Chris Brown Returns To The U.K. To Enter His Plea For Alleged Nightclub Assault
Chris Brown takes a break from tour to fight for his innocence! The R&B singer arrived in the United Kingdom to put in his plea on the running charge of causing bodily harm to an alleged victim in a nightclub two years ago. Chris Brown was previously taken into Manchester police custody last month in connection with the nightclub attack. The 36-year-old, alongside his team of lawyers, decided to plead not guilty to allegedly assaulting music producer Abe Diaw with a tequila bottle at a London nightclub in 2023. The process took place at the Southwark Crown Court around 10 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025. Decked in a blue suit and black tie corporate fit, Brown reportedly said nothing more than to enter his "not guilty" plea, identify himself, and his date of birth. His co-defendant, Dallas rapper and producer Omololu Akinlolu, also went through the same process in court. PEOPLE confirmed that adjudication will be the next stage of the case and is set to begin on July 11. The main trial is also scheduled to commence on October 26, 2026. Brown was released on a $6.7 million bail on May 21, after his arrest in the United Kingdom. Brown's arrest occurred in the early hours of May 15 in Manchester at The Lowry Hotel in the heart of the city, just hours before his appearance in court. London's Metropolitan police confirmed the arrest and reported that Brown had been seized on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. They confirmed that he was in custody at the time of their statement, which read, "A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, May 15 on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has been taken into custody, where he remains." The police noted that investigations into the incident that happened at Hanover Square on February 19, 2023, were being supervised by detectives of the Central West Area Basic Command Unit. His arrest happened in the middle of his ongoing "Breezy Bowl" stadium tour, which celebrates his two-decades-long career in the music industry. Brown's arrest did not go unnoticed. News that he had been taken into police custody on foreign soil sparked reactions from his fans and friends. As seen on The Blast, Odell Beckham Jr. was among the first people to speak on the development. The NFL star hopped on Instagram to share a photo of his long-time friend, accompanied by a bold declaration. "Free Breeeezyyy. The moral compass will never lie ... we waiting on ya," the wide receiver wrote on the post. The violent confrontation happened at Tape nightclub around 3 a.m. when Brown reportedly launched at Diaw unprovoked. According to the producer's account of events, Brown broke a liquor bottle against his head and beat him when he was on the ground, leading him to sustain serious injuries. Diaw added in the suit that he was physically hit several times, and the intensity of the attack led to his knee collapsing. He was then transported to the hospital and had to use crutches afterwards to walk. That producer proceeded to file a civil case against Brown after the attack. He sought damages of $16 million as a result of physical and financial injuries suffered during the incident. The actor somehow finds himself engrossed in one lawsuit or the other. The Blast stated that in 2021, his former housekeeper served him with a lawsuit accusing him of treating her injuries from a dog attack in his home with negligence and insensitivity. Maria Avila explained in the lawsuit that the singer's large Caucasian dog attacked her while she was on duty in his home in 2020. The dog reportedly disfigured her face and arms, prompting her to go for immediate treatment. However, she claimed the rapper, even with full knowledge of her condition, failed to take proactive steps to protect her, either financially or in other ways. She claimed that he instead instructed his staff to hide evidence by getting rid of the dog. The dog, named Hades, was then ferried to Humboldt County, but he was rescued by the Humane Society, which later euthanized him. Avila demanded a settlement of $90 million in damages from the singer to get her back on track and ease losses suffered during the attack and treatment. He was released on £5million bail and is next due in court on Friday, but the rapper appeared in great spirits at last night's show despite his legal woes. During last night's manchester show he made a cheeky quip during his performance at the Co-Op Live Arena. Thank you all for having me and supporting me and thank you to the jail, y'all was really nice!" Taking to X fans shared videos from the gig , on wrote: "He was so wholesome tonight, proper cute. Hope he thinks of himself as an honourary Mancunian now (doubt it)." Chris Brown reportedly made the most of his brief time in a UK prison by singing for fellow inmates and expressing heartfelt thanks to one who looked out for him. Insiders say the singer was treated well by other prisoners. 'Sometimes people will be targeted if other inmates know they have money, but they looked after him instead,' a source told T he Sun. 'They know he's famous and also American so not really aware of how prisons work over here.' During evening lockdown, some prisoners reportedly called on him to perform. 'When it was lock up at night-time, some of them were shouting, 'Sing us a song Chris!'' the source said. The singer responded by belting out tunes in his cell, bringing a touch of star power to the prison's halls.

