The Delhi High Court has issued an order restraining several individuals and entities from misusing Reliance Retail's 'Tira' trademark, after the reports of impersonation and financial fraud. In May 2025, Reliance discovered a scam in which fraudsters posed as Tira representatives through WhatsApp and phone calls who also used fake IDs and promotional offers to cheat with customers into making duplicate UPI payments, reported Bar and Bench. Reliance Retail's 'Tira' Mark Misused Justice Saurabh Banerjee passed the ex parte ad-interim injunction on July 7, 2025, in a trademark case filed by Reliance Retail. The Court stated that the scam was found in a pan-India character, wherein 8,919 consumer complaints were registered in two months where in 666 were from in Delhi alone. Reliance Retail's Stand Against Scam Senior Advocate Sandeep Sethi, represented Reliance Retail by submitting that its beauty and personal care brand Tira was launched in April 2023 and has acquired substantial goodwill. In May 2025, Reliance found a large-scale scam involving unidentified individuals impersonating Tira representatives through WhatsApp and phone calls. According to the company, the fraudsters used fake ID cards, bogus promotional offers, and false claims of failed transactions or order issues to trick customers into making duplicate payments via UPI and QR codes. The Court noted that the scam was being executed in a premeditated and coordinated manner using multiple rogue mobile numbers and fake digital identities. ' The manner of execution of the aforesaid financial scam… carries the potential of significant harm and detriment,' the Court said. It also observed that the use of marks identical to that of Tira created confusion and deception among consumers. The Court directed that Defendant No.1 (impersonators) and all associated persons are restrained from using the Tira trademark and its variants, including deceptively similar marks.

The Delhi High Court has restrained various persons and entities from illicitly using Reliance Retail Limited's Tira trademark. The ruling on July 7, 2025, came in response to a trademark case filed by Reliance Retail, alleging that these entities had carried out large-scale impersonation and financial fraud targeting customers of the brand. Reliance Retail submitted that it holds registered trademarks for its famous beauty and personal care brand, Tira, which was launched in April 2023, Bar and Bench reported. The retail giant became aware of a widespread scam in May 2025, in which anonymous individuals were illegally acting as Tira representatives. These fraudsters used WhatsApp and phone calls, employing fake identity cards. They often used the excuse of promotional offers or order issues, and false claims of failed transactions to trick customers into making duplicate payments through UPI and QR codes. The court was presented with alarming figures, revealing the extensive reach of the fraudsters. It was informed that over 8,900 complaints had been registered over the span of two months, including 666 in Delhi alone. The other complainants are from various cities, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, and Jaipur, who incurred an estimated total loss of over ₹ 41 lakh. The scam was being executed in a premeditated and coordinated manner using multiple mobile numbers and fake digital identities, as per the report. The court also noted that the use of fake Tira marks to deceive consumers created immense confusion. In order to protect consumers from digital fraud, the Delhi High Court issued the following directions: Restraint on impersonators: All people associated with the scam are restrained from using the Tira trademark and its variants, including deceptively similar marks. trademark and its variants, including deceptively similar marks. Action against fake numbers: Telecom Service Providers must block and suspend mobile numbers used to carry out the fraud and submit subscriber details of the owners. Blocking of WhatsApp account: The accounts associated with the rogue numbers shall be blocked and the basic subscriber information of the owners must be disclosed. Blocking fraudulent UPI/QR codes: The National Payments Corporation of India must block payment portals linked to the fraud and disclose account holder information. Future compliance: These entities must act against future fake numbers/ accounts notified by Reliance. Government oversight: The Department of Telecommunications and the Union Ministry of Electronics, Information and Technology are directed to ensure compliance by relevant intermediaries. The case is scheduled for its next hearing on November 6, 2025.

Along with this, the company is now set to launch a new facial fitness and skincare brand in India, bringing innovative beauty and wellness services to Indian customers. In a joint statement, the two companies said that Tira, Reliance Retail's beauty chain, will steer FACEGYM's launch in India. Reliance brings UK's FaceGym to India with stake buy
MUMBAI: Reliance Retail Ventures announced on Thursday that it will buy a minority stake in UK-based FaceGym. This equity investment will bring FaceGym into India. It did not disclose financial details. FaceGym, a facial workout brand, was founded by former Financial Times journalist Inge Theron, with the first outlet opening in Selfridges, London, in 2014. Over five years, Reliance will establish FaceGym's presence in India through a combination of standalone studios and curated spaces within select Tira stores. Reliance Retail Ventures, which houses grocery, consumer electronics, pharma, and fashion outlets, made an operating profit of Rs 25,053 crore on a turnover of Rs 3.3 lakh crore during FY25. "FaceGym sits at the unique intersection of beauty, wellness, and fitness, creating a category of its own. This aligns perfectly with the discerning beauty consumer in India who is experience-oriented and increasingly drawn to science-backed, innovative concepts," said Tira co-founder Bhakti Modi.
