Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. odds, predictions: Best bets for Saturday's huge fight
Gambling content 21+. The New York Post may receive an affiliate commission if you sign up through our links. Read our editorial standards for more information. Jake Paul is fighting another past-his-prime boxer Saturday night as he attempts to compete with UFC 317. Paul matches up with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., 39, and he will walk in as a -550 favorite. Chavez, 54-6-1, is certainly on the downside of his career, having previously lost to former MMA fighter Anderson Silva in a boxing match. Paul, of course, beat Silva in 2022, just over a year after Silva beat Chavez. The math, literally and figuratively, favors Paul, who could just walk through his opponent Saturday. Jake Paul is a big favorite Saturday. Lumeimages / Jake Paul vs. Cesar Chavez Jr. prediction Of potential note, Paul opened as a -1100 favorite in this bout and money has since flown in on the underdog with Paul being bet down to -550 odds. Paul opened at -310 odds against Mike Tyson and closed at -175, while betting opened at -250 before closing at -400 odds against Mike Perry. This is to say: It's not fair to say that people are betting against Paul because they don't like him; this line movement is big enough that you could argue bigger, and potentially smarter, bets are on Chavez. Looking at the math of Chavez losing to Silva and Silva getting smashed by Paul is not a fair comparison either. Get the lowdown on the Best USA Sports Betting Sites and Apps Chavez Jr. may have just had a rough night at the office that night as a -700 favorite. There's some value here on Chavez Jr., but no one would deny that he has a minimal chance at victory. Get the lowdown on the Best USA Sports Betting Sites and Apps I'll take a lottery ticket shot on him to win by decision, with the thought he's in good enough shape he can avoid being hit by Paul for a bit. Small bets only, back the veteran to win by decision, and use your boost token on FanDuel on him to win by decision. PICK: Julio Caesar Chavez Jr. by decision +900 (boosted to +1360 with token on FanDuel) Why Trust New York Post Betting Erich Richter is a brazilian jiu-jitsu blue belt but he has a black belt in MMA betting. During the football season he's showcased massive profits at The Post in the player prop market the last two seasons. Satellite images show Iran expanding Fardo nuclear facility after US bombed the site last week
New satellite images showed Iranian construction crews and heavy machinery at the Fordo nuclear facility five days after the US carried out massive strikes at Tehran's three nuclear sites. According to a report by The New York Post, images captured by Maxar Technologies on Friday showed crews operated excavators, bulldozers, and other construction vehicles near the craters and punctures in the ground above the nuclear facility caused by the GBU-57 bunker buster bombs dropped by American B-2s last weekend. The report also said that some satellite images showed apparent construction crews building access roads to the facility and rebuilding the damaged dirt road that led to the bunker laboratory that was targeted by the US as part of Israel's conflict with Iran. Similar construction activity was seen on the surface of the Fardo nuclear site in images from before the US attack. 'Those vehicles appeared to be moving unidentified contents out of the facility to a location roughly half-a-mile away,' the report added. The United Nation's nuclear watchdog, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has said that Fordo's centrifuges are currently 'no longer operational' and the facility has 'suffered enormous damage'. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said 'there is very, very, very considerable damage', the report added. The extent of the destruction — and the amount of time the Iranian regime's program has been set back — have yet to be officially determined. The Trump administration on Thursday insisted the operation had been a total success, berating journalists for having reported on an intelligence assessment that took a more conservative line. President Donald Trump "created the conditions to end the war, decimating – choose your word – obliterating, destroying Iran's nuclear capabilities", Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told journalists at the Pentagon. Earlier this week however, US media reported on a leaked preliminary US intelligence assessment that said the strikes had only set back Iran's nuclear programme by months – coverage sharply criticised by Hegseth and others. The Israeli military has said it had delivered a "significant hit" to Iran's nuclear programme. While it said its attacks had delayed the programme "by several years" it also said it was "still early to assess the results of the operation". Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday hailed a "historic victory" in the 12-day conflict and vowed to thwart "any attempt" by Iran to rebuild its nuclear programme, according to an AFP report. Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has hailed what he described as Iran's "victory" over Israel. "The American president exaggerated events in unusual ways," Khamenei said, insisting the strikes had done "nothing significant" to Iran's nuclear infrastructure, the report added. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi however called the damage "serious" and said a detailed assessment was under way. Doubts remain about whether Iran quietly removed more than 400 kilogrammes (880 pounds) of uranium enriched to 60 per cent from its most sensitive sites before the strikes – to hide it elsewhere in the country. The stockpile could in theory produce more than nine atomic bombs – if the enrichment level were raised to 90 per cent. A Khamenei adviser, Ali Shamkhani, has said that the country still had its stockpile. "Even if nuclear sites are destroyed, game isn't over, enriched materials, indigenous knowledge, political will remain," he said in a post on X. (With inputs from agencies)

UFC 317 predictions: Full fight card picks for prelims and main card
Gambling content 21+. The New York Post may receive an affiliate commission if you sign up through our links. Read our editorial standards for more information. International fight week at UFC 317 should bring the fireworks to Las Vegas. The 12-fight card features two title fights, and just four of the 12 fights are projected to end inside the distance. An insane expectation of violence on Saturday night begins at 6:30 p.m. Eastern with the entire prelim card being broadcast on ESPN before switching over to pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET. We had a solid run last week, following some lackluster performances from a betting perspective over the past few weeks. The 6-5 record would point to an average day, but nailing a +290 wager on top of two other plus-money wins helped us profit 1.72 units and a 15.64 percent ROI. UFC 317 predictions Ilia Topuria vs. Charles Oliveira Charles Oliveira has always been heavy on the forward pressure; it's a major piece of his game. But he'll need to be extremely careful coming in against a boxer like Ilita Topuria. Topuria is one of the best knockout artists in featherweight history and now moves up to 155 lbs to compete for the lightweight title. Olivieira, 36, has fought 34 times in the UFC and has taken tons of damage. We've seen previously that he hates getting hit, going back years to when he tapped out due to strikes from Paul Felder in 2017. By all accounts, Topuria hits harder than anyone Oliveira has ever fought. Typically, as you get older, you don't want to get hit harder than you have ever been hit before. Topuria is an excellent grappler himself, and I suspect that he isn't as big of a liability on the ground as many would think. He did win the title in 2021 and defended against strikers and won by submission multiple times, but Saturday's not his night. Topuria is the biggest star in the UFC, and I suspect he wins by knockout. PICK: Topuria by KO/TKO (-150, BetRivers) UFC fighter Charles Oliveira in action at UFC 309. AP Alexandre Pantoja vs. Kai Kara-France If you were to judge this fight purely based on MMA math, you could argue that Kai Kara-France has an excellent chance to snag a win here as an underdog, considering he defeated Askar Askarov while Alexandre Pantoja has a loss against him. ' My issue with backing Kara-France as a +220 underdog is that he has four losses in his last nine fights. Plain and simple, he fights on too thin of margins to get consistent wins, and has had some funky decisions in the past. Those losses were against some of the best fighters in the division, but his loss to Brandon Royval by submission is concerning on multiple levels. Pantoja is an excellent wrestler for his size, and his striking isn't bad either, but if he can't get takedowns, he'll have problems. Flyweight is a high variance division, and these two have fought before on The Ultimate Fighter, with Pantoja winning by decision. I suspect that Pantoja gets the job done on Saturday, but the line has no value at the price and especially the division