Rosie O'Donnell tells Chris Cuomo she was ‘very depressed' and ‘overdrinking' after first Trump win

Rosie O'Donnell told former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo that she was 'very depressed' and 'overdrinking' following President Donald Trump's first election victory in 2016 on 'The Chris Cuomo Project' podcast on Tuesday. O'Donnell revealed that she left the United States for Ireland out of a sense of 'self-preservation' after Trump's second election victory, considering the difficulties she experienced after his first win in 2016. 'During his first go-round, it was very difficult, and I got myself into some bad places. You know, I was very, very depressed. I was overeating. I was overdrinking … I was so depressed, Chris,' she told the former cable host. She also shared that it hurt her heart to know that Americans 'believed the lies' of Trump and, furthermore, that she worked in a business that 'sells those lies for profit.' Another reason O'Donnell listed for leaving the U.S. was to ensure that she could be a 'good parent' to her 12-year-old child. On 'The Chris Cuomo Project' podcast, Rosie O'Donnell told ex-CNN anchor Chris Cuomo that she blamed President Trump's victory on election night in 2016 led her to be 'very depressed' and 'overdrinking.' Getty Images 'Coming to Ireland was totally a way to take care of myself and my non-binary autistic child, who's going to need services and help and counseling and all the things that he's [Trump is] threatening to cut in his horrible plan of the big, beautiful bill,' she stated. Later in their discussion, Cuomo recalled telling O'Donnell after Trump's first victory that 'this is going to affect you a lot more than it's going to affect him,' and asked how moving to Ireland has impacted her life. She told Cuomo that she enjoys the fact that people in Ireland typically don't approach celebrities the way they do in America, and also noted that she feels safe considering there's no 'MAGA support' in the country. After President Trump won the 2024 presidential election, O'Donnell moved out of the United States and now resides in Ireland. Rosie O'Donnell/Instagram O'Donnell related an experience she had in Ireland where an older man bought her a pint of Guinness after she told him that she had left the U.S. because of Trump being elected. She contrasted this with a story from the U.S., where the entertainer and her child were allegedly mocked in a CVS store after Trump won the 2024 election. 'One cursed at us, and she's like, 'Why are they cursing at us?' And I'm like 'Honey you know the bad guy? They're all bad guys too,'' she detailed.

Chris Cuomo EXPLODES as viewer slaps him with stinging label

Former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo launched into a furious tirade at a viewer who accused him of suffering from 'Trump Derangement Syndrome.' Responding to comments on his YouTube show, The Chris Cuomo Project, the 54-year-old NewsNation host - who has previously discussed topics like aliens and UFOs - lashed out after one viewer wrote, 'Stick to aliens. Your TDS clouds your political vision.' 'You don't have any political vision, okay?' Cuomo fired back. 'You are the one suffering from myopia. Look that up.' Myopia, commonly known as nearsightedness, is a refractive error where distant objects appear blurry while close ones are clear. 'You are the one who can't get out of your own way. You have Trump Derangement Syndrome. I don't,' Cuomo continued. He then claimed to have predicted both of Donald Trump 's presidential wins. 'I called his first win. I called his second win,' he said. 'I don't necessarily like that he's what America is choosing, but I understand it.' Cuomo went on to insult the commenter directly: 'You don't, because you just see him as giving you this power that your lowly, stupid ass would never have otherwise. I think we can do better than that.' He added, 'I'm not running for office. I have to be fair. And I don't believe people like you should be judged the same way Trump is. There are a lot of people who are desperate for the right reasons - it's sad, it's unfortunate, and we should do better. 'I'm open to that. I am fair, despite the fact that I have to deal with assholes like you on a regular basis. If this were about my personal life, I might make different choices. But this is what I signed up for, so I will engage you.' Cuomo wrapped up by clarifying his views on extraterrestrial topics: 'And I don't give a shit about aliens. I don't believe in little green men. I don't believe in alien spacecraft.' The ex-CNN anchor's diatribe comes just weeks after he revealed that his bromance with his former co-star Don Lemon was just for show and that the pair now loathe one another. The now-fired duo regularly gushed about each other on-air as Cuomo handed over to Lemon, hosted The Handoff podcast and went on tour together. But, Cuomo has now said the friendship was never real - telling Patrick Bet-David's Home Team podcast their banter was actually the idea of former CNN boss Jeff Zucker, who had concerns about how Lemon would open his show. According to Cuomo, Zucker basically told him he had to 'stay over on Lemon's show to help mitigate whatever's going to come out of his mouth.' Cuomo has previously said that his relationship with Lemon fell apart when he was fired in 2021 over advising his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, as he went through a sexual harassment scandal. The journalist said Lemon did not have his back and never reached out to him after his CNN termination. Cuomo has now sniped that Lemon's stature at the network was boosted by his relationship with Zucker. 'Zucker's best friend is Don Lemon's best friend - who's his agent - so, they had a real bond,' Cuomo claimed. Cuomo, now an anchor on NewsNation, emphasized that there is no love lost when asked whether he would do another podcast with Lemon.

