Young athletes to be inspired and supported at Windsor's first SPARK Camp
Young athletes are set to be welcomed on July 12 and July 13 for Windsor's first-ever SPARK Camp. The camp will take place at the Toldo Lancer Centre.
It will be led by Dominic and Theo Johnson, training young athletes to focus on mental wellness, financial literacy, and career transitions. SPARK stands for Support, Purpose, Alignment, Resilience, and Knowledge.
'This camp is deeply personal to us,' said Dominic Johnson, a former NCAA Division I athlete and SPARK Camp organizer.
'We've lived through the struggles many athletes face off the field – mental health challenges, financial stress, and the identity shift after sports. SPARK was created to tackle those issues head-on and empower the next generation.'
Theo Johnson currently plays for the New York Giants. He will come back to Windsor to help lead the camp.
In order to keep the camp accessible, the brothers hope to raise money for it, offering scholarships for those who can't afford to attend, covering the costs for travel, meals, equipment, and mental health support.
'This isn't about football – it's about giving young athletes the tools to succeed long after the game ends,' said Dominic.
'We're building a community of leaders and equipping them to face life's biggest challenges.
