The Chase's Darragh Ennis admits ‘I could be arrested' for kind gesture on show
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Darragh Ennis says it would be "a literal arrestable crime" if he let contestants win in the final round on The Chase. The ITV show features four contestants who take part in a minimum of two rounds to build a prize fund for the team. Those lucky enough to get through to the final round work together to answer as many questions as possible. The Chaser then has two minutes to try to beat their total, and if this is a success, their prize fund is erased. If time runs out before the Chaser catches them however, they share the prize fund equally. Darragh, 44, is one of the six Chasers, alongside; Mark Labbett aka The Beast, Jenny Ryan aka The Vixen, Anne Hegerty aka The Governess, Shaun Wallace aka The Dark Destroyer, and Paul Sinha, aka The Sinnerman. As for Darragh, who is known on the show as The Menace, he was previously a contestant before joining the line-up of quizmasters in 2020. The Irish Chaser admitted he signed up to the programme at a time when he was struggling with money and paying off credit card debt. While many would think he has more sympathy for the contestants given his background, Darragh said this isn't the case. He joked: "No, I want to crush their dreams." Speaking on the Guestimators podcast, he added that he "absolutely" tries his best to "go in for the kill". "What people don't realise is it would be a crime, a literal arrestable crime, for me to let them off because those winnings are tax free," he shared. "And if there's one person who will come after you, it's the tax man and it would be morally wrong, and it would make terrible television. But yeah, it would literally be a crime, I could be arrested." Darragh's journey on the show began in 2017, when he and his team faced Paul. He earned an impressive £9,000 in his cash builder round and made it through to the final. Out of his team, he was the only one to select what he earned in the second round, while the others took the Chaser's lower offer. The final prize fund ended up being a total of £6,300, giving each contestant £1,575 when the team successfully beat Paul. Speaking on Loose Women earlier this year, Darragh said he flagged a problem with a question during his time on the show, and believes this helped him secure the job. "I did really well, I answered a lot of questions, but I'm also very, very calm on camera," he said of his experience. "I naturally don't get stage fright, because I think a large part of me doesn't care what other people think about me. So a lot of people who would be better at quizzes than me would freeze, whereas I didn't. "It didn't make the edit on the show but there was a problem with one of the questions, and I raised the problem while I was a contestant, and I think that might have slightly flagged things up. But I'm just really glad they did [hire me]."

The Chase fans rage 'what is going on here?!' as Bradley Walsh accepts 'incorrect' answer from Jenny Ryan - blasting ITV for 'costing contestant the win' in brutal final round
The Chase fans raged as Bradley Walsh accepted an 'incorrect' answer from Jenny Ryan during the most recent instalment of the ITV show. Monday's episode saw Nick, 65, Laura, 41, Aiden, 22, and Vivienne, 59, take on Jenny, 43, AKA The Vixen in a bid to win some cash. Despite their best efforts, only Laura and Nick made it through to the final round with £3k. But one answer that Jenny put forward to host Bradley certainly ruffled a few feathers to those watching at home. Bradley asked: 'What colour indicates semi-skimmed milk on bottles?' After pondering about her answer, Jenny said: 'Red and silver.' Bradley replied: 'I'll accept.' Many watching rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their anger - pointing out that it wasn't 'correct'. 'Semi skimmed milk tops are green #thechase.' 'Semi skimmed is green!' 