National Tequila Day brings specials to the Phoenix area
It's National Tequila Day, so raise a glass and say, "¡Salud!"
State of play: Whether you're craving a margarita, looking for a more adventurous cocktail or seeking a straight pour of the agave spirit, there are plenty of bars and restaurants around the Valley with specials on Thursday.
The Montauk: This Old Town Scottsdale restaurant is offering a roster of tequila cocktails for $12.
Born & Bred Chandler: Enjoy $5 margaritas all day.
The Mexicano: At their north Phoenix location from 6-8pm, try complimentary tastings, and at their Phoenix and Chandler spots, for $16 enjoy their featured cocktail, the Margarita Rosado, made with Maestro Dobel Diamante tequila, orange liqueur, guava purée, strawberry syrup and lime juice.
Aftermath Bar & Kitchen: From 4-6pm, go for a free tasting and try a Southwest Sour — El Tesoro Reposado tequila, passion fruit, agave, lime juice and egg whites — for $15 at this central Phoenix spot.
El Camino: Enjoy $6 pours of Jose Cuervo Tradicional all day in Old Town.
Barcoa Agaveria: We don't know if they have any National Tequila Day specials, but this downtown Phoenix watering hole is an Axios Phoenix favorite, and happy hour runs from 4-7pm today.
Jeremy's thought bubble: I'm primarily a whiskey man myself, but I do enjoy a pour of good tequila now and again.
I'll be celebrating National Tequila Day at home with a glass of Corcel Extra Añejo or Herradura Legend, both of which are well-suited to a bourbon drinker's palate.
And I'd highly recommend Fortaleza Añejo. Finding a bottle for a reasonable price can be difficult, but bars or restaurants with a good tequila selection often include it on the menu.
