I'm a theme park ‘fat tester' – I spent my day squeezing into seats at Thorpe Park & these are the rides you can't go on
A PLUS-SIZE woman has been dubbed a 'theme park fat tester' after spending the day seeing which rollercoasters she could fit into and which ones left her sat on the sidelines. Posting under 2 Tiktoker, @TeamTopsy is a self proclaimed 'fat-tester' Credit: Tiktok/ @Teamtopsy 2 She spent her day squeezing into rides at Thorpe Park Credit: Tiktok/ @Teamtopsy Wearing leggings, trainers and a positive attitude, she spent the day climbing into test seats, checking harness space and asking staff for tips on how She joked that she was '72 miles off' from fitting into Colossus but gave a full, no-nonsense review of what each ride was like for people in bigger bodies. Some rides like The Walking Dead and Detonator were surprisingly comfy, with wide seats and space to spare. Others, like Stealth, were a definite no as she couldn't even pull the harness down. Read more on theme parks She rated Nemesis Inferno as one of the best for She also praised the helpful staff who moved queues around to help her access special seats. But it wasn't all smooth sailing. On Hyperia, one of Most read in Fabulous Susan, who rode several rides solo when her friend didn't fit, described Hyperia as 'the best ride ever' but admitted the airtime was so intense she felt like she might fly out of her seat. Samurai, Colossus and Saw were all marked as too tight for guests over a size 18. We Spent the Day at Thorpe Park and Rode EVERY Rollercoaster with the Family And she highlighted that rides with chest restraints could be especially tricky for those with larger busts. She explained that Samurai's locking system wouldn't close over her 63-inch chest and recommended others check out test seats first to avoid embarrassment at the front of the queue. The TikToker didn't sugar-coat it, saying that while She summed it up by saying the park was 'not completely accessible for full-size bodies,' despite fitting on more rides than she did at The key, she said, is to ask for the bigger seats and not be afraid to speak up. Fans praised her honesty in the comments, with one saying: 'As a plus-size person, I love this. Thanks for being real.' But others were cruel, calling her names and telling her not to bother going. One even wrote: 'Anything but a calorie deficit.' Still, she's not letting the trolls stop her and she's already planning to try more parks soon. As she put it: 'If I die, I die — but at least I had a laugh.' Use these tips on your next theme park trip Next time you visit a theme park, you may want to use our top tips to make the most of your adrenaline-inducing day out. Go to the back of the theme park first. Rides at the front will have the longest queues as soon as it opens. Boots exposed for shameful 'pink tax' prices in viral video as shoppers left furious
Boots exposed for shameful 'pink tax' prices in viral video as shoppers left furious A Tiktoker has exposed the retailer for it's 'pink tax' prices after comparing the huge price difference between the same product found in both the female and male section of the store. A TikToker has called out Boots for its 'pink tax' prices (Image: TikTok/@thefinancegurl ) Boots has been called out by a shopper for their 'pink tax' prices in an online video which has sparked outrage and left social media users furiously questioning 'how is this legal'. In a TikTok video, uploaded by Scots content creator @thefinancegurl, she explained that the health and beauty retailer were selling her favourite Boots moisturiser in the female section for double the price of an even bigger bottle of the exact same product in the men's aisle of the store. The only difference between the two products was that the 30ml dearer bottle was in pink packaging and the cheaper 50ml bottle was in green packaging. This is known as the 'pink tax', which refers to the phenomenon where products marketed towards women are often priced higher than comparable products marketed towards men. The video titled 'Boots Money Saving Hack' starts with the warning: "Don't pay more for pink packaging." The creator then films herself picking up the moisturiser from the female section of the store before comparing the same product in the men's aisle. She says: "This hyaluronic acid moisturiser from Boots is one of my favourites. It cost £5.40 for the 30ml bottle. "But if you head over to the men's skincare section, you can get exactly the same product for way cheaper." Article continues below Content cannot be displayed without consent Holding up the same moisturiser from the male aisle, she says: "This one costs £2.50 for 50ml of product so you're actually getting more product for half the price. "When you compare the ingredients side by side, they are identical, nothing is different apart from the fact that one is in green packaging and one is pink packaging. "So when you're shopping for toiletries, it's always worth checking if the men's section has a cheaper alternative because the pink tax is very real." The video has since gone viral with over 848k views and 101k likes. It also sparked a whole load of outrage in the comment section as shoppers have said that Boots should be 'ashamed' for their pink tax prices. One furious user commented: "Can't believe boots out of everyone is doing this." Another fumed: "HOW IS THIS LEGAL." A third tagged Boots as they wrote: "@Boots UK you have an opportunity to do something very cool here, be the first UK drug store to acknowledge and ban the pink tax." A fourth remarked: "I think that gender imbalance is literally illegal. Being charged more for less product because of being a woman? I'd be interested to see the legal position of that." Another echoed: "Honestly brands should be more ashamed of this." Join the Daily Record's WhatsApp community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages Despite the video's purpose being to raise awareness in the hope that the prices will be made equal in the future, some users stated that drawing attention to the pink tax prices will only cause the retailer to up the price of the male section. One wrote: "The problem is, you know now it's been pointed out, they won't reduce the women's products, they'll just increase the price of men's products, screwed either way!" Article continues below Another agreed: "I hate that boots are probably just going to raise the price of the men's one now instead of bringing the price of the pink one down."