they fight in. Back this one to go the distance with a long shot bet on Kara-France by decision at +500, considering that's his most likely win condition, even though I don't love the fighter personally. PICK: Fight goes the distance (+104, Fanatics Sportsbook) | Kara France by decision (+500, FanDuel) Joshua Van celebrates a win at UFC 316. AP UFC 317 full card picks Ilia Topuria vs. Charles Oliveira: Topuria by KO/TKO -150, BetRivers) Alexandre Pantoja vs. Kai Kara-France: Fight goes the distance (+104, Fanatics Sportsbook) | Kara France by decision (+500, FanDuel) Brandon Royval vs. Joshua Van: Royval by submission (+900, Bet365) Beneil Dariush vs. Renato Moicano: Dariush ML (+136, DraftKings) Payton Talbott vs. Felipe Lima: Lima inside the distance (+400, Fanduel) Jack Hermansson vs. Gregory Rodrigues: Fight goes to decision (-112, FanDuel) Hyder Amil vs. Jose Delgado: Over 1.5 rounds (-159, BetRivers) | Fight goes the distance (+160, Fanatics Sportsbook) Viviane Araujo vs. Tracy Cortez: Pass Terrance McKinney vs. Viacheslav Borshchev: Fight starts round 2 (+104, FanDuel) | Fight goes the distance (+500, DraftKings) Niko Price vs. Jacobe Smith: Small bet (no more than .2 units) on Price ML (+1200, FanDuel) Jhonata Diniz vs. Alvin Hines: Fight goes to decision (+300, Bet365) Chris Ewert vs. Jackson McVey: Pass Why Trust New York Post Betting Erich Richter is a brazilian jiu-jitsu blue belt but he has a black belt in MMA betting. Track and manage your portfolio easily in-app. LEARN MORE Identifying promising altcoins starts with looking beyond hype and understanding real-world use. 'The best formula always will be finding the confluence of teams with a proven history of execution building in a vertical that has strong growth tailwinds,' Douglas Colkitt, contributor to Initial Fogo, a high-performance blockchain, told The Post. Ethereum is a decentralized blockchain platform that enables smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps), serving as the foundation for much of the Web3 ecosystem. Alvaro – That emphasis on proven execution is echoed by others in the space — with a growing focus on real-world application and long-term utility. 'When it comes to investing in Altcoins, I'm always going to be thinking about real usability,' said Mike Cahill, CEO of Douro Labs and a core contributor to the Pyth Network. 'The ones that stand out have true use cases, growing user adoption, sustainable tokenomics, and are powering new financial infrastructure.' Mike Marshall, head of research at analytics firm Amberdata, echoed that view, telling The Post: 'Try to look beyond hype to spot altcoins with a clear utility, credible teams and a healthy balance of community support and institutional interest — real substance beats speculation every time.' Musa Hakim Jr., CEO and co-founder of added that network infrastructure matters more than noise. 'For everyone else, the best way to identify valuable altcoins is developer community and organization or network infrastructure strength,' Hakim told The Post. 'Those two things drive utility which define value. Buy coins that you want to buy, not your friends.' Not every expert is ready to offer a list of 10 altcoins, but many shared their highest-conviction picks. Hakim added that his top picks were Solana, Ethereum, XRP, Dogecoin and USD Coin — with the last two interchangeable depending on market sentiment. Rounding out Hakim's list are Cardano, Tether, Binance Coin, Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap. 'These 10 all have strong organizational credibility and heavy developer support,' said Hakim. Solana is a high-performance blockchain designed for fast, low-cost transactions and scalable decentralized applications, often used in DeFi, NFTs and gaming. – Marshall, who prioritizes foundational blockchain infrastructure, highlighted ten altcoins he believes are well-positioned both technically and commercially. His picks include Ethereum, noted for its 'ecosystem dominance'; Solana, praised for its 'speed and adoption'; Arbitrum, a leader in 'Layer 2 scaling'; Optimism, which experiencing 'fast ecosystem growth'; Chainlink, known for its 'oracle infrastructure'; Uniswap, a 'DeFi cornerstone'; Aave, trusted for 'lending'; MakerDAO, advancing 'real-world asset adoption'; Ondo Finance, a 'RWA yield pioneer'; and gaining traction for its 'AI integration momentum.' Cahill favored projects with clear usage and ecosystem momentum. The list he provided to The Post includes: 'Hype, Pyth, Kamino, Drift, Raydium, Jito, Pendle, Helium, Jupiter, and Pumpfun (when it launches).' Colkitt preferred to keep his list lean. He told The Post that he prefers Hype 'just because it's a runaway category winner and expanding into a full fledged ecosystem.' Colkitt said his second choice was Berachain, especially at its current price. His third-best option is Jito, which is 'basically essential to Solana continuing to function and not much of the market has realized it yet.' What makes an altcoin worth buying now? Many experts say real usage is more important than speculative buzz. 