The Chase's Darragh Ennis challenges Harry Potter fans to ace 'impossible' quiz

Think you're a wizard at Harry Potter trivia? The Chase's very own Darragh Ennis, aka The Menace, has conjured up a quiz to put your fandom to the ultimate test. When he's not on ITV stumping contestants with his encyclopaedic knowledge, The Menace is dishing out challenges on TikTok for muggles and wizards alike. Recently, Dublin-native Darragh whipped up a batch of fiendishly difficult Harry Potter questions, claiming they'd be "impossible" to nail for all but the most devoted fans. Darragh's latest TikTok teaser throws down the gauntlet with five Potter-centric posers, each more bewitching than the last. He's thrown down the gauntlet, asserting that "most" won't crack all five, while allowing that hardcore "mega-fans" might just flaunt their magical prowess by smashing the challenge, reports the Mirror. The five questions Darragh posed are:. For the first question, Darragh said won't be accepting vague answers; he expects both the street name and house number for full marks He even slipped in a clue for the fourth question, reminding us that A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration pops up on Harry's first-year book list, something he would've snagged during his Diagon Alley spree with Hagrid. Think you've sussed out all five brain-teasers? Hold on if you're still mulling them over, because we're about to reveal the answers. Revealing the solutions in his latest video, Darragh shared: The Chase star highlighted that figuring out Emeric Switch as the correct response for the book author question was notably "tough" and tipped his hat to those who got it right. He further explained that Professor Snape's non-Hogwarts abode is on Spinners End, which he described as a particularly obscure detail. The reactions to the quiz were mixed among viewers, with some flexing their trivia muscles, claiming the challenge was "so easy", while others admitted defeat, finding themselves flummoxed by the trickier queries. One viewer boasted: "I got 4/5. Who remembers the authors of random textbooks?" Meanwhile, another proud Potterhead revealed: "Every time I reread the books, I make sure I know who wrote every one of Harry's set books, just in case they come up in trivia, and it finally did!".

Luke Humphries hits back at savage darts legend who ripped into World Cup flop

Cool Hand takes issue with harsh remarks of ex-hero Dennis Priestley Disappointed Luke Humphries has fired back at Dennis Priestley after the savage criticism launched out to him and Luke Littler by the darts legend. Cool Hand has responded to strong statements from the former World Darts Champion who hammered the England pair after their nightmare World Cup exit. ‌ Priestley didn't mince his words this week as he said they had let their country down and also stated Humphries and Littler were not yet deserving of the MBE honours which were handed to them on the even of the Frankfurt flop by The King. ‌ Littler was first to bite back with a post on social-media being noted only for a short time on Thursday before disappearing. However, Humphries has now used his X account to say: 'Disappointing to hear a top former pro who I admired say such a damaging thing to me and Luke. I didn't let my country down last year tho did I? One bad game for us and we will back next year to go again. Let's move on now.' Priestley roasted the pair after it emerged from rival Gerwyn Price that the duo had not sat together or practised as a pair in Germany. He said: 'Luke Littler and Luke Humphries let their country down at the World Cup of Darts, from what we've heard they weren't sitting together or practising together. 'When I was playing in pairs with Phil Taylor we practised together and sat together, we played all over the world and I only remember us getting beaten once. ‌ 'If you go on and win the tournament without practising then it doesn't matter, but when you go out without winning a game as the big favourites, it's not a good look. 'Having said that, I think they will learn from the experience and come back stronger. Don't be surprised to see them lifting the trophy next year.' Priestley also made it clear that he did not feel the the pair deserve such recognition from The King at this stage of heir careers. Humphries and Littler were both handed an honour from the Birthday List prior to their shocking loss to the hosts in Germany and The Menace added: 'To be brutally honest, I don't think either Luke Littler or Luke Humphries have done enough to earn their MBEs just yet. I think in time they could've done enough to warrant it but it feels very early, they have both won one World Championship each and are still young in their careers. 'Littler has been recognised for raising the popularity of darts which is great, but he can still do so much more. If he is getting an MBE this soon then you'd have to think he is on the right path to a knighthood, nothing would surprise me now.'

