Henry Golding Says Playing James Bond Is 'Every Actor's Kind of Nightmare,' but Admits 'Maybe I'm Just a P----' (Exclusive)
Henry Golding shared his candid thoughts on taking over the role of James Bond in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE "I think that's every actor's kind of nightmare," the actor said of portraying the iconic spy character in the series' next film Bond was last played by Daniel Craig, while others who have taken on the role include Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce BrosnanHenry Golding has thoughts on stepping into 007's shoes. "I think that's every actor's kind of nightmare," the actor, 38, told PEOPLE exclusively, referring to taking over the iconic role of James Bond, while he attended The Old Guard 2's red carpet premiere in Los Angeles on June 25. "But at the same time, [you're] also wanting to kind of add something new to a franchise," he continued. "Why can't they bring out more agents or more OO's? I think that would be so much more fun, because there just isn't the restraints and the expectation." Still, Golding admitted, "Maybe I'm just a p----. I don't know. But I think I would love it so much more if there wasn't that overhanging cultural pressure." Bond is based on British author Ian Fleming's character, who first appeared in the 1953 novel Casino Royale. The role was originated onscreen by Sean Connery in 1962's Terence Young-helmed Dr. No. Others who have played the famed spy include David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan. He also played the part in Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015). Craig, 57, told the Los Angeles Times in November 2022 that after five installments, he "need[ed] to move on" from the famed franchise. It was announced earlier this week that Denis Villeneuve will direct the next Bond movie, which will mark the 26th film in the 60-year-old franchise. The project will be the first since Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson agreed to a new joint venture with Amazon MGM in February. (Amazon MGM now has creative control of the franchise, while Broccoli and Wilson remain co-owners of the series.) Amy Pascal and David Heyman will produce the new film. Amazon MGM has yet to announce a writer, and casting for the new Bond has not been announced. New on Netflix in July 2025 — every movie and show coming this month
Netflix has announced everything coming to the streaming service in July 2025, and there are some heavy hitters. It wasn't too hard to find five must-watch shows and movies that you need to add to your watchlist. First up is "The Old Guard 2." This superhero movie is the sequel to 2020's "The Old Guard," which we ranked number 78 on our list of the top 100 superhero movies. Starring Charlize Theron and Uma Thurman, it's undoubtedly the top title this month. Then there's "The Sandman" season 2, which is arriving in three waves this month for a bittersweet series finale. If you watched the first season of the DC Comics adaptation in 2022, you'll know that this show isn't one to miss. Aside from these top picks, I've got the full slate of everything new to Netflix this month listed below. Plus, we have a roundup of what's leaving Netflix in July 2025, so you have one last chance to watch. Here's everything coming to — and leaving — Netflix this month. "The Old Guard 2" has Charlize Theron reprising as Andromache of Scythia (known to her friends as Andy). She's the leader of a group of immortal soldiers who are mercenaries for hire. But immortality gives you a lot of time to make enemies, and Andy has made a powerful one in Quyhn (Ngô Thanh Vân) — a fellow immortal whom Andy left to drown for eternity 500 years early. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Quyhn has finally escaped her watery prison, though, and she's looking for payback. She's not the only one targeting Andy and her soldiers, either. Discord (Uma Thurman) is hunting her down and she's the first of the immortals, so there's no tougher foe out there. Stream on Netflix starting July 2 "The Sandman" was a favorite of a few of us here at Tom's Guide (myself included) when it came out in 2022. So when it was renewed relatively quickly later that year, I was excited for more. Since that announcement, though, Netflix has also decided to cancel the show, making season 2 its final season. This was in no small part due to the allegations of sexual assault against Neil Gaiman, who created "The Sandman" and was an executive producer on the Netflix series. Despite this bittersweet ending, it does look like Netflix spared no expense for Lord Morpheus's (Tom Sturridge) last hurrah, and the trailer brings back some familiar faces. I'm personally most excited for the return of The Corinthian (Boyd Holbrook), who was the main villain of season 1. Volume 1 drops six episodes on July 3, with Volume 2 dropping the final five episodes of season 2's main storyline on July 24. A series finale special episode will arrive on July 31, bringing the show to a close. Stream Volume 1 on Netflix starting July 3 "Too Much" stars Megan Stalter as Jessica, who leaves New York for London after a bad breakup. There, she meets Felix (Will Sharpe), an indie musician who is not the Hugh Grant type she was hoping to meet, but he might just be the right person for her right now. This show was one of my most anticipated Netflix shows of 2025 when the year started, and it still is. Stalter has been great in "Hacks," I've loved Sharpe in "The White Lotus" season 2 and "A Real Pain and while show creator Lena Dunham isn't always everyone's favorite, there's no denying that she's created brilliant TV before. Stream on Netflix starting July 10 "Happy Gilmore" is likely on Adam Sandler's Mount Rushmore of greatest