Jennifer Lopez has funny response to fan asking for hand in marriage
Jennifer Lopez is not looking to head down the aisle again anytime soon.
During a stop in Spain during her Up All Night tour July 15, as seen in social media video, the singer spotted a fan sign that read: "JLo marry me."
"I think I'm done with that," she said with a laugh, signaling a "no" with a neck-swipe gesture. "I've tried that a few times."
Lopez is just coming off her divorce from Ben Affleck, which was finalized in January, after Lopez first filed on Aug. 20, 2024, the second anniversary of the estranged couple's Georgia wedding ceremony. The two were engaged to each other twice: first in 2002, then again in 2022.
Lopez has been married four times: to then-waiter Ojani Noa, dancer Cris Judd, singer Marc Anthony – with whom she shares two children – and Affleck.
Following tabloid rumors of their split, Lopez canceled her This Is Me... Live tour and announced she was "taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends." She told comedian and TV host Nikki Glaser in an Interview magazine cover story after news of their divorce became public that the period was "probably the hardest time of my life."
"There's times when I thought I figured it out, and then life goes, 'Let's send you another thing and see if you fall for it. Let's see if you really have learned that lesson,'" Lopez said in October. "And I hadn't. I understand that now in a much deeper way, which doesn't mean that I won't make mistakes in the future, but again, when your whole house blows up, you're standing there in the rubble going, 'How do I not ever let that happen again?'"
Jennifer Garner, Ben Affleck reunite for family night at Boston Red Sox baseball game
Affleck, 52, broke his silence on the divorce in March, telling GQ in an interview that he has "nothing but respect" for the singer and stressed that there was no single, dramatic event that ended their marriage.
"There's no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue," he told the outlet. "The truth is, when you talk to somebody, 'Hey, what happened?' Well, there is no: 'This is what happened.'"
But Affleck said that while there is "a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something," the truth of his split from Lopez "is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting."
