Tennis champion Naomi Osaka invites audiences to tag along as she explores Tokyo in the debut episode of 'Off Day,' a new travel series on YouTube following athletes touring well-known cultural and culinary destinations on their days off. The series was developed and produced by UltraBoom Media — the company helmed by producers of 'Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown' and 'Down to Earth with Zac Efron' — together with LeBron James' Uninterrupted, Osaka's Hana Kuma, and in partnership with The Infatuation, Chase Travel and Chase Sapphire. Two things that transcend borders, languages, and cultures,' stated UltraBoom Media's Erik Osterholm, who founded the company alongside Michael Simkin, Carrie Kaylor and Omar Mullick last year. 'The show reflects the kind of storytelling we set out to create when launching UltraBoom Media, leaning into our diverse global production and creative experience,' Osterholm continued. JPMorgan Hikes Sapphire Reserve Fee to $795 in Card Overhaul
(Bloomberg) — JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) will hike the annual fee on its popular Sapphire Reserve credit card to $795 and launch a similarly priced version for businesses as part of an overhaul marking the biggest US bank's latest volley in the ultra-competitive world of premium credit cards. JPMorgan is also reshaping its rewards for the cards, according to a statement Tuesday, placing more emphasis on the bank's own travel and dining offerings that it assembled through a series of acquisitions and investments in recent years. Lenders have been locked in a fierce rewards battle to lure affluent customers for about a decade. American Express Co. (AXP) announced Monday that it is making its 'largest investment ever' in a refresh of its travel-focused Platinum cards for consumers and businesses. Capital One Financial Corp. (COF) has a premium travel card of its own, and Wells Fargo & Co. (WFC) has one in the works, Bloomberg News reported in February. JPMorgan is adding a slew of annual credits to the Sapphire Reserve card, including $500 toward its 'The Edit' collection of hotels and resorts and, for the consumer version, $300 toward exclusive tables on restaurant reservations app OpenTable. An existing $300 travel credit will continue as well. 'It's the culmination of five years of investment that we've made across Chase in completely uplifting and repositioning what we mean for premium travelers in the premium-card space,' Allison Beer, JPMorgan's head of card and connected commerce, said in an interview. 'This is about having the best-in-class travel assets and an end-to-end travel experience.' Cardholders will earn eight points per dollar spent on Chase Travel, changed from five points per dollar on flights and 10 points on hotels and car rentals. Customers will also get four points per dollar spent on flights and hotels booked directly, up from three points, and three points per dollar spent on dining. JPMorgan's latest overhaul incorporates a number of acquisitions it has made over the past half-decade and 'connecting all of those investments into a completely new service offering,' Beer said. That includes rewards business cxLoyalty, a deal announced in late 2020; restaurant review platform The Infatuation in 2021; and marketing platform Figg and luxury travel agency Frosch in 2022. The firm has also opened half a dozen airport lounges across the US that cardholders can access, with more planned. Marianne Lake, head of consumer and community banking, outlined JPMorgan's vision at the firm's investor day in 2022. 'Travel is at the center of our card business,' she said at the time, adding that the bank would become a full-service travel agency. At this year's investor day, held last month, Lake said JPMorgan more than doubled its travel volume from 2021 to 2024, and that the business remains 'a massive opportunity.' Half of Chase's new customers come through the card business, Lake said last month. The Sapphire refresh dovetails with another JPMorgan growth push: wealth management. Chief Executive Officer Jamie Dimon has long sought to expand that business, and in late 2019 created a new unit within the consumer and community bank intended to capture more market share. 'Customers eventually deepen with the rest of the ecosystem, so they start with the Sapphire Reserve card and then they open a self-directed account, or they open a Chase wealth-management account, and they continue to deepen,' Beer said. She joined JPMorgan in 2017 after more than seven years at American Express and rose quickly through the ranks of the consumer business, taking on her current role in 2021. Apple Maps just got a big upgrade for finding restaurants and hotels — what you need to know
