Robert De Niro, 81, in wild crossover as he takes daughter to meet The Wiggles

Taxi Driver actor Robert De Niro, 81, enjoyed a wholesome trip to see The Wiggles in New York City with his two-year-old daughter, Gia Robert De Niro swapped Hollywood sets for something a little more wholesome as he took his two-year-old daughter Gia to meet The Wiggles. The 81-year-old A-lister, who shares the toddler with martial artist girlfriend Tiffany Chen, 45, took the little one to hang out with the Australian children's group before their show in New York over the weekend. The Wiggles shared a sweet clip of Robert shaking hands with all the cast members, who were dressed in their colourful costumes ready for the show. The Taxi Driver actor looked delighted to be there while adorable Gia played with bubbles and looked at her favourite characters in awe. ‌ ‌ "It was such a thrill to spend some time with the legendary Robert De Niro and his family before our concert here in New York City," they captioned the post. A few other children and their parents were seen backstage with the cast as they entertained the little ones. Earlier this year, Robert opened up about life as a new dad. While appearing on BBC Radio 2 's Breakfast Show in February, the actor spoke to radio host Scott Mills about his daughter Gia. Robert - known for films like The Godfather Part II (1974) and Taxi Driver (1976) - revealed in the interview that he doesn't watch as many films as he "should". He went on to tease that he watches children's shows with Gia though. Asked what he watches at home, the actor told host Scott: "I don't watch as many movies as I should. I try to watch films especially that I'm told ... I just wanna keep up, but I watch current events if you will, news, stuff like that. ‌ "Now I watch with my little girl ... the Wiggles and Ms Rachel." Scott then asked about his knowledge of other kids shows, saying: "Do you know about Bluey?" Robert replied: "No. I'll look up ... I'll look for them." The presenter said: "Please will someone write this down because this might change your life in terms of attention span. Do you know what I'm saying? Bluey and Hey Duggee." ‌ Robert responded: "Bluey and Hey Duggee, okay." While discussing the Wiggles and Ms Rachel, he added: "I didn't know of them until I started seeing them and my daughter loves to watch them." He later said about the Wiggles: "They're great. Got lots of energy, they're terrific." In January, Robert told The Times that he's an "early riser" and said about his youngest daughter: "I spend my mornings watching Ms Rachel with her, and I give her her bottle."

Legendary Hollywood icon Robert De Niro, 81, takes his two-year-old daughter to meet The Wiggles

The Wiggles certainly have no shortage of fans across the globe, but even they were surprised this week when a Hollywood legend popped by to say 'hello'. The iconic Australian children's group took to Instagram to share a backstage clip before a show in New York over the weekend. While it was definitely The Wiggles' show, one guest took centre stage prior to the group wowing throngs of adoring fans. Hollywood icon Robert De Niro looked absolutely chuffed to be meeting members Greg Page, Tsehay Hawkins, Simon Pryce, as well as the Dancing Tree Of Wisdom. While he has previously admitted to being a fan of The Wiggles, doting dad De Niro used his star power to meet the Aussie icons and impress his youngest daughter Gia, two. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. De Niro shares his youngest child Gia with his professional martial artist girlfriend Tiffany Chen, 45, who was also in attendance. While The Wiggles were obviously a bit starstruck about meeting the Hollywood legend, little Gia could only stare up at her skivvy-clad heroes in wonderment. The family was even lucky enough to get an impromptu pre-show performance, with the Wiggles singing their song Rock-A-Bye Your Bear as De Niro watched on with a broad grin. De Niro appeared genuinely appreciative of the meeting giving Greg Page a hearty hug after the performance. Yellow Wiggle Tsehay Hawkins also shared a short clip of the auspicious meeting that was augmented with the iconic Godfather theme music. The clips sent Wiggles fans into a frenzy, with many commenting on how humble De Niro appeared. 'I love that he reaches out to hug them all,' one fan offered, while another replied: 'I noticed that! And he shook everyone's hands. Seems like a genuinely nice man.' 'What an unforgettable experience! Spending time with Robert De Niro and his family must have been so special. A true legend,' another commented, summing up the sentiment of many. Others were quick to point out just how happy the actor looked in the clip, with the likes of: 'Never seen Robert smile that much on anything.' It comes after De Niro recently gave a rare insight into how he is finding parenting daughter Gia. Speaking to Scott Mills on his BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show in February, the Taxi Driver star revealed he doesn't watch as many movies as he should because he often finds himself watching children's TV instead. 'I don't watch as many movies as I should, I try to watch films especially that I'm to,' he began.' The Godfather star continued: 'I just wanna keep up, but I watch current events if you will news stuff like that. Now I watch with my little girl, The Wiggles and Ms Rachel. Mills asked: 'Do you know about Bluey?' 'I'll look up, I'll look for them,' he replied. The radio host added: 'Please will someone write this down because this might change your life in terms of attention span. Do you know what I'm saying? Bluey and Hey Duggee. De Niro said: 'The Wiggles and Ms Rachel I didn't know of them until I started seeing them and my daughter loves to watch them… But they're great!' Aside from Gia, De Niro also has six other other children: Drena, 56, and Raphael, 47 with his ex-wife Diahnne Abbott, Elliot, 25, and Helen, 12, with ex-wife Grace Hightower, and twins Aaron and Julian, 28, with former girlfriend, Toukie Smith. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight last month, De Niro also revealed what he thought was the most important rule of parenting. 'As long as they're not hurting themselves, doing anything destructive or anything like that, you have to support them — period.' The A Bronx Tale star added, 'Even if you don't go with it or think that they… you have to support them. And they have to know that you support them. Always.'

