The Trump-Epstein circular firing squad is just like an episode of ‘Seinfeld'

The Jeffrey Epstein scandal that has engulfed the Trump administration and MAGA world is like an episode of 'Seinfeld.' Somebody does something stupid and the remainder of the show is about the reactions of a cast of soulless characters who are so without redeeming qualities, you can't root for any of them. Donald Trump's decision not to release whatever is in the Epstein files has paralyzed the most MAGA of conservative media outlets. When I checked earlier today, The Federalist, The Daily Caller and Breitbart were all doing their best to ignore the story dividing Trumpists like never before. It is like the digital outlets are waiting for orders from on high, but the leading voices are a confused cacophony, not the usual Trumpy chorus. Fox News and the Wall Street Journal opinion page are both promoting an op-ed by former Epstein lawyer Alan Dershowitz that is as confused as this Seinfeldian story about nothing. You see, Dershowitz says there's nothing to see here, Epstein committed suicide and was not murdered, but the jail staff may have helped him. Oh, also there's nothing incriminating about Trump. Suicide is a fraught subject that must be handled delicately in all instances, but I am not so clear on how there can be help from the people who are supposed to be guarding you. I didn't know it was OK for the guards to deliver 'assisted' suicide services normally provided by medical personnel. Wouldn't that be a scandal? Dershowitz blames the fact that you can't see the Justice Department files on court-ordered secrecy, as if suddenly the Trump administration has gotten all Emily Post about following judges' orders. Meanwhile the formerly conservative Drudge Report, enemy of all things Emily Post and still frequented by many on the right who want a dose of the day's tabloid fare, is promoting rumors that a big Trump-Epstein story is about to appear in the pages of either The Washington Post, The New York Times or The Wall Street Journal. Just as I am writing this, The Wall Street Journal breathlessly published a story marked 'exclusive' that, along with dozens of other people, Trump wrote a bawdy letter to Epstein for his 50th birthday. In this letter, Trump allegedly drew a naughty picture with breasts and pubic hair. Oh, my. The only thing worth being on the front page is that Trump called the Journal's top editor to try to stop the story with a lawsuit threat. So it is no wonder the White House and Trump himself are livid at all this attention with the press secretary blasting people like me who keep covering this 'like it's the biggest story that the American people care about.' For once, Karoline Leavitt appears to be sticking to the facts. Conservative talk radio hosts who I listen to, such as Erick Erickson, report that while their 'very online' listeners are mad as hell, their ideological cousins who have touched grass more recently couldn't care less. If it is not clear already, I am watching the whole kerfuffle and enjoying every minute. If a political movement born of nothing but Trump's grudges, conspiracy theories and self-interest deserves anything, it is to suffer a circular firing squad about Trump holding a grudge against his supporters who still believe a conspiracy theory that is suddenly no longer in Trump's self-interest. This won't be the last time that Trump's imaginary hobgoblins will come back to haunt him. Wait until his handpicked Attorney General Pam Bondi fails to come up with anyone to indict for stealing the 2020 election, as all Trump's supporters have been promised. We'll think back on this week's Epstein blowup as a little family disagreement. If we were watching a 'Seinfeld' episode, this is where Jerry would be told, 'No soup for you,' and we'd all have a good laugh. It isn't so funny when the job prospects of our top law enforcement officers depend on the outcome of a scandal about nothing and the president seems more engaged with the fate of a dead sex trafficker than the real lives of the people he is supposed to govern.