'I thought semi skimmed was green?!# However others pointed out there's a difference in colour coding between glass and plastic containers. 'On bottles it's red and silver stripes,' one wrote. 'Semi skimmed milk in glass bottles are red/silver striped. Poly containers it's green. #thechase.' Last week, fans of The Chase were left fuming by a question they've 'heard a million times before' from Bradley Walsh. Thursday's instalment of the popular quiz show saw contestants Wayne, Emma, Spencer and Gillian take on the Chaser Mark Labbett, known as The Beast, in an attempt to win a cash prize. By the end, only pharmacist Emma and Wayne, who works as a local government officer, had made it to the final round and built up a £12,000 pot. As they worked their way through their last set of questions, Bradley asked: 'The Grin Reaper is a work by which Bristol street artist?' The correct answer was Banksy, however the mention of the artist set some fans into a rage because they felt he was frequently referenced on the show. One penned: 'Daily Banksy question #TheChase.' Another chimed in: 'Banksy, Banksy, stupid f*****g Banksy. #thechase.' While someone else, according to the Express penned: 'Banksy klaxon! We've heard these Banksy questions a million times!' Viewers have previously pointed out that the street artist has featured in questions before and commented: 'Banksy eh? Never heard him mentioned before. #thechase.'; 'Has there ever been a final chase where Banksy hasn't been one of the answers? #thechase.'; 'Banksy!!! Of course!! Hasn't been mentioned yet this week..... #thechase.'; 'It seems like ages since we've had a Banksy question - but in fact it was probably only 4 days ago… #TheChase.' 'Oh a Banksy question that's a first #TheChase,' someone else said, followed by an eye-roll emoji. In the end, Mark beat the contestants with 28 seconds remaining and they walked away empty handed. It comes after The Chase fans were left 'screaming at the screen' as a contestant fumbled a 'ridiculously easy' question on a recent episode of the ITV game show. The correct answer was Banksy , however the mention of the artist set some fans into a rage because they felt he was frequently referenced on the show Viewers have previously pointed out that the street artist has featured in questions before The repeat instalment, shown earlier this week, saw Justin from Manchester, Reanna from Liverpool, Nicola from Nottingham and Matthew from Leeds take on the game. They were up against Shaun Wallace AKA The Dark Destroyer as they competed against the expert quizzer in a bid to take home the cash prize. Justin was first up to the podium, supported by host Bradley - but he was soon caught out and eliminated before reaching the final round. Reanna came next, building up a solid £4,000 during the cash builder quick-fire round - so things were looking good for the contestant. But the final question she faced - since dubbed 'ridiculously easy' by fans - during the main Chase itself saw her taken out too. Bradley asked her: 'In legend, how did the basilisk kill its prey?' He was referring to a serpent-like monster from Greek and Roman mythology which can kill with a stare. But it was made more famous after it was included in the second Harry Potter book, as the terrifying magical beast living in the titular Chamber of Secrets. The contestants were up against Shaun Wallace AKA The Dark Destroyer (pictured) as they competed against the expert quizzer in a bid to take home the cash prize The options Reanna was given were 'stinging', 'shouting' and 'staring'. Sadly, though, she missed the correct answer of 'staring' and found herself eliminated from the game. Viewers took to social media to express their frustration at her missing what could have been an easy win in their eyes. One said, the Express reports: 'She's clearly never watched Harry Potter.' The Chase is available to watch on ITV1 on weeknights at 5pm and to stream on ITVX.

