Singer surprises with secret Glasgow TRNSMT show

After Travis delighted fans in The Hangout last year, it was Scottish songwriter Amy Macdonald's turn. Appearing on the tiny stage surrounded by hundreds of fans who were bursting out of the space, the Bishopbriggs-born star shyly declared: 'Good evening TRNSMT. It's so nice to see you all.' Refrencing the listing on the bill, she then added: 'I'm the elusive Mrs Rock n Roll in case you haven't wondered.' After performing Mr Rock & Roll, an eager fan at the front held up a sign saying she had seen the singer five times and could she have her guitar pick. Amy laughed before handing it to her, 'I don't know why people are so obsessed with these.' Performing Can You Hear Me? Amy admitted a Main Stage performance at TRNSMT a few years ago actually inspired the song. She said with a smile: 'The crowd was amazing and it inspired me to go write this.' Bizarrely, a life size cardboard cut out image of Lewis Capaldi was spotted backstage 'watching' the performance. Perhaps Capaldi is next in line for this somewhat new TRNSMT tradition? Finishing with This Is The Life, the 37-year-old dedicated the song to radio star Jim Gellatly whom she thanked for playing her demo when she was just 17.
