Queen Is Unlike Most Bands When It Comes To The Charts
Queen's name remains ever-present on the music charts in the United Kingdom. The group's catalog is so filled with hit singles that at least one compilation powered by its songs keeps the band on the weekly rankings, and in some cases, multiple collections appear. That's the case this frame, as several of Queen's most popular compilations not only make room on the charts, but return to them – but there's no crossover between the band's comebacks. Queen's Greatest Hits is present on four lists in the U.K. this week, and it returns to two of them. Typically, when a collection reappears on multiple rankings, it's because consumption of the set is growing in one form or another. This time around, Greatest Hits breaks back onto both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts at Nos. 87 and 86, respectively. At the same time, it declines on both the Official Albums Streaming roster and the Official Albums ranking, which measures the most consumed full-lengths and EPs in the nation. Queen also finds its way back to the Official Album Downloads chart, but not with Greatest Hits. Instead, another similar compilation, The Platinum Collection, reappears at No. 76 on the ranking of the most downloaded projects in the U.K. Queen currently appears on five different albums rankings in the nation with multiple projects, but there's no overlap between them at the moment. The outfit doesn't take up more than one space on a single list at a time, and yet there's enough interest in the band's work to power the two titles. Queen has reached No. 1 on most of the tallies the group currently appears on with these albums – but not in every instance. Greatest Hits still has yet to become the most-streamed release in the U.K. at any point, as it has thus far peaked at No. 5 on the Official Albums Streaming roster. The Platinum Collection, meanwhile, has climbed as high as No. 4, despite the fact that it has lived on the list for 356 frames. It's not uncommon for legacy acts like Queen to continue charting thanks to compilations, as that is typically how most fans revisit the smash hits that made a band famous in the first place. What's notable when it comes to Queen's performance is that the group remains on these rankings for hundreds of weeks at a time — and that the rockers can sometimes see multiple similar compilations live on the tallies simultaneously. That consistent presence shows that there is demand not just for these projects, but also for the tunes featured on their tracklists.

Queen's Catalog Is Still Growing, With One Massive Album Leading The Way
Queen never really needs help when it comes to the charts in the United Kingdom. The hometown heroes always seem to find space with one album or another, and in some instances, several at the same time. This frame, the band is doing more than just hanging on, as the group's work is on the rise yet again. The latest charts bring good news for the rock icons, as multiple albums reappear, many of them improve, and across the board, Queen's catalog is hugely successful once more. This week in the U.K., three of Queen's albums manage to appear on at least one ranking apiece. Two of them hold steady on a single tally each, while one of the band's most successful collections is in the middle of a serious resurgence. That particular title shows up on five charts simultaneously, returning to one and gaining ground on all the others. As is almost always the case, Greatest Hits is Queen's most successful effort on the charts. The title appears on five different U.K. rankings this frame, returning to one while growing in stature on the remaining four. Greatest Hits climbs five spaces to No. 31 on the Official Albums Streaming chart, where it currently stands out as the band's top-performing title. It also bounces back into the top 40 on the all-important Official Albums chart, the list that ranks the most consumed full-lengths in the country. On that tally, the set vaults from No. 42 to No. 33. The same release also re-enters the Official Album Downloads chart, settling at No. 58. That return is especially notable, as just a few weeks ago, it marked a full decade spent on the list. The compilation also improves on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts, climbing more than 20 spots on each. While it lands outside the top 40 on both of those tallies, the title's jumps to No. 61 and No. 73, respectively, show there's still real interest in not only playing the songs featured on its tracklist, but buying them as well. While Greatest Hits is the biggest success, it's not the only Queen title making major moves this week. The band also sees The Platinum Collection rise substantially on the Official Album Downloads chart. The multi-disc compilation jumps from No. 83 to No. 22, which is quite the leap. That surge ensures that Queen doubles up on the downloads-only list, as both The Platinum Collection and Greatest Hits appear on the tally at the same time. One more Queen project earns a spot on the charts this week. The Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack appears on the Official Soundtrack Albums list, which ranks the top-performing titles tied to film and television. The set lifts slightly, from No. 49 to No. 46 — a modest gain, but one that shows just how popular the band's catalog is, no matter in what form it's offered to consumers.

(Photo by Michael) Queen is one of those bands that can't be stopped — not by time, trends, or even the current generation of pop stars dominating the conversation. While many of today's biggest names come and go on the charts, Queen remains a mainstay in the United Kingdom, thanks to a catalog filled with legendary hits that continue to sell and stream well. This frame, the group returns to the spotlight in a bigger way than usual, as three of its albums find their way back to various charts throughout the country. Of the three albums from the group that come back this time around, Greatest Hits is the only one to reappear on more than one sales-focused tally. The ever-popular compilation returns to the Official Physical Albums chart at No. 92 and the Official Albums Sales ranking at No. 94. These two lists are based entirely on purchases, including CDs, vinyl, and digital downloads, when looking at the latter roster As it rebounds, Greatest Hits doubles the number of charts it's present on in the U.K. this week. Alongside its re-entries on the two aforementioned sales rankings, the best-of collection holds steady at No. 42 on the Official Albums chart, which ranks the 100 most-consumed projects in the nation. That's an impressive placement for a set that has now spent 1,146 frames on the tally. Streaming-wise, Queen continues to perform well too. Greatest Hits dips slightly, but still lives inside the top 40 on the Official Albums Streaming chart, landing at No. 36. The success of the Bohemian Rhapsody movie introduced Queen's music to an entirely new audience, and brought longtime fans back in droves. The film's soundtrack, which features many of the group's most iconic recordings, returns to the Official Soundtrack Albums chart this week at No. 49. Not content with just one greatest hits package charting, Queen also sees The Platinum Collection return to a separate tally. The expansive compilation re-enters the Official Album Downloads chart at No. 83. That ranking tracks the bestselling digital full-lengths in the U.K. via sites like iTunes. Each of the three titles currently placing on U.K. charts this frame — Greatest Hits, the Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack, and The Platinum Collection — has peaked inside the top five on every list it appears on. Among the bunch, Greatest Hits stands as the biggest success, having hit No. 1 on the Official Albums, Official Albums Sales, and Official Physical Albums charts. The only list it hasn't conquered (yet) is the Official Albums Streaming ranking, but considering Queen's continued popularity, that could still happen down the line.