When judges get lawless, pushing Jews to quit and other commentary

Courts watch: When Judges Get Lawless Despite repeated Supreme Court warnings against nationwide injunctions, obstinate district-court judges kept insisting upon their right to 'micro-manage' the executive branch, fumes The Federalist's Margo Cleveland. That created a 'consequence-free environment' where 'incorrigible' judges could serve 'ideology' rather than real justice. Judges are doubling down on their unconstitutional demands, with one just last week entering 'an order at odds with a Supreme Court decision only hours old.' At this point, 'one must wonder what would happen if Trump decided he's done following the lawless orders of the district courts.' Will these judges realize in time that 'their own lawlessness is destroying the reputation of the courts'? Hate beat: Pushing Jews To Quit 'When institutions make life uncomfortable for Jews, there is usually a simple reason for it: Those with influence within the institution want fewer Jews hanging around,' argues Commentary's Seth Mandel. 'The British Medical Association's descent into an unhealthy fixation' on Palestinians and no 'other oppressed minority' sure looks intended to drive out Jewish members. And 'North Carolina's Democratic Party executive committee' just 'passed a resolution accusing Israel of 'genocide' and calling for the US to institute a defense embargo against the Jewish state,' culminating a prolonged push to make the party 'even more hostile to Jewish members.' As 'these 'symbolic' tactics proliferate,' realize they're 'not actually focused on Israel' but on finding 'ways to make Jews feel uncomfortable.' Foreign desk: Euro's Green Debacle 'Europe's latest meltdown over environmental policy' is 'entertaining,' quips The Wall Street Journal's editorial board. A new EU 'rule would force companies to hire consultants to vet claims about environmental friendliness that firms slap on their packaging and marketing.' 'An uproar kicked off last month' when European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen's spokesman 'suggested she might drop the proposal.' Left-wingers in the European Parliament 'are furious that she might abandon a green policy they like.' Her U-turn 'could open the door to a no-confidence motion against her.' 'Many European voters and most businesses probably would cheer, or at worst shrug, if Ms. von der Leyen dropped the green rule.' 'Yet climate piety is so deeply ingrained in Europe's political class that many struggle to read the electoral winds,' proving 'this episode is European dysfunction in a nutshell.' Democrat: Good Riddance to Randi Weingarten Now that American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten has resigned from the Democratic National Committee, party leaders should 'lock the door behind her as she makes her way out,' snarks Ben Austin at The Hill. 'Weingarten was a key architect of the disastrous Biden-Harris pandemic school closures,' which erased 'two decades of learning progress' for school children and also eliminated 'Democrats' massive electoral advantage' on the education issue. On school choice, she 'gaslit' Democrats into opposing GOP initiatives as she tried 'to make sure there is no choice of any kind.' 'The party that invented public charter schools under Bill Clinton, then scaled them under Barack Obama, can't even say 'charter school.' ' Democrats were once 'the party of public education because they had the courage to fight for it.' 'That courage is needed again.' Economists: Things Are Great Populists right and left have united in 'doomsaying' over a 'zero-sum grievance' culture, grumble Clifford S. Asness & Michael R. Strain at The Free Press. Both sides fret that 'the game is rigged, the system is broken, everything is awful, and life was better decades ago.' In fact, 'there has never been a better time to be alive than the present day.' Consider 'the undeniable reality of today's extreme broad-based prosperity and human flourishing' worldwide. 'Wages for typical American workers have never been higher,' the rate of violent crime 'has been cut in half' and 'personal consumption is at a record level.' Beware: 'The news business relies on outraging you.' While our country isn't problem-free, we have it 'pretty, pretty good.' — Compiled by The Post Editorial Board

Sean Davis: Congress Has Become An Influencer Game

Co-founder and CEO of The Federalist Sean Davis joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to shed light on why he's pessimistic about the likelihood Congress will be able to codify key parts of President Trump's agenda. 'I worked in the Senate, you know, 20 years ago, and I did a lot of parliamentary work for the guy I used to work for, Tom Coburn. And I would read all these old speeches to understand precedents and rules from senators in like the 60s and 70s. These guys were rolling down to the floor with no staff, having shockingly specific and precise commentaries and colloquies about arcane rules. I'm not sure most of these guys could make their way to the floor of the Senate or the House without a map from staff and someone holding their hand. There's just no interest in doing the actual nuts and bolts work of it, and it's not a partisan thing. I think most of them are idiots, and I think it's terrible for the country, because what they've realized is if you give all your power to the president, you get all the perks of being in the office, but you don't get any of the accountability or blowback because you can just blame the president. You can blame the Supreme Court. You don't ever actually have to be accountable for anything, and it might be great for them, but I think it's terrible for the country.' Dem shredded for calling to put 'every single' illegal immigrant on a quick path to citizenship