Summer is coming and you probably have travel on your mind. So it's certainly a good thing that Apple Maps is getting some upgrades to help you figure out exactly what's worth checking out when you're in a new area. Assuming you like to sample higher-end dining experiences. As of today, Apple Maps is bringing in the help of various "expert sources" to add rankings and insights to various spots in the U.S. Currently that includes restaurants, hotels and gold courses, though it's likely Apple will be adding more in the near future. As for the expert sources themselves, they're quite a premium group. Users are being given the chance to search for restaurants rated by Michelin, including the Green Star and Bib Gourmand awards, plus Michelin Key hotels. Additional rankings from The Infatuation, Golf Digest and other sources will be added "soon." Looking at the list of those experts, it shows that Apple Maps is targeting a specific kind of person with these new insights. Michelin is not the kind of organization to review the sports bar down the street, after all. These are the crème de la crème. Users will also be able to book hotel stays directly in Apple Maps, but only at "select hotels." That feature also lets you reserve a table through Michelin, and will eventually let you book a tee time via Supreme Golf. Which gives you another indication of the kind of hotels we're talking about. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. This is probably just the beginning. While Michelin star restaurants may not be the kind of place you visit a lot, it could be the start of seeing more specialist information come to Apple Maps. Rather than just relying on reviews and ratings from the likes of OpenTable, TripAdvisor or Yelp. Aggregate sites like that may be useful for getting insights from everyday people, but sometimes you may want to see what the experts have to say. So adding that info to Apple Maps makes things a little bit more convenient. But it would be nice to get detailed insights in more everyday spots at some point. That's probably going to take some time. For now it makes sense for Apple to start with something rather niche, just to gauge how Apple Maps handles the new feature and how users react. So, if you're heading away this summer and want to spend some money on a nice restaurant or hotel, Apple Maps has you covered.

Apple Maps will now help you dine at the finest with a side of golfing

If you've ever felt like dining at only the crème de la crème of food establishments in your neighborhood, Apple Maps just built the right system for you. And to go with it, if you're in the mood for some calorie burnout through golf, the service got you covered on that front, too. Apple has inked a deal with MICHELIN Guide and The Infatuation that will let users find and get insights about Michelin-starred restaurants on the mapping and navigation platform. 'Users can now view and search for MICHELIN-starred, Green Star, and Bib Gourmand restaurants — along with MICHELIN Key hotels — starting in the U.S,' says the company. Recommended Videos Why does it matter? In case you aren't familiar, a Michelin star is a rating system that is awarded to restaurants and chefs for their culinary excellence. A similar system is in place for hotels that serve a top-tier hospitality experience. Most of these establishments are pretty expensive, but there are Michelin-starred food outlets that cater to the masses with affordable food, as well. Thanks to the partnership, when you look up a Michelin-rated outlet, the details page will show cards about its rankings, images, and recommendations about the food options sourced from professional gourmands and connoisseurs. After all, if you're splurging on a decadent experience, you might as well hear what an expert has to say, even before you get moving toward your destination. To get the best out of the new features, users can pick the appropriate filter in Apple Maps and find the spot that best suits their taste palette. And if they feel like digging deeper into what a Michelin-starred outlet is all about, they will find all the details in the attached curated guides. What else is on the platter? For a handful of establishments, users will even be able to make bookings directly from within Apple Maps and book a reservation for themselves. In the coming months, Apple Maps will also add tailored content sourced from The Infatuation and Golf Digest, followed by more expert-curated content. If you are looking up hotels on Apple Maps, you will now see a new search filter named 'Michelin Distinctions.' When you select any of the options appearing on the map view, you will see a summary alongside a brief highlight and, more importantly, the number of Michelin stars received by a restaurant. Just like food establishments, Apple Maps users will be able to book tee times directly, thanks to a partnership with Supreme Golf. The latest additions to Apple Maps are currently limited to the US region, and there is no word on their global rollout yet.
