Cut Copy Announce New Album ‘Moments', Share ‘When This Is Over'

Cut Copy have announced a new album, entitled Moments. It marks their seventh overall and first in five years, following their 2020 album Freeze, Melt. The new album is set for release on Friday, September 5th via Cutters Records and The Orchards. To coincide with the album's announcement, the Melbourne-born and UK-based electronica act have shared its second single, 'When This Is Over'. The follow-up to April's 'Solid', which will also appear on Moments, has been described by frontman Dan Whitford as 'one of those songs that instantly felt special' in a press statement. 'The song is about a relationship that has started to unravel,' he said. 'But also, a bit more globally, [it's a song] about trying to find empathy when parties are facing in seemingly opposite directions. Over the course of the song, the mood progresses from conflict to a sort of truce-like resolution.' Whitford also notes that this is the first Cut Copy song to feature a children's choir – something that he and his bandmates had 'talked for years about', but had never realised prior to the recording of this song. 'After writing the first half of the song in my studio on synths and a drum machine, I drove from Melbourne into the country to a primary school where a friend was a music teacher,' he said. '[I] spent a day recording a choir idea that became the basis of the second half of the song. Suddenly with the addition of the children's voices, the song had gone from a sketch into something magical.' To celebrate the release of Moments, the band will play their first home-country shows in over two-and-a-half years this September. They will play a hometown headlining show in Melbourne, as well as dates for both Sydney's Night At The Barracks concert series as well as its freshly-minted sister series Night At The Parkland in Brisbane. Award-winning housebuilder's new development in Cumbria is given the go-ahead

Genesis Homes has been given the go-ahead to build 27 new homes in Cumbria. The award-winning housebuilder will soon start work on its Edward's View development in Burgh by Sands, after receiving full planning permission for the two to five-bedroom houses and bungalows. The construction of these homes marks a busy start to the year for one of the North West's fastest-growing housebuilders. The Edward's View development will coincide with the construction of 99 homes at Derwent Rise in Seaton and 90 properties at Sandsfield Way in Carlisle, creating a trio of new developments across Cumbria. Nicky Gordon, the homebuilder's managing director, said: "We're thrilled to have entered 2025 with full steam ahead and our team is looking forward to starting work on numerous new developments, with further plans in the pipeline. "It is a really exciting time for Genesis Homes and we are delighted to be able to deliver on our promise to build high specification, energy efficient new homes for communities across Cumbria now that we have gained the necessary permissions from local authorities." Edward's View, named in tribute to King Edward I who died in Burgh by Sands in 1307, follows on from Genesis Homes' neighbouring 24-home development, The Orchards, with both being located close to historic Hadrian's Wall. Five of the 27 homes have been designated as affordable housing for local residents. Further benefits to the community will see Genesis contribute £90,000 towards education within the area and £40,000 to improve open spaces. Mr Gordon said: "Genesis Homes is really passionate about supporting communities and we always work with the local authority and current residents of the areas we build in to identify projects and schemes we can assist with. "Education and recreation are important components to any community and we're pleased to be improving vital provisions while providing much-needed housing which will enhance village life for local people."
