Insider says Steelers will extend T.J. Watt before Trey Hendrickson gets his Bengals deal

Insider says Steelers will extend T.J. Watt before Trey Hendrickson gets his Bengals deal The Steelers, T.J. Watt contract situation just received some positive support from insider Peter Schrager. On a recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Schrager was asked to share his opinion on whether Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson or Watt would receive their pay first — and this was his argument: "I think T.J.," Schrager said. "I think T.J. Watt. I feel like I know both sides are really motivated to get something done here. They don't want to go into training camp and have this thing drag on. … Now, from what I'm told, both sides want it to get done. Obviously, T.J. Watt's going to want a certain amount of money. Question is, is it a game of chicken where it's, okay, T.J. Watt takes a deal that the Steelers offer and then, a week later, Micah Parsons blows his deal out of the water and we're in the same place that we were beforehand." Even if the Steelers act before the Bengals, Raiders DE Maxx Crosby's and Browns DE Myles Garrett's deals make extending Watt difficult — but waiting until Parsons signs a historic extension with the Cowboys could make the negations in Pittsburgh near impossible. Report: Steelers signing former Super Bowl champion WR to one-year deal

Report: Steelers signing former Super Bowl champion WR to one-year deal The Steelers have just brought in a veteran presence to their wide receiver room — none other than 33-year-old WR Robert Woods. Woods is coming to Pittsburgh on a one-year, $2 million deal and will be exactly what the Steelers lacked in 2024 — a veteran mind to help guide the young receiving corps. Woods was drafted in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Bills. He would spend the first four years of his career in Buffalo but found the most success during his time with the Rams from 2017 to 2021, where he had back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons in 2018 and 2019. The former Rams receiver would tear his ACL in November of 2021 and would spend the rest of the season on IR — where his teammates would help propel him to the title of Super Bowl LVI champion when the Rams defeated the Bengals 23-20. Woods would spend one season with the Titans and two seasons with the Texans following the unfortunate injury and has never truly made the same impact since his days as a Ram. At worst, Woods is a great depth addition for an offense sorely needing veteran players, and at best he could rekindle his career from the slot.

Steelers bring back WR Scotty Miller

The Steelers have brought back another one of their own receivers. Last week, they re-signed Ben Skowronek. Today, they announced that Scotty Miller has returned, on a one-year deal. A sixth-round pick of the Buccaneers in 2019, Miller spent four year in Tampa, one in Atlanta, and one in Pittsburgh. In 13 games with one start in 2024, he caught five passes for 69 yards. His best season came in 2020 with the Bucs, with 33 catches for 501 yards and three touchdowns. Tampa Bay won the Super Bowl that year. Last week, the Steelers traded for D.K. Metcalf, and Van Jefferson left via free agency. The other top names on the depth chart include George Pickens and Calvin Austin III. In 2024, the Steelers drafted former Michigan receiver Roman Wilson in the third round; he appeared in only one game last season, with five offensive snaps and no statistics.
