Farm Dog Who 'Lied on Her Job Application' Has Internet in Stitches
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A corgi named Tilly has left social media users in stitches after her owner shared a viral video of her fleeing the very animals she was supposed to herd. The hilarious TikTok video shared earlier in July under the username @jakesfunnyfarm, which has received over 264,000 views and 32,600 likes, shows Tilly bolting away from a stampede of sheep, leaving her sister to deal with it. "Tilly may have lied on her job application," the poster writes in the clip. "Tilly was not quite ready for a stampede, but luckily Sadie had her back," she adds in the caption. Corgis are recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) as herding dogs, in fact they were initially bred as cattle herders. They also make good guardian dogs as well as sweet and loving companions. Some of the breeds that make the best herd dogs include most types of shepherd pups such as German shepherd, Australian shepherd, and Belgian Malinois. But many other breeds can also take on this role successfully. Dogs like border collies, which are known for being the smartest canines in the world, Belgian Tervuren, Berger Picard, and bearded collies, among others, are also great options with innate herding skills. Herding breeds are generally high-energy, incredibly intelligent dogs bred to work with livestock. So even when they are not working in the field, they still require a minimum of 60–90 minutes of vigorous daily exercise to avoid destructive behaviors. The best way to channel their instincts and energy constructively, is by engaging in a variety of outdoor activities such as long walks, runs, hikes, bike rides, fetch, tug-of-war, backyard football, and off-leash play in dog parks. Interactive toys, like puzzle feeders and treat dispensers, can also help keep your pup mentally engaged. Training sessions, scent work, trick-learning exercises, treasure hunts, hide-and-seek, and tug-of-war also provide effective mental and physical stimulation. One user, Destiny, commented: "Tilly is just using reverse psychology to get them to come! You go Ms Girl!" H3nryk3ll3r said: "You misunderstood her. She wasn't running was saying follow me this way guys." Rhoda added: "Didn't lie exactly— just added fluff to get the job!! Happens all of the time." The battle to keep London's youth dancing
She also insists that dance doesn't distract from schoolwork, but enhances dedication – everyone snaps to it as soon as the music kicks in. I grab a chat in the corridor with three south Londoners from the SYNC company, all super motivated. Tilly has set up her own dance classes at school to teach fellow pupils; Missy has her sights set on a West End career. Rithiekaa plans to study politics, but believes that since taking part in the Step classes, 'I became much more confident, and public speaking was so much easier for me. I was becoming more of myself –it taught me who I was, and also how I can express that. Dance definitely gives you great leadership skills'

Dachshund's Unexpected Nap Spot Has Internet in Stitches: 'Spoiled'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A dachshund's unique morning ritual which includes snoozing on her owner's shoulder while she brushes her teeth has melted the hearts of viewers on TikTok. The red-shaded dachshund, named Tilly, was captured nestled in her owner's arms, fast asleep as her owner stood at the bathroom sink and brushed her teeth. The short video, posted by Tilly's owner under @leeseslife on July 2, has been watched more than 758,000 times and liked over 203,000 times to date, leaving many viewers in stitches. Tilly's owner, Analeese Hancock, 20, told Newsweek: "My dachshund and I are the best of friends!" Describing her pet as a "velcro-dog," Hancock said Tilly never wants to be far from her. The unexpected viral moment is just one example of their constant closeness. "She never wants to leave my side," Hancock, who is based in North Carolina, added. Analeese Hancock brushes her teeth while her dachshund, Tilly, rests on her shoulder. Analeese Hancock brushes her teeth while her dachshund, Tilly, rests on her shoulder. @leeseslife Viewers were able to see Hancock brushing her teeth with surprising ease while holding a napping Tilly in her arms. At one point, the canine was filmed yawning as she continued to relax against her owner's shoulder. "She's not spoiled but if she wants to take a nap while I brush my teeth (every single morning) I'm going to let her," an overlaid text on the video read. Since the post went viral, the outpouring of affection online has left Hancock and her husband feeling deeply moved. "I'm honestly so overwhelmed, in the best way, by all the love and support on my TikTok," she said. "Reading everyone's sweet and kind comments seriously meant the world to me. I'm feeling so grateful and full of love right now." TikTok users had filled the comments section with laughter and adoration. Several related to the everyday intimacy of pet ownership captured in the clip, noting that routines like these often reflect a deeper emotional bond between people and their animals. "My dachshund thought I was going to leave the house when I sat on my bed putting my leggings on this morning, so he put his little paw on my arm to stop me from dressing," one viewer said. "Girl same," another added. "Tiny intimate moments are the sweetest with dachshunds. They really have the sweetest souls, they live for you." "My sister's puppy sits beside me and rests his head on my leg and closes his eyes with his tail curled around us," another said. "What a little precious baby," another added. "Mom's teeth brushing is soothing to him." Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share? A sweet treat for the weekend, strawberry and rhubarb Victoria sponges
Tilly is a cook, photographer and stylist. Tilly has just released her latest cookbook called 'Handfuls of Sunshine'. The book is all about small cakes, muffins and cupcakes. Today she will be cooking strawberry and rhubarb jam sponges.\ Recipe below: Strawberry & Rhubarb Jam Victoria Sponges I am a total sucker for just about any version of a Victoria sponge. Plain cake, jam and cream – what more could you want? But make them little, individual Victorias and you really have my attention. The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity. These little cakes are made with cream, not butter, in the batter, meaning that you can mix them all in one bowl, by hand. And anything that gets me closer to a cake with less effort is a win in my book! Filling them with whipped yoghurt-cream and homemade jam really does make them sing, but any good jam you are in possession of will do the trick! CAKES Unsalted butter, to grease A little plain (all-purpose) flour, to dust 200 ml (7 fl oz) thick (double) cream 165 g (53/4 oz) caster (superfine) sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste 2 eggs 150 g (51/2 oz) self-raising flour 1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt TO FILL 200 ml (7 fl oz) thickened (whipping) cream 100 g (31/2 oz) Greek-style yoghurt 1 tablespoon icing (confectioners') sugar mixture, plus extra to dust 1 teaspoon rosewater 160 g (51/2 oz) Strawberry & Rhubarb JamPreheat the oven to 160°C (325°F) fan-forced and grease a 6-hole large muffin tin (with 180 ml/53/4 fl oz capacity holes) well with softened butter. I have a tin with straight-sided cups, which looks lovely, but a regular large muffin tin works just as well. Dust the tin with a little plain flour, tapping out any excess. Make the cake batter by placing the cream, sugar and vanilla in a large mixing bowl and using a hand whisk to combine. Do not overmix or the cream will become too stiff. Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking after each addition. Add the self-raising flour and salt to the bowl, and whisk briefly to form a smooth batter. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared tins, smoothing the tops with a spatula and tapping the tins gently on the bench to remove any air bubbles. Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes or until the cakes have risen and are cooked through. Allow the cakes to cool in their tins for 10 minutes before carefully turning them out onto a wire rack to cool completely. When ready to assemble the cakes, make the filling by whipping the cream, yoghurt, sugar and rosewater to soft peaks. Split the cakes in half, and top the bottom halves with a generous scoop of the cream mixture. Use the back of a spoon to create a little nest in the cream, then place a spoonful of jam on top. Gently sandwich the tops of the cakes on and dust liberally with icing sugar. STORE & SHARE These cakes are best served soon after assembling Strawberry & Rhubarb Jam 500 g (1 lb 2 oz) strawberries, hulled and quartered 300 g (101/2 oz) rhubarb, cut into 2 cm (3/4 inch) pieces 440 g (14 oz) caster (superfine) sugar 125 ml (4 fl oz) lemon juice (about 3–4 lemons) 1 vanilla bean, split and seeds scraped or 1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste 2 teaspoons rosewater (optional) Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) fan-forced. Place the strawberries, rhubarb, sugar, lemon juice and vanilla bean seeds and pod (or paste) in a large deep baking tray and mix well, making sure that no dry bits of sugar remain. Spread the fruit out into an even layer and place the tray in the preheated oven to cook for 20 minutes, or until the fruit is bubbling around the edges of the tray. Carefully take the tray out of the oven and mash the fruit with a potato masher or fork. Return the tray to the oven and cook for a further 15–20 minutes. Watch the jam carefully at this point as it can bubble over if it is cooked for too long. When the jam has reduced slightly and is bubbling and fragrant, carefully remove the tray from the oven. Give the jam another little mash, stir in the rosewater (if using), then ladle it into a sterilised jar and seal while hot. STORE & SHAREUnopened jam will keep for up to 3 months in a cool place. Once opened, store in the refrigerator and use within a month.