Darragh Ennis' life away from The Chase with childhood sweetheart and second job

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info The Chase star Darragh Ennis, who is best known for his role as The Menace had originally been a contestant on the show back in 2016 before ITV producers invited him back to become a Chaser instead. Despite being the newest member of Bradley Walsh's Chaser army, Darragh is by no means a fresh face on the show, having made his formal debut back in 2020. Since then, he's made numerous appearances on the popular quiz programme and its spin-off show Beat The Chasers alongside co-stars Paul Sinha, Anne Hegerty, Mark Labbett, Jenny Ryan and Shaun Wallace, with very few proving to ever be triumphant against him. While the Irishman tends to keep closed lid on private affairs away from the series, he has in the past let slip on the show about personal matters, including his past job, co-star connection and childhood sweetheart wife. Darrah's TV debut Back in 2016, the Irish star appeared on the ITV programme as a player sporting long curly locks. He quickly impressed host Bradley Walsh and Chaser Paul Sinha, who hailed him as "very, very good" after he'd achieved £9,000 in the cash builder round. His exceptional performance later saw him invited back for a screen test in which he bagged the role of the newest Chaser, The Menace. In a past interview, he attributed his cool on-camera style for his success. Speaking to the Liverpool Echo previously, he reflected: "I did well on the quiz, but a lot of people do. I don't get stage fright. I don't get rattled by cameras or anything and a lot of people do. That can subtract a bit from how well their personality comes across. "So, because I had that advantage, maybe they just saw something and thought 'this fella is very relaxed on camera', which is a big part of the job. It's not just about knowing stuff. It's about being calm enough in the moment to recall everything quickly so I think just a combination of those things." Family life (Image: ITV) The TV star previously revealed that he studied at Maynooth University and that this is how he and his wife were first acquainted. Giving a brief glimpse into how they met, he told RSVP Live: "We did our degrees and PhDs there [Maynooth University]. We were in labs down the hall from each other and she's from Kildare." Darragh insists on keeping his private affairs out the spotlight, on the matter of privacy after being trolled online himself, the father-of-two told The Irish Mirror: "I have been keeping my family out of the limelight so my wife doesn't get involved, she doesn't want to. "And my children, I don't share photos of my children or anything like that. No one knows what my children look like or their names or anything like that." His Instagram profile instead is awash with pictures of bird feeders and the bee hives that are native to his Oxford home. Second job (Image: ITV) Darrah opted to maintain in his profession as a neuroscientist and entomologist alongside his commitments on The Chase. Opening up on his career, during his TV debut as a contestant back in 2016, he told Bradley Walsh: "I work in brain development and how insect brains grow and develop." Stunned, Brad asked: "How insect brains grow and develop?" As Darragh quipped: "Well we can't use people's brains so..." On a more recent episode, Darragh even revealed to the host that he would be "back in the lab on Monday," confirming that he was still in the industry despite his fame. Darragh's link to Paul Sinha before TV fame As a contestant on The Chase, Darragh also spilled that he and Paul Sinha shared a common connection before they were co-stars on the ITV show. When asked by host Bradley who he'd like to come up against, the Irishman firmly stated: "I'd like to play Paul because apparently he used to play in the quiz league that I used to play in." "You play in a quiz league?" gasped Brad as Darragh confirmed: "Yes a pub quiz," as Paul stepped out from behind the famous red doors to go head-to-head. The Chase airs weekdays on ITV1 at 5pm.

The Chase's Darragh Ennis opens up on 'real' money as he hits back at ITV viewers

