Scottie Scheffler's U.S. Open odds reach heights not seen since Tiger Woods

The post Scottie Scheffler's U.S. Open odds reach heights not seen since Tiger Woods appeared first on ClutchPoints. The U.S. Open is less than 24 hours away, and one of the most prestigious events in all of sports will feature some of the best golfers in the world. Bryson DeChambeau is the player defending this weekend as he put on a spectacular display one year ago at Oakmont Country Club. The LIV golfer will compete with the world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler for a chance to repeat as champion. Advertisement The betting landscape is only growing, and bettors are always locked in for major events. With this weekend being the case, a lot of eyes will be watching this tournament. Scheffler has three wins this season already, earning his third-career major win by winning the PGA Championship at Oak Hill in May. Scheffler is two majors away from the career grand slam, and he could be just one away after this weekend. Scottie Scheffler's U.S. Open odds reach heights not seen since Tiger Woods Credit: Bill Streicher According to BetMGM, Scheffler is +275 to win the U.S. Open. That is the highest betting favorite to win the event since Tiger Woods back in 2009, when the best of all time was +175. Advertisement On FanDuel's betting odds, Scheffler is +280, followed by DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy to win at Oakmont. Scottie Scheffler (+280) Bryson DeChambeau (+700) Rory McIlroy (+1200) John Rahm (+1200) Xander Schaufelle (+2200) Ludvig Aberg (+2200) Collin Morikawa (+2500) There is no doubt that Scheffler will put himself in a position to be victorious yet again. The field is stacked, but Scheffler is playing at the top of his game right now. After winning the PGA Championship, Scheffler turned right around and won The Memorial at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. He ran away with the tournament just as he did at Oak Hill. Advertisement Being this big of a favorite to win and being compared to Tiger Woods is another accomplishment on the long list that Scheffler owns. This weekend could put him in a category only legends are in. Why Oakmont's par-3 8th hole is so controversial

Why Oakmont's par-3 8th hole is so controversial A par-3 hole in golf is supposed to be a challenge in terms of hitting a tee shot that may not be a driver that gets the ball on to the green. But in terms of length? It isn't usually around 300 yards as far as I can tell. But the U.S. Open is no typical test in golf. And Oakmont has a par-3 that is causing some controversy: it's No. 8, a par-3 that may play near 300 yards this week. Shouldn't it be a short par-4? Nope! It's three shots for par this weekend. Let's dive in with some questions you might have: What does No. 8 at Oakmont look like? Here you go: What have the pros said about the par-3 No. 8? Here's Viktor Hovland, who likes a more old fashioned par-3: Xander Schuffele seemed to brush it off: Jack Nicklaus had this to say at The Memorial, via When a reporter revealed that the 8th would actually play to 299 yards this year, Nicklaus shot back, 'Well that's crazy. But that's what they do. But it is downhill.' Is the par-3 controversial because it's so long? Seems that way. What's the longest par-3 in U.S. Open history? Back in 2016, Golfweek said it was this one!

PGA Tour money list: Scottie Scheffler vaults to the top with victory at The Memorial

Scottie Scheffler now holds golf's Triple Crown after a late start and a fourth-month climb up the PGA Tour's money and FedEx Cup points ladder. Scheffler's four-shot victory over Ben Griffin on June 1 in The Memorial, at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, finally gave him the lead over Rory McIlroy on the Tour's money list. The $4 million first-place check in the Tour's Signature event gave Scheffler more than $14.5 million in earnings, while McIlroy, who opted out of the tournament, stayed pat with $13.9 million and change. Scottie Scheffler celebrates his third victory in four starts with his son Bennett on June 1 at the Muirfield Village Golf Club. Scheffler won The Memorial by four shots over Ben Griffin.
