Total Weah rejection irked Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest are trying to save face after being rejected by Timothy Weah, implying they pulled out of the deal for the Juventus player. It had been reported in multiple sources over the last few days that Juventus and the Premier League side were on the verge of a double agreement for both Weah and Samuel Mbangula. Advertisement The cost of the pair was going to be circa €25m including add-ons, with the clubs ready to shake hands. However, it quickly became apparent that the American in particular was dead set against the move and refused to even discuss personal terms. This irritated Juve so much that they dropped both the USMNT star and Mbangula from the squad in last night's Club World Cup defeat to Manchester City. Forest set to miss out on Juventus forward Weah
Juventus winger Timothy Weah has reportedly rejected a move to Nottingham Forest, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The 25-year-old was strongly linked with the Premier League club, with talks having advanced. Several sources claimed the clubs had agreed on the terms of the transfer. Advertisement Forest are looking to strengthen their squad as they prepare to compete in the Europa Conference League next season. However, it appears the deal will not go through. Weah has no interest in joining Forest and is not expected to change his mind. Forest must move on from Weah Weah is currently part of the Juventus squad playing at the Club World Cup. He has helped the Serie A club reach the round of 16. The United States international enjoyed a decent season with Juventus in all competitions, recording six goals and three assists. He is keen to improve on those numbers. The winger is expected to remain at the Allianz Stadium unless another offer is made that suits both the club and player. Advertisement Weah joined Juventus from Lille and has continued to develop. While Forest were hopeful of convincing him, they will have to look elsewhere for reinforcements. The two-time European champions need players who are committed to the cause, and Weah clearly does not fit the bill.

Juventus's Americans anger all of Italy with food slur
USA's Juventus pair Weston McKennie and Timothy Weah are facing the wrath of Italy after criticising the nation's famous cuisine. The Americans unwisely agreed in an appearance on a recent podcast that the food since they arrived in Turin 'has no variety'. To dig themselves deeper into trouble when the Serie A season begins, both went on to suggest US restaurants were better. Their comments prompted Emiliano Viviano, the former goalkeeper, to suggest in mock dismay that Italy's Prime Minister should take away their visas. McKennie and Weah were being interviewed for the Juventus Talk With Us podcast when they were asked about the local cuisine since arriving in Serie A. 'You guys don't have variety - it's pasta, pizza, fish, steak,' said McKennie. 'You know what the problem is with Italian food? It's great, it's good specific food that you do very well, but in America if I go to a burger joint or a steakhouse, then I go to another place 10 minutes down the street, I'm still eating a burger, but it's a completely different taste. In Italy, I go to this restaurant and get a pesto pasta, I go 10 minutes down the street and order a pesto pasta, it's the same thing.' Weah agreed he 'prefers Italian-American food' to the real thing. The comments sparked inevitable outrage in Italy, with former Arsenal, Palermo, Fiorentina and Sampdoria goalkeeper Viviano telling TV Play: 'The United States is the country with the worst food in the world. They would even deep-fry the soles of their shoes. If I was (Italian Prime Minister Giorgia) Meloni, I wouldn't let him back into Italy! 'How can you say there's no variety in Italian cuisine? His very definition of 'variety' irritated me. McKennie, there are 200 million of you Americans and all you ever eat are hamburgers. 'The truth is, all the food in America was brought there by other nations. I just want to tell McKennie that he has achieved the incredible feat of managing to unite all of Italy against him. It is not about fans anymore, he can be insulted by absolutely everybody.' According to the Football Italia website, McKennie's food choices had already shocked Juventus team-mates, as they were 'famously horrified when he suggested cookies and brownies in pasta' or 'ranch dressing on pizza'. 'Most recently, he proclaimed his special recipe of 'pasta with pesto, tomato and chicken,' the website adds. Juventus are currently competing at the Club World Cup and are leading Group G ahead of a showdown with Manchester City on Thursday.

Nottingham Forest target £20m double swoop of Juventus wingers after club REJECTED £45m bid from Newcastle for ex-Man United star
Nottingham Forest hope to seal a cut-price deal for Juventus wingers Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula amid continued interest from Newcastle in Anthony Elanga. With Newcastle pushing for Elanga and able to offer Champions League football, Forest may need reinforcements in wide areas and believe they can sign both Mbangula and Weah for less than £20m combined. The relatively low price is thought to be due to Juventus' need to raise funds to rebuild their squad, with former Tottenham and Liverpool chief Damien Comolli now in charge of transfers. Forest are likely to sell at least one key player this summer and with Manchester City appearing to have cooled their interest in Morgan Gibbs-White, Newcastle believe they have a chance of landing Elanga this summer. The former Manchester United winger is valued at about £60m. Meanwhile, Neco Williams is set to sign a new four-year deal at the City Ground, elevating him closer to the top pay bracket at the club. Forest also hope to agree a deal for Brazilian forward Igor Jesus once his club, Botafogo, have completed their Club World Cup campaign. They face fellow Brazilian side Palmeiras in the last 16.

Nottingham Forest make £20m move for Juventus duo
Nottingham Forest have moved for Juventus pair Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula in a proposed £20 million double deal. Forest have made an offer to sign both players from the Serie A heavyweights and while there is still work to be done, there is confidence a deal can be agreed as Nuno Espirito Santo continues to build his squad ahead of next season. Weah, 25, is a United States international midfielder while Mbangula, 21, is a winger who has been capped at Belgium's junior levels up to the under-21s. Juventus are under pressure to make sales this summer after reporting significant financial losses of over £300 million in the past two years. Forest have made their move and while the double deal is at an early stage, with personal terms yet to be agreed, talks will continue in the next few days. Nuno is keen to make a number of new signings this summer as the club prepare for their return to European football for the first time in 30 years. Botafogo's Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha are both expected to sign after the Brazilian club's involvement in the Club World Cup. Forest are also hopeful of confirming new contracts for key full-backs Ola Aina and Neco Williams in the near future. Nuno signed a new three-year contract over the weekend after being rewarded by owner Evangelos Marinakis for his outstanding work last season. 'Now is the time to work harder than ever as we strive for more special memories together,' he said at the time. Forest challenged for a place in the Champions League before a late stumble ended with a creditable finish of seventh. Meanwhile, Forest's opening game of the season against Brentford has been put back to Sunday Aug 17. Forest requested the fixture amendment as the initial date of the game at the City Ground clashes with Nottinghamshire's Hundred match at Trent Bridge.
