President Donald Trump approval rating: Poll finds new low for Trump

President Donald Trump's approval rating has dropped to a new low point, according to a new poll. A Quinnipiac University poll published on June 11 found that 38% of respondents approve of the job the 47th president is doing, while 54% disapprove of his work. This is the first time during Trump's second term that a Quinnipiac University poll has found the president's approval rating under 40%, according to RealClearPolitics' poll average. The poll also found more respondents disapproving of Trump's handling of immigration (43% approve, 54% disapprove) deportations (40% approve, 56% disapprove), the economy (40% approve, 56% disapprove) trade (38% approve, 57% disapprove) universities (37% approve, 54% disapprove) the conflict between Israel and Hamas (35% approve, 52% disapprove) and the war between Russia and Ukraine (34% approve, 57% disapprove). The survey's findings caught the attention of CNN's Harry Enten on X. 'This is definitely one of Trump's worst polls,' Enten wrote. 'Just horrible across the board.' Enten also noted the poll found opposition to the 'One Big Beautiful Bill,' a piece of legislation containing Trump's immigration and tax policy. Only 27% of respondents support the bill, which includes the extension of the 2017 Trump tax cuts, $50 billion to renew construction of Trump's border wall and a committment of $150 billion in defense spending to be used for shipbuilding and a missile defense system Trump calls 'The Golden Dome.' A majority of respondents, 53%, don't support the One Big Beautiful Bill, according to the poll. In addition to respondents disapproving of Trump's job as president and the tax and immigration legislation, they also disapprove of the job that Democrats in Congress are doing. Just 21% of respondents approve of the job being done by Democrats in D.C., while 70% say they don't. Among respondents who identify as Democrats, 41% expressed approval of Democrats in Congress, while 53% expressed disapproval. In comparison, 32% of respondents said they approve of the job being done by Republicans in Congress compared to 61% who don't. Among Republican respondents, only 13% disapprove of the actions of Republicans in Congress compared to the 79% who expressed approval. The poll was conducted between June 5 to June 9 with a sample size of 1,265 self-identified registered voters. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8%.' Golden Dome: Revolutionary missile defense or money pit?

Imagine a future where North Korea launches a surprise missile barrage, China unleashes a wave of hypersonics, and Russia sends intercontinental ballistic missiles arcing over the North Pole. In this nightmare scenario, the only thing standing between those warheads and millions of lives is a massive new missile defense system called The Golden Dome. However, that assumes it doesn't end up being a total boondoggle. Initially announced as The Iron Dome for America, and then glitzed up as The Golden Dome, the project, estimated to cost up to $175 billion, was ordered by President Donald Trump, who said during a May 20 press briefing that 'it should be fully operational before the end of my term, so we'll have it done in about three years.' The Dome, whether Iron or Gold, would create an all-encompassing missile shield that can detect, track, and destroy virtually any incoming aerial threat, like drones and ballistic missiles, before it strikes U.S. territory. It has been described by Space Force Gen. Michael Guetlein as a project on the scale of the Manhattan Project, the top-secret World War II initiative that produced the atomic bomb. But where that project delivered a functional weapon in just a few years, The Golden Dome faces far more complicated technical, financial, and strategic hurdles. In this video, we break down what The Golden Dome is, and isn't, like how it's not a big shimmering bubble over America and is instead an integrated network of sensors, interceptors, and data systems backed up by AI-enhanced decision-making tools. And a number of systems already in operation today will form the backbone of The Golden Dome. The Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense system, whose origin can be traced back to the Strategic Defense Initiative, uses advanced SM-3 and SM-6 interceptors to target missiles in the midcourse and terminal phases. The Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system, operated by the U.S. Army, is capable of high-altitude terminal intercepts and has a proven track record in live-fire testing and a handful of real-world engagements. Meanwhile, Patriot batteries, upgraded with PAC-3 and PAC-3 MSE missiles, serve as the last line of defense, targeting incoming threats at lower altitudes and closer ranges. We also dive into the price tag, which was initially estimated at $175 billion, but will likely come in at around $500 billion to $900 billion over 20 years, according to the Congressional Budget Office. And then there's the question of whether it will actually work. This type of missile defense system has never been built before, and will require dozens of systems, some of which don't exist yet, and they all have to function together seamlessly, in real time, from anywhere on the planet, but also in space. So, yeah, we'll see. Trump says this ‘grandstander' Republican should be voted out of office

