Last chance to watch award winning crime comedy with 'best actor out there' for free

Fans have just days to watch it before it's taken down BBC viewers have a limited time left to stream a highly-rated crime comedy film for free. BlacKkKlansman is currently accessible on the BBC iPlayer at no extra charge. However, it's set to be taken off the platform on July 8 as announced by the broadcaster. ‌ This means that, as of now, movie enthusiasts have less than a fortnight to take advantage of this opportunity. The film narrates the story of Ron Stallworth, an African-American detective who sets out to infiltrate his town's local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan, a white supremacist hate group. ‌ The storyline is based on real events and the autobiography of the actual Ron Stallworth, a black police officer who managed to infiltrate a chapter of the Ku Klux Klan. In the film, Stallworth is played by John David Washington, known for his roles in Tenet and The Creator and also being the son of Denzel Washington. Adam Driver portrays a fellow detective assisting Stallworth with his mission, while Topher Grace plays the role of David Duke, who was the grand master wizard of the Ku Klux Klan during that period, reports Birmingham Live. Despite its historical roots, some scenes are dramatised for impact and deviate from absolute accuracy. Nonetheless, director Spike Lee received accolades from both fans and critics for his handling of such a topic. When it first premiered in 2018, one critic described it as: "Lee's most purely entertaining film since Inside Man in 2006, BlacKkKlansman has a timeliness that taps into an imperative national conversation." Another critic agreed, noting: "Blackkklansman helps Spike Lee finally land in the Best Director field where he deserved a place years ago." ‌ Although the film did secure an Oscar for Lee, the recognition came in the Best Adapted Screenplay category rather than for directing. Reflecting on the impact of the film, one viewer observed: "An all time great movie on American history and its future. A terrific plot and acting I can't say much more then this. It is a must watch for anyone that likes films about the evils in the world. Not so much as a eye widener as much as a of a jaw dropper. Just fantastic". The central performances were also lauded by another viewer, who praised: "John David Washington is possibly the best actor out right now. His father has an aura that steals any scene and role, but John's range is phenomenal. He has the ability to make you forget who he is in the character, but love the character. He and Adam driver work so well together. Great movie." Further acclaim for the film came from another individual who commented: "BlacKkKlansman masterfully blends biting satire with powerful social commentary, delivering a gripping and thought-provoking narrative that is both entertaining and deeply resonant."

Jurassic World Rebirth director Gareth Edwards on following in Steven Spielberg's footsteps

Like most directors of his generation, Gareth Edwards is a student of Steven Spielberg's films. The unassuming British filmmaker has echoed Spielberg ever since his low-budget 2010 debut Monsters, crafting thoughtful, big-scale spectacles. His 2014 blockbuster Godzilla saw him deliver the ultimate monster movie as he re-birthed the Japanese kaiju tradition He followed that in 2016 with the acclaimed Star Wars spin-off tale Rogue One . In 2023, he made The Creator , a beautiful sci-fi film that felt emotionally tied to Spielberg's A.I. Artificial Intelligence. Edwards was exhausted after The Creator, but then came the offer of a lifetime: Spielberg and producer Frank Marshall wanted him to continue their beloved Jurassic franchise. Play Ever since Spielberg's 1993 classic Jurassic Park, adapted from Michael Crichton's novel about a billionaire tycoon who plays God by breeding dinosaurs from fossilised DNA, the series has become one of the most popular in Hollywood history.

Just dandy: Classic gentleman and old-school grooming resurgence

If this year's Met Gala is anything to go by, the classic gentleman and old-school grooming are gearing up for a resurgence. The much-anticipated gala theme — Superfine: Tailoring Black Style — was an ode to Black dandyism, an African-American cultural movement dating back to the 19th century that also had some roots in Central Africa with the rise of Les Sapeurs. As a response to slavery and racial discrimination, Black men adopted the European concept of dandyism as a way to used clothes, impeccable grooming, and self-expression to counteract societal limitations, exercise autonomy, reclaim a sense of dignity, and redefine what it meant to be a Black man. Ranging from zoot suits to perfectly coiffed hair, dandyism was all about expressing a strong sense of individuality and pride by dressing to the nines. Today, touches of dandyism can be seen in tastemakers such as Dapper Dan and musician Tyler, The Creator, giving new life to the aesthetic as it merges with an effortless, Gen-Z cool for a refreshing reinterpretation. Trending: The modern dandy. Lean into old-school barbering and dapper trims. Bearded excellence: Despite dandyism being associated with a clean-shaven gent — or, at most a neatly trimmed pencil moustache — the modern take brings the bearded gang into that culture. A full beard has become a popular choice over the years and dabbling in dandyism doesn't mean going for the chop. Apply the principle of 'impeccable grooming' and go for one that is combed out, neatly trimmed, and finished off with a nourishing oil.

