'Great American pilots very upset': Trump slams 'fake news' over Iran strikes; teases 'irrefutable' proof
US President Donald Trump (Image credit: AP) US President Donald Trump on Wednesday claimed that the fighter pilots who struck Iran's nuclear facilities are "upset" as questions are being raised about the operation's success. "These Patriots were very upset! After 36 hours of dangerously flying through Enemy Territory, they landed, they knew the Success was LEGENDARY, and then, two days later, they started reading Fake News by CNN and The Failing New York Times," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, adding that the two outlets "lied and totally misrepresented the facts" so that they could "demean" him. Further, the MAGA leader announced that defense secretary Pete Hegseth will hold a press conference to address the controversy, and teased that some "irrefutable" proof would be produced to confirm the success of Operation Midnight Hammer. "Secretary of Defense (War!) Pete Hegseth, together with Military Representatives, will be holding a Major News Conference tomorrow morning at 8 A.M. EST (Thursday, 5:30 pm IST) at The Pentagon, in order to fight for the Dignity of our Great American Pilots. The News Conference will prove both interesting and irrefutable. Enjoy!" he posted. While Trump has repeatedly trumpeted that the Operation Midnight Hammer "obliterated" Iran's nuclear sites, leaked assessment reports suggested that the strikes only temporarily set back Iran's nuclear programme. The Trump administration has pushed back, with members such as secretary of state Marco Rubio, intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard, Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, and the president himself calling out media's "propaganda."

'For Dignity Of American Pilots': Trump Announces 'Major News Briefing' Over US Strikes In Iran
Donald Trump announced a major Pentagon news conference to defend American pilots after US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. US Secretary of Defence, Pete Hegseth, will hold a major news conference at 8 am (US local time), US President Donald Trump has announced, hours after he reiterated his claims of 'obliterating" Iranian nuclear sites during its targeted strikes on June 22. In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote that the press conference would be to 'fight for the dignity" of the American pilots. Trump mentioned that the US pilots were upset after 36 hours of 'dangerously flying" through Iran, and when two days later, they came across 'fake news" questioning the effectiveness of the US airstrikes on Iran's nuclear facilities. 'Secretary of Defense (War!) Pete Hegseth, together with Military Representatives, will be holding a Major News Conference tomorrow morning at 8 A.M. EST at The Pentagon, in order to fight for the Dignity of our Great American Pilots," Trump wrote on Truth Social. 'These Patriots were very upset! After 36 hours of dangerously flying through Enemy Territory, they landed, they knew the Success was LEGENDARY, and then, two days later, they started reading Fake News by CNN and The Failing New York Times," he added. 'They felt terribly! Fortunately for them and, as usual, solely for the purpose of demeaning PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP, the Fake News (Times and CNN) lied and totally misrepresented the Facts, none of which they had (because it was too soon, there were no Facts out there yet!)," Trump wrote. 'The News Conference will prove both interesting and irrefutable. Enjoy!" he mentioned. lashed out at media accounts of a classified report that doubted the extent of damage to Iranian nuclear sites. The US military said it dropped 14 GBU-57 bunker-buster bombs, powerful 13,600-kilogram (30,000-pound) weapons, on three Iranian nuclear sites. Trump has repeatedly said that the attack 'obliterated" Iran's nuclear facilities, including the key site of Fordow buried inside a mountain. However, an initial classified assessment, first reported by CNN, was said to have concluded that the strike did not destroy key components and that Iran's nuclear program was set back only months at most. Later, Trump lashed out at the CNN reporter behind the story, taking to his Truth Social platform, to demand that the network fire her. WHAT EXPERTS SAID A key question raised by experts is whether Iran, preparing for the strike, moved out some 400 kilograms (880 pounds) of enriched uranium, which could now be hidden elsewhere in the vast country. 'I can tell you, the United States had no indication that that enriched uranium was moved prior to the strikes, as I also saw falsely reported," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News. 'As for what's on the ground right now, it's buried under miles and miles of rubble because of the success of these strikes on Saturday evening," she said. Vice President JD Vance, asked about the uranium on Sunday, had sounded less definitive and said the United States would discuss the issue with Iran. The quantity of uranium had been reported by the UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, with which Iran is considering severing cooperation after the Israeli and US strikes on its nuclear program. Russia-Ukraine Conflict: After Meeting Zelenskyy, Trump Shows Frustration With Putin Over Latest Airstrikes, Threatens To...
