‘Economic realities' lead to final installment of Oregon country music festival
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A longstanding Oregon country music festival has revealed its 34th lineup will be its last. The Oregon Jamboree is slated for Friday, Aug. 1 through Sunday, Aug. 3 in Sweet Home. But the event will call it quits following the upcoming installation, after years of hosting popular artists like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban. According to organizers, the festival began in 1992 in an effort to spur economic development for the surrounding rural community that had faced several layoffs and business closures. Although the event has generated millions of dollars over the last three decades, leaders say it has run its course. 'Even with widespread community support and volunteers, the changing and increasing economic realities of running a music festival unfortunately no longer serve our mission to support rural economic development in the Willamette Valley,' the Oregon Jamboree said in an announcement on Tuesday. 'To our incredible volunteers, sponsors, community partners, artists and staff, thank you for your dedication to this event and to our community for so many years.' Organizers added that their board of directors has determined the event will not become financially feasible, despite how the 2025 festival turns out. Some attendees have already purchased tickets for next year's festival, and are currently awaiting refunds. The future of other happenings and organizations affiliated with the jamboree hangs in the balance. Leaders said they have yet to determine next steps for the Sweet Home Economic Development Group, which runs events like Tune It Up Tuesdays. With this year's festival still scheduled for later this summer, attendees will watch musicians like Clay Walker, Jordan Davis and Shane Smith and The Saints take the stage. Other upcoming Oregon music festivals include Project Pabst along Portland's Tom McCall Waterfront Park, The Best Day Ever in Troutdale's Edgefield Concerts on the Lawn and Pickathon on Happy Valley's Pendarvis Farm.

Fox Nation renews Martin Scorsese's record-breaking 'The Saints' docudrama for second season
Acclaimed filmmaker Martin Scorsese is returning to Fox Nation for a second season of the docudrama series "Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints." The eight-episode season will spotlight new religious figures, with each episode dedicated to one saint's journey of faith and sacrifice. Season two will feature prominent names such as Saint Mary the Virgin, Saint Peter, Saint Patrick, and Carlo Acutis, often referred to as the "patron saint of the internet," who is the most recent figure, and first millennial, to be considered for sainthood. Scorsese, who has long expressed a deep interest in religious storytelling, said the series fulfills a personal dream. "For many years, I dreamed of telling stories of the lives of the saints. It's been an obsession of mine for as long as I can remember," Scorsese said in a Fox Nation press release. "So the chance to do this series meant the world to me, and it's heartening to know that people have responded to it. I'm very excited to be coming back for a second season." Southampton Fires Back at Manchester City after Ruben Dias' Trash Talk
The race for the Premier League title is over, but Manchester City still needs to win games in order to maintain themselves in the qualification zone for the next Champions League season. Four teams are directly fighting every round to stay ahead of each other - Newcastle, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Aston Villa. Currently, Newcastle is the one leading the race for a win of difference from the other teams after beating Chelsea 1-0 in the St. James' Park – and Arsenal can fall back in line if they lose to Liverpool also on Sunday. Advertisement Manchester City had the chance to jump to second place, but failed to score against Southampton and the game ended in a draw with no goals. In the post-match interview, Rúben Dias had some words for The Saints players. 'They don't even try to play. They are just wasting time the whole game. I don't even feel they wanted to play the game, or win the game – they are just sitting around' - Dias said. For the most part of the game, Southampton only played defense versus Manchester City and had almost no chances to score a goal. After hearing the sharp words coming from the center-back, The Saints' social media team prepared a highlight of the game with all the chances the City failed to deliver. Southampton not staying in the Premier League Southampton were the first team relegated to the Championship this season. After failing to beat Tottenham in early April, the relegation was confirmed, being the first team off the Premier League for the next season. Along with The Saints, Leicester City and Ipswich Town are also joining England's second division in the 2025/26 season. Advertisement This was one of the worst performances in the team's history. Southampton were the first team to be relegated with as many as seven games left in the season. The last time the team failed to stay in the Premier League was in the 2005/06 season, and it only came back in 2012. The two remaining fixtures in the EPL for - at least - the next year will be against Everton at Goodison Park and Arsenal at St. Mary's Stadium (home).

Gana Nathan was having a drink with his friends Ainsley, Harish and Jerry, at the Backyard pub in Sri Hartamas one day. They were discussing the opening of a new place for drinks in the area, and were deciding on a suitable name. Play In a flash of divine intervention, they realised they were all from La Sallian schools, commonly named after saints. And that was how The Saints Bar here got its name. 'If you're looking for a chill place with good ambience and food at reasonable prices, The Saints is a great place. It's a wonderful place to catch up with old friends while meeting new ones,' Gana, an alumnus of St Xavier's Institution in Penang, told FMT Lifestyle. Since its inception, The Saints has become known by many in the area as a charming watering hole, with a warm and laid-back atmosphere perfect for unwinding after a busy day. The bar still hosts many Lasallian events and is frequently visited by many of its alumni. 'There was a Lasallian living in the US who was back here for a holiday. He heard about us on Facebook and wanted to visit. But he arrived at his hotel late,' Gana recalled. 'He called us to try his luck, and we told him we would wait for him. We ended up having a drink at midnight! That was such a nostalgic time, when two Lasallians came together.' The venue is also a heavenly place for live music: many popular and talented Malaysian musicians such as Gerard Singh, Arab & Badar, ICE & JC, The Jetliners, Wild Roses, Musique Sense, Eric & Rish, DJ Tipster, DJ Dr FUBU, Ziki and Leonard Tan have all graced the stage here over the years. Start off your meal with their sliced smoked duck – its crimson tangy sauce gives it quite a kick – or the super crispy and spicy onion pakoras which are addictive.
