Techie duped of 28L by online fraudsters
1 2 3 Pune: A techie from Warje lodged a complaint with the police, stating that online fraudsters cheated him of Rs 28.20 lakh by promising handsome returns on his investment in online shares. The cheating occurred between March and May and an FIR was registered by the police on Saturday. According to the police, the techie was at home when his phone number was added to a group on a messaging application. The group members discussed high returns from trading shares online. All the group members thanked the group administrator for the tips provided online, which generated profit for them. Four get life for killing man over past enmity 5 years ago
Ludhiana: A fast track court here recently sentenced four persons to a life in prison for the murder of a man over past enmity. Additional sessions Sandeep Singh Bajwa also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each on the four convicts. They are Gobinda and Sagar — both from Jadla village in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district, and Baljeet Singh and Gurmail Singh, both from Balliyewal in Ludhiana. On July 29, 2020, the four were booked under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 149 (unlawful assembly) for killing Dara Singh. According to the prosecution, Dara's younger brother Bahadur Singh told police tyhat they had gone to Baliawal village along with their nephew, Pawandeep, to attend a bhog ceremony of a relative on that day. Two other relatives, Sagar and Gobinda, also came there with their two to three companions. As the family members were sitting on the rooftop of the house, an argument broke out between Gobinda, Sagar, and Dara. When he and his brother tried to calm things down, Gobinda, Sagar, along with Gurmail Singh and Baljit Singh, joined in and started beating up his brother. They pushed Dara off the rooftop. When Bahadur tried to help his brother, two to three men who had come with the accused started hitting him with sticks, causing injuries on various parts of his body. Due to the beating, Dara fell unconscious. Seeing his condition, the attackers fled the scene. Bahadur said he and his nephew, Pawandeep, quickly arranged a vehicle and took Dara to the civil hospital in Koom Kalan, where the doctor declared him dead. Bahadur said Dara died due to the beating and strangulation by the named accused. He said an old rivalry was the motive behind the attack A fight took place between the deceased and the accused four to five months earlier during a gambling session in Jadla village, he added. The accused were booked and and subsequently arrested. After completing investigation, police presented a charge-sheet against the accused in court. D uring the trial of the case, the accused pleaded false implication. The prosecution examined a total of 16 witnesses. The court observed that after carefully reviewing all the evidence and the overall circumstances of the case, it was clear that the accused — Sagar, Gobinda, Gurmail Singh, and Baljit Singh— acted together with a shared intention and played an active and deliberate role in the murder of Dara Singh. It held that the eyewitness accounts of Bahadur Singh and Pawandeep Singh (prosecution witnesses) clearly stated that the accused assaulted Dara Singh, threw him from the roof, and while Gobinda held his arms, Sagar strangled him. The court observed that their statements were direct, credible, and strongly supported by the medical evidence given by Dr Gurinder Kaur (prosecution witness) and Dr Osho Blaggan (prosecution witness), both of whom confirmed that the cause of death was asphyxia due to strangulation caused by a neck injury — matching the prosecution's version of events. The court held that further, the sequence of events, the nature of the injuries, and the lack of any reasonable explanation or defence from the accused strengthened the prosecution's case. "The accused have failed to present any convincing evidence of false implication or challenge the reliability of the prosecution's evidence. They have also not shown any history of enmity or conflict with the complainant or the police that could suggest a motive for false allegations," the court remarked. The court held that further, the sequence of events, the nature of the injuries, and the lack of any reasonable explanation or defence from the accused strengthened the prosecution's case. "The accused have failed to present any convincing evidence of false implication or challenge the reliability of the prosecution's evidence.