Russia-Ukraine War: US President Donald Trump expressed more frustration with Russia and questioned President Vladimir Putin's willingness to stop the war after recent airstrikes on Ukraine. He also threatened to deal 'differently' with Moscow through 'banking' and 'secondary' sanctions. Trump's remarks came after he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Vatican on the sidelines of Pope Francis' funeral on Saturday. The latest meeting between the two leaders was the first since their meeting in the White House, when Zelenskyy faced heat from Trump and Vice President JD Vance over what they saw as a lack of gratitude for the support from Washington. In a post shared on his social media platform, Truth Social, as he was heading back to Washington from Rome, the US President hinted at imposing sanctions against Moscow after Russia's latest missile attack on Ukraine and questioned whether Putin wants to stop the war. After Trump's criticisism of Zelenskyy over his recent remarks on Crimea, calling them "harmful to peace negotiations" with Russia, he had highlighted that Ukraine has upheld a complete ceasefire for 44 days following a proposal from Washington, while Moscow continued its attacks, launching nearly 70 missiles and around 150 attack drones during that time. Donald Trump even criticised former US President Barack Obama and suggested that he "made it possible for Russia to steal Crimea from Ukraine without even a shot being fired." In a post shared on Truth Social on Saturday, Trump shared, "No matter what deal I make with respect to Russia/Ukraine, no matter how good it is, even if it's the greatest deal ever made, The Failing New York Times will speak BADLY of it. Liddle' Peter Baker, the very biased and untalented writer for The Times, followed his Editor's demands and wrote that Ukraine should get back territory, including, I suppose, Crimea, and other ridiculous requests, in order to stop the killing that is worse than anything since World War II. Why doesn't this lightweight reporter say that it was Obama who made it possible for Russia to steal Crimea from Ukraine without even a shot being fired. It was also Liddle' Peter who wrote an absolutely fawning, yet terribly written Biography, on Obama. It was a JOKE! Did Baker ever criticize the Obama Crimea Giveaway? NO, not once, only TRUMP, and I've had nothing to do with this stupid war, other than early on, when I gave Ukraine Javelins, and Obama gave them sheets." "This is Sleepy Joe Biden's War, not mine. It was a loser from day one, and should have never happened, and wouldn't have happened if I were President at the time. I'm just trying to clean up the mess that was left to me by Obama and Biden, and what a mess it is. With all of that being said, there was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities and towns, over the last few days. It makes me think that maybe he doesn't want to stop the war, he's just tapping me along, and has to be dealt with differently, through "Banking" or "Secondary Sanctions?" Too many people are dying," he added. Trump and Zelenskyy spoke ahead of the funeral of Pope Francis. Describing his meeting with Trump as "good," Zelenskyy said that talks focused on "full and unconditional ceasefire." He expressed hope to see results on everything they discussed. In a post on X, Zelenskyy said, "Good meeting. We discussed a lot one-on-one. Hoping for results on everything we covered. Protecting lives of our people. Full and unconditional ceasefire. Reliable and lasting peace that will prevent another war from breaking out. Very symbolic meeting that has potential to become historic, if we achieve joint results. Thank you POTUS." Trump and Zelenskyy had a "very productive" meeting in Rome, a White House official said - their first meeting since a tense meeting in the White House in February this year.

Trump: Putin ‘tapping me along' with Russia strikes on Ukraine
President Trump on Saturday said he thinks Russian President Vladimir Putin may be stringing him along after the latest deadly strikes on Ukraine, as the U.S. seeks to bring an end to the war in Eastern Europe. 'There was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities and towns, over the last few days,' Trump posted Saturday on Truth Social. 'It makes me think that maybe he doesn't want to stop the war, he's just tapping me along, and has to be dealt with differently, through 'Banking' or 'Secondary Sanctions?' Too many people are dying!!!' His post came as the president was traveling back to the U.S. following Pope Francis's funeral in Rome and after he met briefly with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The two leaders spoke ahead of the funeral, their first face-to-face interaction since the contentious Oval Office meeting earlier this year. The White House has not yet released details on what was discussed during the roughly 15-minute meeting. Trump's latest remarks also come in contrast to what he said week ago, when the president insisted 'nobody's playing me.' Earlier this week, Trump lashed out at Putin after Russia launched deadly strikes on the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv. He then expressed frustration on Friday with Zelensky, saying he is late to sign the minerals agreement with the U.S., nearly two months after an expected deal signing was called off. The Trump administration has been pushing for a permanent truce in the war in Ukraine, but top officials have in recent days signaled they are prepared to walk away from negotiations if the two sides don't reach a deal soon. The president began his comments on Saturday by casting blame on the media, especially The New York Times reporter Peter Baker, following his comments that he believes Crimea will stay under Moscow's control as part of a deal to end the war. 'No matter what deal I make with respect to Russia/Ukraine, no matter how good it is, even if it's the greatest deal ever made, The Failing New York Times will speak BADLY of it,' the president wrote. 'Liddle' Peter Baker, the very biased and untalented writer for The Times, followed his Editor's demands and wrote that Ukraine should get back territory, including, I suppose, Crimea, and other ridiculous requests, in order to stop the killing that is worse than anything since World War II.' 'Why doesn't this lightweight reporter say that it was [former President] Obama who made it possible for Russia to steal Crimea from Ukraine without even a shot being fired,' he added. In the lengthy post, Trump went on to call the conflict former President Biden's war and doubled down on an argument he made often while on the campaign trail — that the war wouldn't have started if he had defeated 'Sleepy' Biden in 2020. 'It was a loser from day one, and should have never happened, and wouldn't have happened if I were President at the time,' he wrote. 'I'm just trying to clean up the mess that was left to me by Obama and Biden, and what a mess it is.' Trump, in a recent interview with Time magazine, blamed Ukraine for initiating the war with Russia by eyeing a NATO membership. He also contended that Russia would be making a concession toward peace if it agrees not to take over Ukraine. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