The Chase hit by ‘fix' claims as chaser Jenny Ryan wins after controversial answer
THE Chase has been hit by fix claims after viewers insisted Jenny Ryan won after giving a WRONG answer. The popular ITV quiz format recently aired a repeated episode of the programme in which many viewers claim that a wrong answer was accepted as correct - and ultimately caused the team to lose against The Vixen. 3 3 In the episode, hosted as always by Bradley Walsh, Jenny was taking on the day's remaining players in the Final Chase round. Nick from Liverpool, Laura from Bolton, Aiden from Falkirk, and Vivienne from Bracknell, were all hoping to prove successful and show that they had better brains than flame-haired Jenny. As the episode neared its end, only Laura and Nick managed to make it through as they played for a rather small final amount of £3,000. They correctly got 14 answers before Jenny did her best to try and better them. But as her round of questions got underway, one of them became a talking point online. Bradley asked Jenny: 'What colour indicates semi-skimmed milk on bottles?' It took Jenny a few seconds to give an answer as it became clear that she was not overly confident on the question. Having paused for a few moments, she then replied to Bradley, saying: "It's red and silver." Bradley immediately told her that he would "accept" her answer but it instantly sparked furore online. Many were quick to argue that semi-skimmed milk featured a green top and that Jenny's answer was incorrect and should have been voided. The Chase fans left screaming as player gets 'ridiculously easy' question wrong - but would you know the answer- Reacting in shock online, one fan penned: 'Excuse me? Semi-skimmed is GREEN!' Another also echoed the sentiment as they wrote: 'Incorrect answer from #TheVixen given as correct? They were one correct answer away from winning!' A third went on to write: 'Semi-skimmed milk carton tops are Green (or white), NOT RED, which is skimmed milk... What is going on here?' Before someone else stated: 'Am I going mad? I'm sure the question was about the colour of tops on semi-skimmed milk. "The Chaser said red and silver... it's green. Or did I mishear?' Jenny's answer was not wholly incorrect as it appeared that she was referring to traditional glass bottles often delivered by milkmen. Glass bottled semi-skimmed milk has traditionally featured a red and silver top. However, when bought from supermarkets in a carton, which is the more widely accessible option, the bottle lid is in fact green. It is likely that Jenny took the question literally to make sure she referred to a "bottle" as opposed to a carton in order to ensure a correct answer was given. The Chase's best moments The Chase has been entertaining ITV viewers for years, here are some of the show's most memorable moments... Bradley Walsh can't stop laughing Every time host Bradley Walsh erupts into fits of laughter on The Chase it makes for pretty entertaining TV. One particularly memorable occasion was when he was asking the question 'The title of which Elvis Presley song was engraved of the inside of Freddie Star's coffin?" As usual the contestant was given four multiple choices but Bradley could get through reading them out before bursting into hysterics. Seeming the idea of the song being option 'B: Way Down' was too much for the presenter to handle. The Double Trouble special To celebrate 15 years of The Chase on screens, ITV launched a special 'double trouble' episode where contestants faced off against not one but two of the show's beloved Chasers. And despite the odds, the contestants managed to go home with some cash! The contestants with famous names Eagle-eyed ITV fans are always quick to spot interesting and sometimes hidden details on the quiz show - but there have been a few times where the names of some contestants have been overtly obvious. For example, one 2017 episode of the quiz show saw Bradley welcome four contestants who were named after Friends characters Ross, Rachel, Phoebe and Joey. Another group of contestants with named from The Simpsons were also grouped together in another episode, much to viewers' amusement. The Beast's anger gets the best of him During an episode from the 2024 season, Mark Labbett let out his inner beast as he exploded in a fit of anger. Close to losing the competition in the Final Chase, Mark then made a silly mistake and incorrectly answered the question, 'Rabbit was a 1980 hit for which Cockney duo?' 'Oh, you idiot!' he yelled at himself while slamming the table in front of him. With seconds left on the clock, the Chaser then admitted defeat, moaning "I don't deserve to win." 3

ITV The Chase removed from screens in huge scheduling shake up