Instagram Adds Real-Time Spotify Sharing Feature; How To Share Spotify Music In Notes

Instagram Spotify Song: Instagram, a Meta-owned platform, is rolling out a new feature ahead of World Music Day on June 21 that will allow users to share the music they're currently listening to on Spotify directly through Notes. The new feature will display the live track being played on Spotify, including the song title and artist. It builds on Instagram's ongoing collaboration with Spotify, which began last year with the introduction of the 'Add to Spotify' button. Now, users can give friends a live peek into their music choices, making it easier to connect over shared tastes or discover new tracks. Notably, Notes, the short text updates that appear above DMs, have supported music sharing on the platform since last year. Instagram Launches New Artist Inspiration Intiative, Additional In-App Features

This story was originally published on Social Media Today. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Social Media Today newsletter. Instagram's rolling out some new sharing features, along with a new campaign to highlight creativity in the app, which will be headlined by a range of popular musicians. Because Instagram would love to become the home of music sharing. TikTok is the leader on this front, with TikTok trends now playing a significant role in music promotion. But with TikTok's future in the U.S. still in doubt, Instagram's been slowly ramping up its music content focus, in the hopes of supplanting TikTok in this respect. First off, on new features. The main addition of note is the option to rearrange your IG profile grid, which Instagram has been developing for some time. As you can see in this example, soon, you'll be able to customize the presentation of your posts on your IG profile, giving you more control over what people see when they visit your Instagram presence. That could provide a range of benefits, and will be a welcome update for many creators. Instagram says that this is being rolled to all users from today. Instagram's also adding a new feature for its inbox Notes, which will enable you to share songs from Spotify direct to your Notes display. That adds another element to your conversational prompts, and another music engagement option. As noted, Instagram has also added 'Add Yours Music' stickers, music in Notes, song lyrics display in Reels, and songs on profiles over the past year. In addition to these, Instagram also says that it's exploring new ways to enable users to quietly post to their profile without broadcasting it to everyone's feeds, while it's also making trial Reels available to everyone. Both measures are designed to encourage more creative expression, by reducing in-stream pressure, as part of a broader push from IG to get more people sharing more content in the app. Which leads into the final element, with a new project that will highlight how popular musicians have explored their creativity. As part of its expanded creative push, Instagram's highlighting how these stars feel about showcasing their work, and connecting with an audience. As per Instagram: 'Beginning today, you'll see creative journeys from people like Tyler, The Creator, Rosalía, Fred Again.., Nadia Lee Cohen, Cole Bennett, Clint 419, and Slawn, in a series of films about the power of a creative chance. These powerful voices embody our mission and remind us that everyone starts somewhere. We're inspired by their stories and humbled by the small role Instagram has played in them.' The video clips aim to provide inspiration for your own creative efforts, by showcasing how these well-known stars have explored their passions through their work. Which is also the inspiration behind IG's new 'Drafts' project, which will see the platform invest in emerging talent, in order to support creators and artists 'at critical moments in their journey.' 'We'll partner with the next-generation of creative voices, like Sailorr, Tyrell Hampton, Young Emperors, and Jake Fleming, to provide them with the financial support, connections, co-ideation and collaboration opportunities needed to bring their creative projects to life.' The broader aim, again, is to make Instagram a place where creators 'feel free to take more creative chances, break through whatever barrier holds them back and realize their ambitions.' I mean, enhanced monetization would probably also help in this respect, though IG is also working on this aspect, with a growing array of creator tools and options. Finally, Instagram's also adding a new font for Stories and Reels, inspired by Rosalia's handwriting. Which I don't really see how it fits into the broader creative emphasis here, but it's another option either way. This is an interesting new push from IG, putting more specific focus on creators and how they approach their work, as a means to inspire others. That could be effective, especially with a specific focus on how Instagram has helped them reach an audience, and build a profile online. And really, profile grid re-arranging is an add-on here, not really related to the rest. But under the broader banner of creative expression, it's another element to consider.