Trump says he'll meet with Bill Maher and Kid Rock: ‘It might be fun'

President Trump has low expectations for his upcoming dinner with talk show host and Trump critic Bill Maher, he said in a social media post on Monday, but he thinks the face-to-face confab could be 'fun.' 'I really didn't like the idea much, and don't like it much now, but thought it would be interesting,' the president wrote to his followers on Truth Social. 'It might be fun or, it might not, but you will be the first to know!' Trump acknowledged he and Maher often have been at odds and said he expects the comedian 'will publicly proclaim what a terrible guy I am,' after they break bread at the White House. 'Who knows, though, maybe I'll be proven wrong?' Trump wrote. The dinner was arranged by musician Kid Rock, a Trump supporter who will also join them for the meal. It's unclear when the sit-down will happen, but Trump said on Truth Social the invitation also has been extended to Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO and President Dana White, a longtime Trump ally. Trump described Maher as 'a man who has been unjustifiably critical of anything, or anyone, TRUMP.' Trump sued Maher in 2013 for $5 million after Maher made a crass joke about Trump's mother and an orangutan. The suit was later dropped. The comedian last week spoke of his plans for the dinner, comparing it to then-President Nixon's (R) historic trip to China in 1972 despite being an ardent opponent of communism. 'Look, it probably will accomplish very little, but you got to try, man, you got to try,' Maher told NewsNation host Chris Cuomo on Friday's episode of 'The Chris Cuomo Project' podcast. Donald Trump confirms he's meeting Bill Maher as a favor to a friend

President Donald Trump says he is meeting with comedian and frequent critic Bill Maher as a favor to his pal, Kid Rock. Kid Rock announced last week that he organized a meet-up between Trump and Maher to'break bread' and to try to 'unite the country.' Now, the president confirmed he will see his on-screen critic face-to-face after being contacted by the musician. 'I got a call from a very good guy, and friend of mine, Kid Rock, asking me whether or not it would be possible for me to meet, in the White House, with Bill Maher, a man who has been unjustifiably critical of anything, or anyone, TRUMP,' the president wrote on Truth Social on Sunday evening. 'I really didn't like the idea much, and don't like it much now, but thought it would be interesting.' 'The problem is, no matter how much he likes your Favorite President, ME, he will publicly proclaim what a terrible guy I am, etc.,' Trump continued. 'Who knows, though, maybe I'll be proven wrong? In any event, I'm doing a favor for a friend.' Trump added: 'I look forward to meeting with Bill Maher, Kid Rock and, I believe, even the Legendary Dana White will be present. It might be fun or, it might not, but you will be the first to know!' Maher previously explained how the meeting came to be on his podcast Club Random. 'Kid Rock was here a couple of weeks ago, and he said, 'I want you to meet Trump,'' he noted. 'He said, 'I'm gonna take you to the White House.' So now we're gonna do that.' The meeting comes more than a decade after Trump filed a $5 million lawsuit against Maher after he joked that Trump was the son of an orangutan, referring to his hair color. The Real Time host also recently compared his dinner with the president to Richard Nixon's historic visit to China in 1972, but admitted his visit wouldn't be able to 'heal' the country. 'I'm doing it because first of all, it was presented as… maybe this is a beginning to heal America. Now, I don't have some sort of complex where I think I can heal America, I can't. Let's get that clear. I'm not going to be healing America,' Maher said on The Chris Cuomo Project podcast last week. 'But if two guys who've been at each other for so long — I mean, it's kind of a Nixon-to-China thing. I have the credentials,' the comedian continued. Maher, a self-described 'old school liberal', then referred to his criticism of both Trump and the Democrats. 'Nobody who was harder on Trump or more prescient about the fact that he wasn't going to leave office voluntarily than I was,' Maher said, adding that the public respects him 'because I'm honest about the woke train to crazy town.' 'It's an honor to be invited to the White House,' the comedian told Cuomo.
