Motorcyclist run over by trailer in highway crash
SEREMBAN: A motorcyclist was killed when he was run over by a trailer at KM254.6 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) heading north near here yesterday.
Seremban police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din said the 51-year-old victim died at the scene from severe head injuries in the 4pm incident.
"Initial investigations found that the victim was trying to avoid a four-wheel drive (4WD), driven by a 65-year-old man with a 54-year-old woman passenger, which had braked suddenly.
"He swerved right and struck the 4WD's right side mirror before falling into the right lane and being run over by a trailer," he said in a statement today.
Another motorcyclist riding behind the victim was unable to stop in time and also crashed into the 4WD.
No injuries were reported involving the 4WD occupants, the second motorcyclist, or the trailer driver.
The victim's body was sent to the Rembau Hospital Forensic Department for post-mortem.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Police have asked anyone with information to contact investigating officer Inspector Tiew Chuan Jie at 014-9668399 or the nearest police station.