‘I will always love you': Excited Wiggles meet legend Dolly

Australian music legends The Wiggles have saddled up with country superstar Dolly Parton in a meeting that was extra special for one Wiggle. After collaborating on two songs together remotely, Friends! and We Will Always Be Friends, the country legend and Aussie performers finally met up in Nashville, Tennessee. They had the chance to link while The Wiggles were performing in Parton's home State during their USA tour. 'From growing up singing her songs to actually singing with her, this was truly a dream come true,' The Wiggles said on social media. 'Meeting Dolly in Nashville felt like a big warm hug. Her kindness, joy and sparkle are everything we imagined and more. 'Dolly, you're a legend, a light and a friend for life.' It was an extra special meet up for Red Wiggle and super fan Caterina Mete, who has a tattoo of Parton on her forearm, which the country music singer signed. 'Thank you for being part of my life,' she said. 'Let's get a picture, let's get famous together.' Before saying cheese, the group had to teach Parton how to do their signature 'Wiggle Fingers'. The album has cameos from other Aussie and international country music singers including MacKenzie Porter, Troy Cassar-Daley, Morgan Evans, Slim Dusty and Travis Collins.

Jimmy Barnes issues urgent plea to help find son's nephew

Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes has issued a desperate plea to help find a missing relative. Blake Powell, the 14-year-old nephew of the musician's son Jackie Barnes, vanished two days ago from Sydney's northwest. On Sunday, the singer shared a missing person's media release from The Hills District Police Command as he asked his fans: 'Please help us find Blake'. Blake was last seen at 4pm on Friday 13 June in Castle Hill. Police and Family hold concerns for his welfare given his young age. 'He is 185cm tall, of thin build, 70kg, Caucasian appearance with an olive complexion, brown hair and eyes,' police said. 'He is known to use public transport and frequent shopping centres throughout the Sydney area.' Jackie Barnes also called on his followers to reach out if they had any information. 'My nephew Blake is missing. He's a great kid,' he said. 'If anyone has seen him please get in touch.' Jackie Barnes, the third child and only son of Jimmy Barnes and his wife Jane Mahoney, followed in his father's musical footsteps, with a career as a drummer and singer. He has worked with many artists, including his dad, Steve Van Zandt, The Wiggles, Rose Tattoo and his uncle Diesel. Jackie Barnes married his wife, Stephanie, a freelance photographer, more than 13 years ago and the pair share two daughters. Anyone with information about Blake's location is urged to contact Crime Stoppers or Castle Hill Police.