performances. The ice hockey player turned professional golfer was iconic in the 90s and it still is today. At least, that seems to be what Netflix is counting on, as "Happy Gilmore 2" looks like more of the same as the first movie based on the official trailer. This sequel is set 30 years after winning the Tour Championship in the first movie, and has a retired Happy needing to return to golf to pay for his daughter Vienna's (Sunny Sandler) ballet school. But a familiar face in Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald) is standing in Happy's way, and is on a quest to take back his title. Stream on Netflix starting July 25 "Untamed" is a new Netflix miniseries created by Mark L. Smith, who most recently was part of the team behind "American Primeval," a miniseries from Peter Berg that debuted on Netflix earlier this year. So it's safe to say that the creative team behind this new thriller set in Yellowstone National Park has some familiarity with the expanse of the wild American West. In this murder mystery, a woman's death in the national park has federal agent Kyle Turner (Eric Bana) looking for answers. To find them, he will need to go into the depths of the park, where the only laws that rule are the laws of nature. Stream on Netflix starting July 17 JULY 1 "Attack on London: Hunting The 7/7 Bombers" (GB) (Netflix documentary) Insider accounts and never-seen-before footage tell the story of the 7/7 bombings on London's transport network in 2005 — and its explosive aftermath. "Trainwreck: The Cult of American Apparel" (GB) (Netflix documentary) Featuring tell-all interviews with insiders and former staff, this exposé traces American Apparel's journey from fashion phenomenon to financial flop. JULY 2 "The Old Guard 2" (Netflix film) Andy and her team of immortal warriors fight with renewed purpose as they face a powerful new foe threatening their mission to protect humanity. "Tour de France: Unchained" season 3 (GB) (Netflix documentary) In a thrilling 2024 Tour de France, larger teams dominate while smaller ones struggle to survive — and recent injuries cast a long shadow for some. Charlize Theron turns heads in sheer fishnet catsuit ahead of milestone 50th birthday
Charlize Theron dared to bare as she walked the red carpet ahead of her 50th birthday. The 49-year-old actress wore a black Givenchy sheer fishnet full-body catsuit over a black bra and high-waisted briefs while posing for photos at the premiere of her movie, "The Old Guard 2," at the Netflix Tudum Theater Thursday. Theron's catsuit was emblazoned with the luxury fashion house's original marque, Givenchy Paris 1952, in white lettering across the chest. The Academy Award winner completed her racy look with a black tuxedo jacket and square-toed black leather boots. Theron's hair was swept back into an updo, and she accessorized with a pair of diamond Christian Dior earrings. While on the red carpet, Theron reunited with her "The Old Guard 2" co-stars Uma Thurman, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Marwan Kenzari, KiKi Layne and Henry Golding. "The Old Guard 2" is a sequel to the 2020 Netflix superhero movie "The Old Guard," which was directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood and based on the popular comic book series by Greg Rucka. Theron starred as the centuries-old immortal warrior Andromache "Andy" of Scythia in the original film, and she reprised her role in the sequel. Ejiofor, Kenzari and Layne returned for the second movie with Thurman and Golding joining the cast. According to a plot synopsis, "The Old Guard 2" follows Theron's character Andy as she "leads immortal warriors against a powerful enemy threatening their group. "They grapple with the resurfacing of a long-lost immortal, complicating their mission to safeguard humanity." During an interview with People magazine on the red carpet, Theron told the outlet teaming up with Thurman for the sequel "was everything that we hoped for." "It's what we got excited about in the preproduction," Theron said. "We're so grateful that she said yes. And I look at the movie now, and I still pinch myself. I still can't believe she said yes." While speaking with the outlet, Theron also reflected on her upcoming 50th birthday, which she will celebrate Aug. 7. "I feel like time has actually really started to slow down the older I get," she said. "In my 20s, it was going so fast, and I was in such a rush, and now I feel like ... I'm not." The "Fast X" star, who is a mother to daughters Jackson, 12, and August, 9, explained that there are times when she is "still in a rush" with being "a mom and [having] to chase after so many things." However, she told People, "I feel like I'm not worried so much about time running out. "From my 40s on to now, I've just felt like I have a better understanding of balance," Theron added. "I am still struggling with it, but I don't fight it as much anymore. I can enjoy life a little more."

Stepping out at the Los Angeles premiere of The Old Guard 2, the actress sported a full-body fishnet look over a simple black bra and matching black undies. The ensemble was stamped with the Givenchy logo and finished off with a simple black blazer and black boots. Theron stars in The Old Guard 2 alongside Kiki Layne, Uma Thurman, and Veronica Ngô. The thriller is a sequel to the 2020 movie of the same name, and centers on a group of mercenaries with special healing abilities that render them essentially (though not completely) immortal. The group is tasked with "protecting the world," according to Netflix. At the premiere, the actress revealed that she was particularly excited about Thurman joining the cast of the sequel; in particular, she called a scene in which the two actors dual it out "everything that we hoped for."