Chris Brown's pal remanded in custody after court hearing over nightclub attack
Chris Brown's musician pal Omololu Omari Akinlolu has been denied bail and remanded in custody after appearing in court today. The Metropolitan Police announced today that US national Akinlolu, 38, had been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent. Police said the charge relates to an assault, which reportedly took place at a venue in Hanover Square in London, on Sunday, 19 February 2023. Akinlolu appeared in the dock flanked by security guards at Manchester Magistrates' Court wearing a pink tracksuit. He spoke to confirm him name and address, which was given to the court as The Lowry Hotel in Salford, which is the address Chris Brown also gave during his hearing yesterday, MEN reports. During today's hearing, prosecutor Peter Conroy told the court the prosecution will allege Akinlolu 'repeatedly punched' victim Abe Diaw 'in the head'. He added that it is alleged an incident at the London nightclub started at a bar area and continued across the bar into a different room within the establishment. The prosecutor also told the court how police attempted to contact both Akinlolu and Brown on 'several occasions' in an attempt to invite them to voluntary interviews. He added that the interviews did not take place because Akinlolu and Brown did not respond. The court also heard how Akinlolu was arrested in Manchester on Friday night. Grace Forbes, who is representing Akinlolu, told the court: "He will be entering a not guilty plea." But a plea was not entered during the hearing today. The defence added to the court that if Akinlolu had been trying to avoid police in the UK, he wouldn't have come to the UK. Ms Forbes said: "That would be an extraordinary thing to do if he had any intention to avoid the police in this country." An application for bail was made for Akinlolu as Ms Forbes proposed a surety involving his mother's 'life-savings'. She added that Akinlolu would surrender his passport, reside in Manchester and not apply for any travel documents and proposed that he wouldn't enter any port or airport, and abide by a curfew. However, bail was refused and Akinlolu was remanded in custody. Chairman of the bench, Ronald Marshall, says: "On this occasion we are refusing bail and you will be kept in custody." The case is adjourned. Akinlolu will appear at Southwark Crown Court in London on June 20. Brown and fellow musician Akinlolu released music together in the past, as Hoody Baby featured on Brown's track No Such Thing, released in 2020. Meanwhile, Brown features on Hoody Baby's song Flexing, which also has features from Lil Wayne, Quavo and Gudda Gudda. On Thursday evening, Adele Kelly, the Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North, said: "We have authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Chris Brown, 36, with one count of grievous bodily harm, contrary to section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861. "The alleged incident occurred in London on February 19 2023. He will have his first court appearance on Friday May 16 at Manchester Magistrates' Court. "The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against this defendant are active and that he has the right to a fair trial. "It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings." Following the news Brown had been remanded in custody until June 13, dates for his upcoming tour have been thrown into chaos. His Breezy Bowl XX Tour is due to start in Amsterdam on June 8 - but Brown will be in custody ahead of his appearance at Southwark crown court in London on June 13.

Second man charged with assault over Chris Brown ‘bottle attack' at UK nightclub
A SECOND MAN has been charged in relation to a reported assault at a London nightclub involving R&B singer Chris Brown, police have said. The American musician, 36, appeared in the dock at Manchester Magistrates' Court on Friday charged with causing grievous bodily harm to Abraham Diaw in February 2023. He was arrested by police detectives shortly after 2am on Thursday at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester, having flown into the city by private jet on Wednesday afternoon. Advertisement Brown was detained on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm to music producer Abe Diaw at Tape nightclub in Mayfair, central London. He was formally charged on Thursday evening, and remains in police custody. During an appearnace in court on Thursday, police said that the complainant, Abraham Diaw, was stood at the bar of the Tape nightclub when he was struck several times with a bottle, and was then pursued to a separate area of the nightclub where he was punched and kicked repeatedly. In a statement this morning, UK police said that US national Omolulu Akinlolu will also appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court later, charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.