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Darragh Ennis shared his insights with The Chase contestants after a contentious choice was made. The team comprising Billy, Hannah, Jan and Andy joined forces, hoping to outwit one of Britain's finest quiz brains. Andy was the first contestant to take on The Chaser, Darragh "The Menace" Ennis, following a £5,000 win in the Cash Builder round. Deciding to stick with his earnings, Andy aimed to secure his place in the final chase. He did not disappoint, successfully contributing his £5,000 to the group's cash pot. Jan then stepped up, having earned £4,000 in a nerve-wracking quick-fire round. She breezed through her face-off with The Menace, securing her spot in the finale alongside Andy. Hannah also raked in £4,000 but chose the cautious route, accepting a lower offer of £1,000 from The Chaser. Despite some viewers feeling incensed by her choice, calling it "pathetic" and a "waste of time", reports the Liverpool Echo. (Image: ITV) However, on social media, Darragh called it a "sensible decision." Proving her doubters wrong, Hannah made it back to her team, boosting the collective prize fund to £10,000. Darragh imparted some sage advice for those critical of Hannah's strategic move, stating: "People who haven't been on the show don't understand the show. The money isn't real until you win it. You have shown that taking the lower offer is often the right decision." Billy, who was the last contestant left aiming for a spot in the final, stunned audiences by accepting The Menace's lower offer of £-2,000, against his teammates' advice to stick with the money he had earned. His commendable effort saw him return to his team members just in time for the final chase. Despite bringing the prize pot down to £8,000, host Bradley Walsh commented: "I think you've made the right decision getting yourself to the final." Darragh Ennis added: "You're absolutely right because a few of those were educated guesses. It could've easily turned the other way. So on this show this is exactly the right decision." In the crucial final chase, Billy, Hannah, Jan and Andy notched up 18 points, a score strong enough to outpace The Chaser, resulting in their take-home of £2,000 each. (Image: ITV) Post-victory, Darragh Ennis reflected on the team's performance: "Without the two players that went low, you might have a single digit up there, because Billy and Hannah each answered a huge number of questions. This is the reason why the low offer is sometimes the right one." He continued: "Billy and Hannah taking the low offer is the reason you won that game." Bradley added: "Tactically, you played the right game." The Chase continues today at 5pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

The Chase's Darragh Ennis tests fans with quiz question that only 5% of people answer right

The Chase star Darragh Ennis, better known as The Menace, has shared a seemingly simple quiz question on his social media which the majority of people can not answer correctly. The Chase star Darragh Ennis has presented fans with a question that only those among the top 5% of brains will be able to answer correctly. If you're a fan of quiz shows, there's a good chance you've tuned into ITV's The Chase, where hopeful contestants attempt to outrun the Chaser by answering a series of tough questions. These Chasers are professional geniuses, the very best of UK quiz gurus and they regularly prove their talent by beating teams on the programme. Darragh Ennis, better known as The Menace on the Bradley Walsh quiz show, not only stumps contestants on the telly but also delights followers with brain teasers and intriguing facts on his social media profiles. ‌ In one of his recent TikToks, the Chase star sent viewers into a frenzy, revealing that a staggering 95% can't crack his clever question. In his video, Darragh says: "Do you want to know a really easy sounding quiz question almost everybody will get wrong? Seriously, about 95% of people will get this wrong, and it sounds so simple." ‌ He then poses his simple task: "Name a berry." You may think this is straightforward and many believe it would basically be a freebie point at your local pub quiz. But hold your fire before blurting out the first answer that comes to mind because there is a twist, the Mirror reports. While most people typically blurt out strawberry or perhaps raspberry in response to this seemingly simple question, Darragh has pointed out that these aren't actually berries. ‌ So if you guessed either, you've just joined the majority of people who messed up the answer. The Chaser clarified: "If you said strawberry, blackberry, or raspberry, you're wrong. They are not technically berries. ‌ "Berries are a very specific type of fruit. They have to come from a single ovary of a single flower, and have no stones for seeds. So if you said peach, plum, or cherry, they're not berries either. "But what are berries, and this is the bit that is absolutely bonkers, are things like bananas, aubergines, and watermelons." Some fruits, such as cranberries and blueberries, are right to call themselves berries. ‌ In an unexpected twist, avocados also make the cut as berries despite their seemingly stony centre due to their thin, fleshy layer around the seed. Darragh couldn't help but throw in a pun towards the end of the clip about comedian Matt Berry. He told his followers: "If you said Matt Berry, then you're the most devious quizzer in New York City. You can take two extra bonus points." ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. Viewers had a mixed reaction to the clip, while some were caught off guard, others boasted that it was "common knowledge" to know which fruits are actually real berries. One confident viewer replied: "Banana! Because it's got seeds inside. Strawberries are drupes because their seeds are outside. "Peaches are stone fruit, not berries. You'd have to get up pretty early in the morning to stump me with that one, Darragh!" A fellow commenter added: "No such thing as a universally easy question. It's easy if you know it, and it's not if you don't."