ITV The Chase has been pulled off air in an unexpected scheduling change The Chase will not air on ITV1 tonight following a schedule shake-up. The popular ITV game show, presented by Bradley Walsh, has been removed from its usual 5pm slot to make way for the continuing coverage of Royal Ascot. The horse racing will be screened from 1:30pm - 6pm tonight, disrupting The Chase's usual time slot. No episode of the popular programme aired on Tuesday June 17. The schedule change is set to continue throughout the rest of the week, meaning no episode will air on Thursday or Friday either. Fans will need to patiently wait until next Monday (June 23) to see the show return to screens. The daytime TV behemoth features a team of the some of the UK's best quizzing gurus including Mark Labbett (The Beast), Shaun Wallace (The Dark Destroyer), Jenny Ryan (The Vixen), Anne Hegerty (The Governess), Paul Sinha (The Sinnerman) and Darragh Ennis (The Menace). The Chase first debuted on screens in 2009 and soon became a hit among viewers. Hopeful contestants battle it out and test their general knowledge skills as they attempt to beat the chaser and take home a whopping cash prize. It is not the first time the quiz show has faced disruption to scheduling. Earlier this month, it was taken off air to make way for coverage of the UEFA Women's Nations League, Spain v England. The Chase also had to switch up its usual time slot last week when two Soccer Aid for UNICEF Celebrity special episodes aired on Wednesday and Friday. Last Wednesday, Shaun Williamson, Lianne Sanderson, Dion Dublin and David James all teamed up to try and beat chaser Darragh Ennis. After four rounds, the entire team managed to make it back, and have been praised for their "superb" win after they managed to beat the quiz guru and take home £150k for UNICEF. The stars sent an impressive 23 score for Darragh which he was unable to beat. Fans at home were delighted as one said: "This is the best episode I've seen, they have to win this." Another chimed in: "Wow what a well deserved win. Such a great team! £150K." Meanwhile, Dermot O'Leary, Kyle Walker, Alex Brooker and Lynsey Hipgrave went up against Anne Hegarty on Friday night. For the special occasion, Anne switched up her usual ITV attire and appeared in a football top and red lipstick instead. She was also defeated by the team who managed to bag an incredible £169k for UNICEF after answering 21 correct questions. The Chase will resume its normal scheduling time slot of 5pm on ITV every weekday next week.

Livid The Chase fans accuse Bradley Walsh of 'stitching up' contestant with two sneaky tactics to secure Jenny Ryan's victory
The Chase fans accused Bradley Walsh of 'stitching up' a contestant with two sneaky tactics to secure Jenny Ryan's victory on Monday's instalment of the show. Kerry, Ellena, Alex and Fraser joined forces to take on Jenny AKA The Vixen to get their hands on a hefty cash prize. Unfortunately the players didn't manage to win the money and Jenny ended up with £61,000. Those watching at home took to social media to point out two factors that will have helped her succeed. Some viewers pointed out that Host Bradley Walsh, 65, was asking the contestants much harder questions than The Vixen. 'What a p*** take that was. The questions for the chaser were simple.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'The Vixen flew through those!' 'Much easier questions for the chaser as per!' Meanwhile another was convinced that the speed of how Bradley asked the questions changed depending on who he was asking. 'Bradley asked the questions a lot quicker for the chaser than he did for the contestants #TheChase.' It's not the first time that viewers have been left fuming. The Chase fans took to social media to share their fury over allegedly 'fixed' questions while watching a recent episode of the ITV show. Michael, Francine, Amy and Jamie took to screens to take on Mark Labbett, AKA The Beast, in a bid to win a cash prize. Mark joined The Chase in 2009, but before starring in the programme, he had a very different job as a supply PE and mathematics teacher in Wales. In the latest general knowledge contest, viewers claimed that the questions being asked were very much geared in his favour, leaving contestants with a difficult battle. Host Bradley Walsh first asked: 'The International Medal for Outstanding Discoveries in Mathematics is more commonly known as what?' To which Francine said: 'He knows this doesn't he?' 'Of course he does, he's a mathematician,' Bradley replied. Moments later, he asked a sports related question which said: 'Which Middle Eastern country played in 2021 Rugby League World Cup?' And again, Mark knew the answer straight away as Francine confessed: 'Not a clue.' Unfortunately, she answered incorrectly and was booted out of the competition, while Mark got the correct answer - Lebanon. Many rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their frustration over what questions that she had to answer. Comments included: 'Funny how they give all the maths questions to the maths teacher Chaser. #TheChase.' 'Maths teacher gets maths question….. #TheChase,' with a gif of Cardi B saying 'that's suspicious.' 'Maths question followed by rugby question for the rugby-loving maths teacher Mark.' 'Maths teacher, maths question', alongside a confused face emoji.