Rep. Maxwell Frost, D-Fla., was blasted for arguing Wednesday that the best way to solve the illegal immigration crisis is by providing everyone with a path to citizenship. Frost hosted a press conference alongside multiple immigrant advocacy groups to announce his "Stop Unlawful Detention and End Mistreatment" or "SUDEM" Act. This legislation pushes for transparency in immigration detention by requiring all ICE-operated or ICE-affiliated facilities to be held accountable for their actions. Frost declared that he and his allied groups are "fighting to hold Donald Trump, his administration and this state accountable for a taxpayer-funded kidnapping program trafficking our people across the entire world that they're running under the disguise of an immigration system." 'Squad' Dem Says Trump May Jail People 'For Practicing Diversity' After Visiting Ice-detained Students After declaring that "being undocumented in this country is not a crime," the lawmaker proposed that the best way to lower the number of illegal immigrants is simply to legalize them. "We are an immigrant-filled community. We are a community filled with people. And yes, people are going to have different statuses, and to my Republican colleagues that say, "I don't want any undocumented people in this country,' I actually agree with you. So, let's document every single one of them with a speedy path to citizenship. That's how we fix this problem," Frost said. Read On The Fox News App Video of his comment drew immediate backlash online, with many arguing this is a mask-off moment for the Democratic Party agenda. "If citizenship is reduced merely to a piece of government-issued paper then it is entirely meaningless," The Federalist correspondent Brianna Lyman argued. Trump's homeland security advisor, Stephen Miller, responded to the clip by warning, "If the Democrats were to obtain full political control of Washington they would swiftly complete the project of relocating the destitute and developing nations of the world in your communities and then giving them the full rights and privileges of US citizenship." Click Here For More Coverage Of Media And Culture "Dems say the quiet part out loud - make EVERY illegal alien legal, including the murderers, rapists, and other criminals," White House deputy press secretary Abigail Jackson said. "No way in hell." "Here is an idea: no," Townhall columnist Dustin Grage replied to the video. Christina Pushaw, spokeswoman for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, replied with a simple, "Nope."Original article source: Dem shredded for calling to put 'every single' illegal immigrant on a quick path to citizenship

CBS News hammered on social media for promoting 'No Kings Day' anti-Trump protest merchandise

CBS News is currently facing backlash on social media after they posted what appeared to be an advertisement for "No Kings Day" protest merchandise to X on Friday, with users slamming the outlet for pushing the anti-Trump goods on the eve of a large-scale political protest. Thousands of people are expected to rally in hundreds of cities across America on Saturday to protest the Trump administration and counter the president's military parade in Washington, D.C. to mark the Army's 250th birthday. Today is also Flag Day, which commemorates the adoption of the U.S. flag on June 14, 1777. The counter-protesters are framing their demonstrations under the slogan "No Kings," describing it as a "day of defiance" against President Donald Trump and his allies while others have been calling for the president to be "dethroned." Author and Senior Analyst for strategy at the Center for Security Policy, J. Michael Waller, slammed CBS news for marketing "radical merchandise on eve of nationwide protest/riot." Another X user, Bonchie, a writer for the conservative news outlet RedState, mocked the news outlet for "doing free advertisements for Chinese-made, left-wing protest merch." Mollie Hemingway, editor-in-chief of The Federalist and a Fox News contributor, criticized the liberal news outlet for "no longer even remotely pretending to be news" and for embracing its role as "Democrat propagandists." Another X user questioned whether CBS News "advertising merch for a political event" violates any Federal Communications Commission (FCC) guidelines, slamming the outlet's decision for being "highly unethical." This is not the only controversy CBS News is currently embroiled in. In May, CBS News President and CEO Wendy McMahon announced she was stepping down in a stunning move for the embattled company. Her exit follows that of longtime "60 Minutes" producer Bill Owens, who quit the prior month because he felt he'd lost journalistic independence amid an ongoing legal battle with Trump. In another blow to the troubled company, "60 Minutes" correspondent Scott Pelley spoke out about President Donald Trump's lawsuit against CBS and its parent company last Saturday, arguing that a settlement would be "very damaging." "Well, it'd be very damaging to CBS, to Paramount, to the reputation of those companies," Pelley said during a conversation with CNN's Anderson Cooper on Saturday, who asked how harmful a settlement and potential apology would be to the network. Trump filed a lawsuit against Paramount Global, CBS News' parent company, over a "60 Minutes" interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris in October 2024. Fox News Digital confirmed that Trump rejected a $15 million offer to settle his lawsuit, according to a source familiar with the matter, as the president's legal team is also demanding at least $25 million and an apology from CBS News. Fox News Digital has reached out to CBS News for comment regarding their article on "No Kings Day" merchandise.
