Roseanne Barr Says the Daughter She Placed for Adoption Initially Thought Her Biological Mom Was Goldie Hawn

The daughter that Roseanne Barr placed for adoption when she was 18 initially thought her biological mom was Goldie Hawn for nearly her entire childhood due to their resemblance The daughter, Brandi Brown, learned the truth after Barr's ex Tom Arnold leaked information to the National Enquirer, Barr claimed Barr said she and Brown met shortly after the leak, and have "been back together" ever sinceFor almost her entire childhood, the daughter that Roseanne Barr placed for adoption thought her biological mom was Goldie Hawn. At 17, she learned the truth — after Barr's former boyfriend leaked information to the press. During the June 23 episode of Bunnie XO's podcast, Dumb Blonde, the actress and comedian, 72, recalled the story of the child — Brandi Brown, now 53 — who she placed for adoption when she was 18. Barr, who was living in Denver at the time, told Bunnie that she 'got to have' Brown for a week before placing her for adoption. 'I told her when they came to get her, 'Well, I'll see you when you're 18.' I knew,' the actress said, adding that she 'always knew that we'd find each other when she was 18.' Until that day came, however, Barr said Brown thought her biological mom was the Overboard star. It was an assumption based on her resemblance to Hawn, 79, and the few pieces of information she had to go on. 'All she knew was that her mother was famous in Hollywood, and Jewish,' Barr said. 'And so she thought it was Goldie Hawn, was her mom, because she looked just like Goldie Hawn.' 'I was on TV, and that's how they found me,' Barr claimed, referring to the National Enquirer. "My boyfriend at the time [Tom Arnold], I found out way later, he went to the Enquirer and told them that I had a baby that I gave up." According to Barr, the tabloid magazine contacted her first, and told her they were going to run a story about Brown 'whether you want us to or not." The outlet allegedly wanted to photograph the mother-daughter duo meeting for the first time, but Barr declined. Shortly after, the publication spilled the beans. "The Enquirer called her, and she answered the phone, my daughter, and they said, 'Would you like to know who your mother is?' And she's all excited thinking it's going to be Goldie Hawn," Barr recalled. "And they go, 'It's Roseanne Barr.' And her words — so hilarious — she goes, 'Christ, I didn't even know she was a Jew,' which is so hilarious.' 'And she was mad too, 'cause I was fat and everything,' the actress claimed. But after looking at a photo of Barr, Brown quickly saw the resemblance between them, according to the comedian. 'She goes, 'Oh my god, I do look just like her.' And she took the picture to the mirror,' Barr said. 'And she just kept looking and going, 'I do, I look exactly like her.' ' They 'met, and it was wonderful,' the actress said. 'So we've been back together since then, and she is now 53. And she is awesome.' 'She has a son, and a lovely husband,' Barr added of Brown. 'She's a wonderful woman.' 'A tabloid called to tell me, 'We found your daughter.' I was stunned,' she said at the time. 'They had gotten hold of the birth certificate of the baby girl I bore out of wedlock and gave up for adoption after nine days in Denver when I was 18." At the time, Barr also told PEOPLE she felt "pissed off" at the Enquirer at first, but in a new documentary Roseanne Is America, she said she no longer feels any ill will toward the magazine. "Am I upset about it?' she said in the documentary. 'No. I'm grateful." Read the original article on People

Legendary Sitcom Actress, 72, Reveals Alleged Actor Who Tipped off Tabloid About Daughter She Put up for Adoption

Legendary Sitcom Actress, 72, Reveals Alleged Actor Who Tipped off Tabloid About Daughter She Put up for Adoption originally appeared on Parade. Love her or hate her, Roseanne Barr, 72, forever change television history with the sitcom after her own namesake. The sitcom that originally aired on ABC lasted for nine seasons by the time it was ended in 1997 and was brought back for a 10th season reboot in 2017. In 2018, the show was abruptly cancelled after the actress shared a racist tweet but was revived as The Conners later that year. Since then Barr has appeared on several podcasts to give her unfiltered opinion on whatever subject is at hand. Most recently she appeared on Bunnie Xo's podcast Dumb Blonde, and talked about the story of giving up her first daughter for adoption when she was recounted that she intended for her daughter to find her one day, intentionally keeping her name as she rose to fame and knew what family she was placed in. She said that while her daughter didn't know Barr was her mother, she did know her birth mom was famous and in Hollywood (and for the longest time suspected it was Goldie Hawn, 79). She then said she got a call from National Enquirer, telling her they were going to run the story of the daughter she gave up for adoption. When she asked how they found this out, the reporter allegedly kept it under wraps on who their source was, but she claimed to eventually figure out who told them. "Who found her was the National Enquirer, because my boyfriend at the time, I found out way later, he went to the Enquirer and told him that I had a baby that I gave up." When Bunnie asked if it was the father of the baby, Barr answered without hesitation: "No, Tom Arnold. Yeah, he's making a living off telling stories about me, which I didn't know at the time." Barr went on to talk about how that tabloid incident ended up reuniting the two, and they now have a healthy relationship. However fans were not letting the alleged Tom Arnold, 66, revelation slip. "Tom Arnold was the biggest mistake she ever made," claimed one fan. "Dropping a dime on Tom Arnold is hilarious," added another. Barr and Arnold first met when she saw his act in 1983. The two's relationship was officially cemented in 1990 with their marriage, but divorce followed just four years later. Since then the two have publicly swiped at one another. Ultimately though, Barr is grateful for the tabloid reuniting her with her daughter. After getting the call from the tabloid at 17 years old, a year before Barr had intended to find her, she flew out out to meet her along with her adoptive mother. "...we met and it was wonderful," she explained to Bunnie. "So we've been back together since then, and she is now 53. She is awesome. She has a son and a lovely husband, and she's a wonderful woman." 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 Legendary Sitcom Actress, 72, Reveals Alleged Actor Who Tipped off Tabloid About Daughter She Put up for Adoption first appeared on Parade on Jun 23, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jun 23, 2025, where it first appeared.