TikToker Liv, who posts as @LifewithLiv, shared her friend Emma's wedding glow-up with her followers, and it's left viewers floored. In the video, Liv admits she was sceptical when Emma said her dream dress would be arriving in a Shein delivery bag. She confessed: 'I said, Emma, I think you're making a big mistake here, love." But fast-forward to the big day and Liv couldn't believe her eyes. The Tiktoker admitted: 'She looked absolutely stunning, you would never, ever have known it cost less than £100.' And the most jaw-dropping part was that Emma didn't even need any alterations. The elegant, lace-trimmed gown fit her like a glove, no pinning, no tailoring, no drama. 'It helps that she's gorgeous inside and out,' Liv added. 'But it just proves you don't need to spend thousands on a dress to look like a 10 out of 10.' I wasn't going to spend thousands on a wedding dress so got an Oh Polly one for £75 - no one would know it wasn't pricey To top it off, Emma even changed into a second frock for the evening into a short, flirty little number also from Shein. A third raved: 'You look a million dollars.' Emma's dress cost just £95 at the time, though prices on Shein can change daily, so it's worth double-checking the site. Holly and Dan, both 29 and from Birmingham, managed to slash their wedding costs by over £10,000, spending just £8,000 on the entire event. Speaking to wedding dress experts at Chesca, the bride said: 'We weren't aiming for luxury but even basic things were spiralling. It started feeling like we were paying for pressure instead of meaning.' So the pair ditched tradition, skipped the fluff, and focused on what really mattered. Instead of a Saturday ceremony, they tied the knot on a Thursday, instantly saving £2,300 on their venue. They swapped pricey paper invites for a free wedding website and WhatsApp group, cutting £400. A buffet with grazing boards replaced the formal three-course dinner, saving another £200 and guests loved the relaxed vibe. Rather than shell out on pricey wedding favours, they made a donation to charity, knocking off another £200. Even their photographer was a savvy find. They hired a final-year student who charged a third of the usual price, saving them £1,500. And instead of splurging on a wedding car, Holly's dad drove her to the ceremony in his Volvo. She even managed to save herself money on her dress, snapping up a pre-loved designer gown. Wedding experts at Chesca say more brides are now embracing pre-loved gowns. They said: 'They're sustainable, affordable, and just as show-stopping.' So if you're getting married, don't stress over the price tag because as these budget brides have proven, you absolutely can look a million dollars on a budget. A fashion expert's verdict on buying a wedding dress from Shein Fabulous' Fashion Editor, Clemmie Fieldsend reveals why you shouldn't be shopping at Shein for your wedding dress. "When it comes to your big day, you want to feel your best and look your best. You want to feel special and, more importantly, be comfortable in what you're wearing, are you going to get that from Shein? I doubt it. Look, in an ideal world you're getting hitched to the person of your dreams and what you wear is irrelevant. But let's be honest, it's kind of a big deal. If you're spending your hard earned cash on food, drinks, favours and everything else to celebrate you and your partner with your nearest and dearest, you deserve a dress that makes you feel like a million dollars. But a £30 frock from Shein is a gamble. It might be ill fitting, it might be badly made or just the complete opposite to what you expected. High street bridal dresses are ten a penny these days with brands such as Asos, Karen Millen and even Primark selling bridal wear. Make a day out of it and hit your local high street or shopping centre to try on as many as you can until you find 'the one', don't wait for the postman to deliver disappointment."
