamed a groin injury for his withdrawal from an event he has won four times. Djokovic lost to Sinner in the semifinals at Wimbledon. A royal box like never before! Nicole Kidman, Keira Knightley and Anna Wintour slay at Wimbledon final
Wimbledon's Royal Box became a fashion hotspot during the men's final, with style icons like Nicole Kidman, Keira Knightley, and Anna Wintour showcasing stunning looks. Kidman impressed in a cream blazer and trousers, while Knightley opted for an elegant all-white ensemble. This year's Wimbledon men's final wasn't just about the action on the court, the royal box was seriously serving looks. Some major style icons showed up and made it feel more like Fashion Week than a tennis match. Nicole Kidman was spotted deep in chat with Vogue queen Anna Wintour , and the two of them looked effortlessly cool. Nicole nailed that polished-meets-chic vibe in a cream double-breasted blazer with bold black buttons and sharp shoulders. She kept it classic underneath with a buttoned-up white shirt and added pearl earrings, a few dainty rings, and a chunky silver watch for some edge. Cream trousers, a taupe shoulder bag, and vintage black sunnies pulled everything together. And that white straw hat with the black-and-white ribbon? Total Wimbledon energy. Her straight strawberry blonde hair and matte berry lip were the perfect finishing touches - clean, glam, and totally on-point. Just a few seats over, Keira Knightley kept things breezy and elegant in an all-white look: a short-sleeved button-up with wide lapels tucked into relaxed white pants. She styled it up with a pearl-and-gold belt, matching choker, stacked hoops, and sleek black sunglasses. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it legal? Her husband James Righton (yep, from the Klaxons) matched the vibe perfectly in a cream suit and tie. Major couple style goals. LONDON, ENGLAND - JULY 13: Actress Nicole Kidman, former Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Magazine Anna Wintour, musician James Righton and actress Keira Knightley are seen in the Royal Box during the Ladies' Doubles Final match between Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens of Belgium against Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia and Hsieh Su-Wei of Chinese Taipei on day fourteen of The Championships Wimbledon 2025 at All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on July 13, 2025 in London, England. (Photo by) And naturally, Anna Wintour made her signature stylish entrance. She switched things up earlier in the week with a floral Thom Browne dress - long sleeves, drop waist, and soft blue blooms. She paired it with her go-to Manolo Blahniks and signature bob. Same Anna, just with a summery twist. In short? The royal box was less tennis tournament and more front row and honestly, we are not mad about it, are you?

Wimbledon final interrupted by the most Wimbledon thing ever
Clare McGoldrick 13/07/2025 Play was momentarily disrupted during the Wimbledon men's singles final after a flying champagne cork landed at the feet of Jannik Sinner, prompting audible boos from the Centre Court crowd. The interruption occurred during a quiet moment, just as the world number one prepared to serve. A spectator had popped open a bottle of bubbly, launching the cork onto the court. Sinner calmly brushed it away with his racket before handing it to a ball-girl, who promptly removed it. Jannik Sinner of Italy picks up a champagne cork off the court during the Gentleman's Singles Final against Carlos Alcaraz of Spain on day fourteen of The Championships Wimbledon 2025. Pic: Getty On the opposite side of the net, defending champion Carlos Alcaraz appeared visibly frustrated, waving his arms in disbelief after hearing the pop from across the court. Boos echoed around Centre Court in response to the disruption, before a Wimbledon official stepped in with a now-infamous request to the crowd: 'Ladies and gentlemen, as a courtesy to both players, please do not pop champagne corks just as the players are about to serve, thank you.' A champagne cork landed on Centre Court during the Jannik Sinner-Carlos Alcaraz men's singles final at Wimbledon. John McEnroe: "At least take the bottle away from that person." 🎾🍾🎙️ #Wimbledon — Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) July 13, 2025 However, iron-willed Sinner kept his cool through the chaos and went on to defeat defending champion Carlos Alcaraz to claim his first Wimbledon crown. The scene quickly gained traction online, with viewers dubbing it one of the more 'Wimbledon-esque' moments of the tournament – champagne etiquette meeting world-class tennis. "That's exactly why we love playing here!" 😅 Jannik Sinner had to avoid a rogue champagne cork during his victory against Carlos Alcaraz – only at #Wimbledon! — Wimbledon (@Wimbledon) July 13, 2025 Earlier in the week, a fan was scolded by an umpire after sending a cork flying onto the court during a men's doubles quarter-final between Lloyd Glasspool and Julian Cash, and the pairing of Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara. In another incident, American player Amanda Anisimova questioned a spectator mid-match: 'Why are you opening it right now?', as yet another rogue cork caused a delay. The moment prompted chuckles from commentators, who quipped that what followed was 'the most Wimbledon warning you have ever heard' as the umpire once again reminded fans to time their celebrations a little better.

Create Account The No. 1-ranked Sinner earned his fourth Grand Slam title overall, moving him one away from No. 2 Alcaraz's total as the two young rivals separate themselves from the rest of the pack in men's tennis. This victory also allowed Sinner, a 23-year-old Italian, to put an end to several streaks for Alcaraz, a 22-year-old Spaniard. Alcaraz had won the past five head-to-head matches between the pair, most recently across five sets and nearly 5 1/2 hours at Roland-Garros on June 8. Sinner took a two-set lead in that one, then held a trio of match points, but couldn't close the deal. That made Alcaraz 5-0 in major finals. In addition to ending that piece of perfection, Sinner asserted himself in a match that featured moments of terrific play by both men, but also the occasional lapses. Alcaraz stepped into the sunlight bathing Centre Court as the owner of a career-best 24-match unbeaten run. He had won 20 matches in a row at the All England Club, including victories against Novak Djokovic in the 2023 and 2024 finals. The last man to beat Alcaraz at Wimbledon? Sinner, in the fourth round in 2022. Golf Toronto & GTA Toronto & GTA Toronto Raptors World