President Donald Trump wants to see voters oust Rep. Thomas Massie, R-KY. The 47th president made this wish clear to reporters on Tuesday during a trip to Capitol Hill to coalesce House Republican support for his tax and immigration bill known as the 'big beautiful bill.' During the visit, one reporter asked Trump whether he agreed with Massie, who on X suggested that the bill's passage would result in bigger deficits and 'Biden levels of spending.' 'No, I don't think Thomas Massie understands government. I think he's a grandstander frankly. We don't even talk to him much,' Trump said. 'I think he should be voted out of office. And I just don't think he understands government. If you ask him a couple of questions, he never gives you an answer. He just says, 'I'm a no.' He thinks he's going to get publicity.' The bill Trump wants to see passed features major components of the president's agenda, including the extension of the 2017 Trump tax cuts, $50 billion to renew construction of Trump's border wall and a committed $150 billion in defense spending to be used for shipbuilding and a missile defense system Trump calls 'The Golden Dome,' according to ABC News. The bill also tightens eligibility requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) with adults aged 55-64 and children facing additional work requirements to qualify for benefits, ABC News reports. In a Monday post on X, Massie claimed that Trump's 'big beautiful bill' would add $20 trillion of federal debt over 10 years. 'But there's another huge problem: it will increase the price of the $36 trillion of debt we already have, as bond buyers realize we aren't fiscally responsible.' Despite Trump's meeting with Republicans, in which he urged them to stick together and pass the bill, Massie is still a no, according to Politico. Republicans have a majority of 220 seats in the House of Representatives, with 213 Democrats. They can only afford three Republican 'no' votes, assuming all Democrats also vote against the bill. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said this week it was 'absolutely essential' for the Republicans to unite and pass the bill, saying, 'there is no time to waste.' Mass. Musk trashes Trump's ‘big beautiful bill': A ‘disgusting abomination'

For the past few months, President Donald Trump has been pushing Republicans to pass his tax and immigration mega-bill that he calls 'one big beautiful bill.' For Trump ally Elon Musk, however, this piece of legislation passed by the House of Representatives last month is anything but 'beautiful.' Musk, the CEO of Tesla who recently left the Trump administration, took to X on Tuesday to eviscerate the spending bill, calling it 'massive,' 'outrageous,' 'pork-filled,' and a 'disgusting abomination.' 'I'm sorry, but I just can't stand it anymore,' Musk wrote. 'Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.' Read more: Trump ally Elon Musk stepping back from political spending The bill that Trump wants to sign into law contains major components of his agenda, such as the extension of the 2017 Trump tax cuts, $50 billion to renew the construction of his border wall and a committed $150 billion in defense spending to be used for shipbuilding and a missile defense system he calls 'The Golden Dome,' according to ABC News. The bill was passed by the House 215-214 in May and will be reviewed by the Senate. In another post, Musk wrote that the bill would increase the country's budget deficit to $2.5 trillion and 'burden America citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt.' This isn't the first time Musk has criticized Trump's 'big beautiful bill.' During a May interview on CBS News, Musk said he was 'disappointed' by the bill and argued that it undermined the Department of Government Efficiency's (DOGE) goal of reducing the country's deficit. Musk was chosen by Trump to create and oversee DOGE at the beginning of his second term. 'I think a bill can be big or it can be beautiful,' Musk said, 'but I don't know if it can be both. My personal opinion.' Some Republican members of Congress posted in agreement with the billionaire on X, a social media platform Musk himself owns. 'The Senate can make this bill better,' wrote Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah. 'It must now do so.' Rep. Thomas Massie, R-KY, reposted Musk's post and wrote, 'He's right.' Massie was one of two Republicans who voted against passing Trump's mega-bill last month, the other being Rep. Warren Davis, R-OH. Massie had previously criticized the bill on X, arguing that its passage would result in bigger deficits and 'Biden levels of spending.' During a trip to Capitol Hill to rally House Republicans in support of the bill, Trump called Massie a grandstander and claimed he doesn't understand politics. 'I think he should be voted out of office,' Trump told reporters. 'And I just don't think he understands government. If you ask him a couple of questions, he never gives you an answer. Trump wants Senate to return ‘Big Beautiful Bill' to his desk before July 4

President Donald Trump stated in a post to Truth Social: 'Passing THE ONE, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL is a Historic Opportunity to turn our Country around after four disastrous years under Joe Biden. We will take a massive step to balancing our Budget by enacting the largest mandatory Spending Cut, EVER, and Americans will get to keep more of their money with the largest Tax Cut, EVER, and no longer taxing Tips, Overtime, or Social Security for Seniors – Something 80 Million Voters supported in November. It will unleash American Energy by expediting permitting for Energy, and refilling the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. It will make American Air Travel GREAT AGAIN by purchasing the final Air Traffic Control System. We will secure our skies from our adversaries by building The Golden Dome, and secure our Border by building more of our Wall, and supercharging the deportation of the millions of Criminal Illegals Joe Biden allowed to walk right into our Country. It will kick millions of Illegals off Medicaid, and make sure SNAP is focused on Americans ONLY! It will also restore Choice and Affordability for Car purchases by REPEALING Biden's EV Mandate, and all of the GREEN NEW SCAM Tax Credits and Spending. THE ONE, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL also protects our beautiful children by stopping funding for sick sex changes for minors. With the Senate coming back to Washington today, I call on all of my Republican friends in the Senate and House to work as fast as they can to get this Bill to MY DESK before the Fourth of JULY. Thank you for your attention to this matter!'
