Urgent recall for several children's items sold in Ireland due to safety fears

An urgent recall has been issued for a number of children items sold in Ireland due to serious safety concerns. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) announced on Wednesday that SN Commerce LLC is carrying out a recall on five products from TheKiddoSpace, an online retailer based in the UK, amid fears they could lead to chemical reactions, choking and strangulation. The five products being recalled are: TheKiddoSpace Montessori Story Book SN Commerce LLC is carrying out a recall of TheKiddoSpace Montessori Story Book TheKiddoSpace Montessori Story Book is being recalled as the product includes small components that can detach creating small parts. It is feared that the small part may be placed in the mouth causing a young child to choke. This product was sold online via TheKiddoSpace UK and there are approximately four affected products in the Republic of Ireland The product is a soft fabric book measuring approximately 17x20 cm, with multiple felt pages. The front cover features a rainbow, clouds, the word "BOOK" in blue felt letters, and the number "2" in red. It was sold in packaging labeled 'TheKiddoSpace Boys and Girls Sensory Storybook'. All delivered products are affected. TheKiddoSpace Reusable Magnetic Water Balloons SN Commerce LLC is carrying out a recall of TheKiddoSpace Reusable Magnetic Water Balloons A recall has been issued for TheKiddoSpace Reusable Magnetic Water Balloons as the risk reported to the CCPC is of injuries. If the high-powered magnets are swallowed by a child, the magnets can connect to one another in the abdomen causing intestinal blockage or perforation. There are approximately 4 affected products in the Republic of Ireland. This recall involves two versions of TheKiddoSpace Reusable Magnetic Water Balloons. Both versions include sets of soft, colourful, silicone water balloons that use small internal magnets which snap closed automatically when filled. The balloons are approximately the size of a tennis ball (around 7cm diameter) and are designed to be reused for outdoor or water play. The products were sold in assorted colours including blue, red, orange, green, yellow, and white. All delivered products are affected. TheKiddoSpace Peg Dolls in Cups SN Commerce LLC is carrying out a recall of TheKiddoSpace Peg Dolls in Cups TheKiddoSpace Peg Dolls in Cups is being recalled due to choking fears as the product contains small parts, which could get stuck in the throat of very young children. The Peg Dolls in Cups were sold by TheKiddoSpace on its website between November 3, 2023 to February 21, 2025 and there is approximately 1 affected product in the Republic of Ireland. TheKiddoSpace Sensory Swing for Kids SN Commerce LLC recalls TheKiddoSpace Sensory Swing for Kids A recall notice has been issued for TheKiddoSpace Sensory Swing for Kids after it was determined that the product poses a strangulation risk. The flexible fabric of the swing can form loops during use and a child's head or neck may become entangled, posing a strangulation hazard. If a child's head becomes trapped inside the swing, they may be unable to breathe, leading to suffocation. This product was sold online via TheKiddoSpace UK and there are approximately 135 affected products in the Republic of Ireland. TheKiddoSpace Finger Painting Kit for Kids SN Commerce LLC is carrying out a recall of TheKiddoSpace Finger Painting Kit for Kids This recall involves all versions of the KiddoSpace Finger Painting Kit for Kids, including the 12-colour, 25-colour, and 36-colour editions as the product presents a chemical risk. The paint contains substances that are toxic. This may pose a health risk if ingested while in use or when absorbed through the skin. This product was sold online via TheKiddoSpace UK and Amazon, and there are approximately 149 affected products in the Republic of Ireland. Customers who own any of the above products are advised to stop using them immediately and dispose of them safely.
