The Four Horsemen is finally getting a follow-up restaurant, a whole acclaimed decade later
Ten years after James Murphy and crew quietly revolutionized the wine bar scene with The Four Horsemen, the team is finally ready for their sophomore act—and they're not straying far. I Cavallini, a 70-seat Italian(ish) restaurant, opens Wednesday, July 16 just across the street from their Williamsburg cult classic, with chef Nick Curtola again at the helm. If The Four Horsemen is a cozy vinyl-spun whisper of a restaurant, I Cavallini is its roomier, moodier sibling with a passport full of Italian stamps and just enough swagger to pull off eel toast. (Yes, that's a thing—crispy-fried with pine nuts and golden raisins.) The name translates to 'the little horses' and the vibe lands somewhere between Florentine trattoria and downtown wine haunt with vintage glassware, reclaimed ceiling beams and an actual sculpture nicknamed Randy. While the initial vision leaned entirely Italian, Curtola and his team wisely zagged. 'A lot of that food works because you're in Italy and you're in some beautiful city in some beautiful old restaurant and there's a nonna in back doing the cooking,' Curtola told Grub Street. 'It felt weird being in Brooklyn trying to re-create that.' So instead of rigid authenticity, I Cavallini channels Italy's soul with a Brooklyn filter: mussel panzanella with lovage and pickled green tomatoes, nervetti salad tossed with chive-blossom vinegar and a bluefin tuna dish with chervil gremolata and rare risina beans imported from Umbria. On the drinks side, it's a full pour: a 100-bottle all-Italian natural wine list (assembled with a wink to late partner and wine savant Justin Chearno) and original cocktails by JoJo Colonna of Attaboy. Think: a Prosecco-meets-absinthe Milo Spritz, a tomato-gin Pomozoni and the mezcal-soaked Cavallo Giallo. Desserts are anything but an afterthought. Honey gelato and melon sorbet get served in Depression-era glassware, while the tiramisu, inspired by Florence's famed Trattoria Cammillo, gets built to order with overnight-soaked ladyfingers and espresso from cult roaster Maru. Many Four Horsemen day-ones are crossing the street to help bring this new vision to life—chef de cuisine Ben Zook, sous-chefs Jonathan Vogt and Max Baez and wine director Flo Barth among them. And with music-geek-worthy acoustics, a menu that sidesteps clichés and just enough sentimental detail, I Cavallini already feels like more than just a sequel.

‘It's everything you want': Dave Franco teases Now You See Me: Now You Don't
Dave Franco has teased 'Now You See Me: Now You Don't' will be "everything you want". The 39-year-old actor is set to reprise his role as street magician Jack Wilder in the upcoming threequel, and has now teased 'Now You See Me: Now You Don't' will delight fans - with Rosamund Pike's new villain being a particular stand-out. Speaking to Collider, Franco said: "We got some new fun characters - we got an incredible villain with Rosamund Pike, who's just an absolute pro. It's everything you want." As well as Pike, 'Now You See Me: Now You Don't' will introduce the next generation of magicians as portrayed by Ariana Greenblatt, Justice Smith, and Dominic Sessa. Meanwhile, Franco will be reteaming with his fellow 'Now You See Me' co-stars Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Mark Ruffalo and Morgan Freeman. Reflecting on reuniting with 'The Four Horsemen' - as portrayed by himself, Harrelson, Eisenberg and Fisher - Franco pointed to the "natural camaraderie" they share, which he believes "bleeds through onto the screen". He said: "I've known this cast for nearly 15 years now, and we all genuinely love each other. There's no set that I laugh on more. "I just adore these people, and I think the natural camaraderie that we have kind of bleeds through onto the screen, and people can feel how much fun we're having." 'Now You See Me: Now You Don't' - which is being directed by Ruben Fleischer - will see the return of 'The Four Horsemen', though they appear to be disbanded as a group in the early moments of the movie. Eisenberg's J. Daniel Atlas tells a new generation of illusionists his former team is "dead" in a trailer for the new flick, which is slated for release in November. He clarifies: "To me. Things got too real for them. They gave up stuff." The story of 'Now You See Me: Now You Don't' revolves around a diamond heist, involving both the original Horsemen and newcomers played by Greenblatt, Smith and Sessa, as they work together against a criminal organisation. Greenblatt's character declares in the trailer: "I like our odds." The title for 'Now You See Me: Now You Don't' was unveiled last month at CinemaCon, where Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson revealed Fleischer would also return for a fourth movie. Fogelson said: "We were so happy with the director's cut, we're already developing the next chapter. "We can't wait for audiences to discover what he's done with the third film and thrilled he'll be making even more magic with us." Fleischer added: "Directing 'Now You See Me: Now You Don't' was as much fun as making any movie in my career. "It combines two of my favorite things - heist movies and magic - and working with this incredible cast was truly magical. Of course I want to keep it going."

Now You See Me 3 fans get paid $119 to watch the trailer, yet most remain unimpressed: ‘A new level of desperation'
Few movies can make magicians look cool without making you cringe, but Now You See Me (2013) has done it twice! Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, and Mark Ruffalo, the magic-themed heist series has captivated audiences across the world. Now back for a third instalment with some new faces, joining the cast are Ariana Greenblatt, Dominic Sessa, Rosamund Pike, and Justice Smith. The trailer for Now You See Me: Now You Don't (finally, right?) just dropped, and here's what fans have to say. But before we delve into what people think of the trailer, there's another part of this whole saga that deserves our attention: the Times Square promo that had people checking their bank accounts in joy. Taken straight out of the script, one of the major promos behind the film, the makers live-streamed a mysterious billboard in Times Square on TikTok. And here's the twist: everyone who signed up for the livestream was Venmoed $119. Yes, you read that right. The movie magic turned into real cash, just like some of the most captivating scenes in the movie. According to Pop Crave on X, those who tuned into the broadcast saw their bank accounts magically grow by the exact amount. Unsurprisingly, the internet had… feelings about this. 'Paying people to see a movie is a new level of desperation and sadness,' one person declared. On the flip side, some folks were downright amazed. 'That's wild—literal movie magic turning into real cash!' another fan joked. 'Later it's gonna reverse and people are gonna have negative balances,' one fan quipped, referring to the main trick The Four Horsemen executed in the first film against billionaire Arthur Tressler. While many fans were happy to see their favourite Horsemen back in action with a few additions, others had questions. One commenter wondered: 'I'm not seeing Mark Ruffalo. I wonder what their excuse will be.' While some fans are genuinely curious about the absence of the beloved actor, others are getting suspicious. Could this be an intentional misdirect? Another fan put the whole vibe of the trailer into one sentence saying: 'This trailer looks like it was made in 2008.' One more fan commented, 'That is why I hate these movies. They want to be clever and slick but the writers aren't clever and slick enough to actually write them that way.' So, what's the final verdict? Is Now You See Me: Now You Don't going to pull off the impossible once again? Or has the franchise overstayed its welcome, with too many new characters, too many tricks, and not enough heart?