'Altcoins with proven usage are the best value in my mind,' Cahill noted. Hakim recommended watching changes in who is leading major projects and which cryptocurrencies are gaining attention. He told The Post that some of his top picks for the next rally include XRP and Solana — noting that some investors now see Solana as a smarter bet than Ethereum, especially since former Blockchain Association head Kristin Smith recently took over at the Solana Foundation. USD Coin (USDC) is a stablecoin — a type of cryptocurrency that is pegged 1:1 to the U.S. dollar — and is backed by fully reserved assets, making it a popular choice for sending, storing or trading digital dollars on the blockchain. Rafael Henrique – He also pointed to Dogecoin as a meme-driven coin worth watching, saying, 'There's something there, very good or very bad.' Colkitt emphasized risk management. He told The Post that since Bitcoin 'won't 10X overnight,' the best course of action would be to adopt 'a barbell strategy' of Bitcoin and altcoins 'further out on the risk curve.' For serious investors, research is key. 'It's still hard to beat DefiLlama and Dune dashboards for data driven exploration,' said Colkitt. 'And of course, stay active on Crypto Twitter. Coins will get talked about there before they blow up.' 'You can find new altcoins by following new projects and tracking their testnet launches,' added Cahill. 'Most of these launches can be found on crypto-native news sites like The Block, Coindesk, and Cointelegraph.' Hakim said that it would be best to compare top tens on exchanges as well as 'observing the community on the social platforms you frequent. 'Don't buy a coin who's founder you can't quote,' Hakim advised. Spotting the next big thing requires watching early traction and developer momentum. 'Finding promising altcoins early requires staying at the forefront of reliable data and analytics,' said Marshall. Uniswap is a decentralized exchange (DEX) built on the Ethereum blockchain that allows users to trade cryptocurrencies directly with one another using automated liquidity pools instead of traditional order books. vladim_ka – 'I personally use Amberdata to track on-chain metrics, liquidity trends, and unusual transaction activity.' Cahill stressed the value of developer signals and ecosystem growth. 'It's important to watch for early community traction and smart developer activity over time to try and gauge the success of the project,' Cahill told The Post. Hakim said Layer 2s (L2s), which help blockchains grow by handling more transactions quickly and cheaply, and regulatory clarity are key indicators. 'Follow the money,' said Hakim. He cited Polygon, a blockchain scaling solution designed to make transactions on Ethereum faster and cheaper, as an L2 that people should keep an eye on. 'The American coins are probably the best to start digging,' he added. 'Recent SEC guidance makes all of these projects that are compliant hot commodities globally.' Bitcoin and Ethereum still dominate market cap — but that doesn't mean altcoins can't outperform. 'Bitcoin is still a great benchmark, especially for new investors,' said Cahill. 'But I believe that the next wave of meaningful growth will come from altcoins that power financial infrastructure and help drive institutional capital.' 'BTC and ETH still anchor the market and deserve core holdings,' added Marshall, 'but select altcoins offer compelling upside, especially in sectors like tokenized real-world assets, AI, and L2 scaling.' Dogecoin, a cryptocurrency originally created as a joke based on an internet meme, has gained widespread popularity for its low fees, fast transactions and active online community. charnsitr – 'Altcoins have much higher upside,' said Colkitt. 'BTC won't 10X overnight.' As momentum builds toward the next bull market, experts agree that finding the right altcoins involves a blend of research, real-world usage and community strength. With platforms like Best Wallet making access easier, and data tools from DefiLlama to Amberdata offering deeper insights, investors now have more tools than ever to make informed decisions — and avoid chasing hype.
