‘KPop Demon Hunters' Director Thought About A Live-Action Version

KPOP DEMON HUNTERS - When they aren't selling out stadiums, Kpop superstars Rumi, Mira and Zoey use ... More their secret identities as badass demon hunters to protect their fans from an ever-present supernatural threat. Together, they must face their biggest enemy yet – an irresistible rival boy band of demons in disguise. ©2025 Netflix Since its release last week, Netflix's KPop Demon Hunters has reached No. 1 in 26 countries and the Top 10 in 93 countries. Critics and fans have praised the animated feature, directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, with a 96% Rotten Tomatoes score. The soundtrack has also generated buzz, hitting No. 1 on the iTunes Top Album and K-Pop Charts, as well as the Apple Music Pop and K-Pop Album Charts. The film centers on Huntrix, a K-pop girl group who are secretly demon hunters sworn to protect their fans from supernatural threats. One of the hunters, Rumi (Arden Cho), has demon blood running in her veins, as we find out that her Hunter mother had a relationship with her Demon father. The circumstances of their relationship are never disclosed. Celine, a former Hunter and Rumi's guardian, avoided talking about Rumi's parentage, disregarding her demon side. Rumi – and the audience – are never given answers about her past. Though Netflix hasn't announced if there will be a sequel, Kang says there's more to the story they wanted to tell – especially when it came to Rumi's heritage as part Hunter and part Demon, and the reason behind Celine's aversion towards demons. KPOP DEMON HUNTERS - Celine (voice by YUNJIN KIM). ©2025 Netflix 'There are different versions [of Rumi's story],' says Kang. Ultimately, we felt like that whole part of the story didn't need to be told here. It was a tricky thing with the story. There are so many questions that are left unanswered.' Some scenes were cut that answered these questions, but it didn't feel like they belonged, as they changed the overall story. There's so much they wanted to add – Rumi's parentage, Celine's background, and the mythology behind Derpy the tiger and Sussie the six-eyed bird. '[Derpy and Sussie] live between these two worlds,' Kang reveals. It's not a Demon. It's not a Hunter, obviously. So, what is it? There's a lot of mysteries and question marks that even I have thought about what that could be. We're definitely thinking about that stuff.' KPOP DEMON HUNTERS - (Right) Rumi (voice by ARDEN CHO). ©2025 Netflix The KPop Demon Hunters creatives, crew, and actors all expressed their interest in a sequel. Kang has many more ideas for her characters and the story. After finishing her film, she did think about a live-action version of the animated film. After watching the new live-action How To Train Your Dragon movie, she mentioned that director Dean DeBlois, who directed the original animated films, did a wonderful job. She thought what it would be like to have a live-action KPop Demon Hunters. She understands that comes with its own challenges. 'I really enjoyed [How To Train Your Dragon],' says Kang. I was sitting in the theater thinking, I wonder if anybody would want to see a live-action KPop Demon Hunters. What would that be like? How would that go?' Until then, Kang is enjoying the response to the film and the music. She's so proud to see a Korean story resonate with everyone. 'I had so many crew members [and people] tell me how much this movie meant to them – and they weren't even Korean,' says Kang. 'They loved learning about our culture and being part of something different. [People have told me], 'I'm watching more K-dramas,' and 'I'm going to Korea,' or 'I'm taking K-pop dance lessons.' It was just so amazing as a director to see people love this movie and fall in love with the culture. I really appreciated the studios for taking a risk on something that is a full Asian cast, too. I couldn't have believed we could make this. It's very surreal.' KPop Demon Hunters is streaming now on Netflix.

Medvedev outlasts Zverev to reach Halle final

June 21 (Reuters) - Daniil Medvedev reached his first ATP Tour final for 15 months as he outlasted Germany's world number three Alexander Zverev 7-6(3) 6-7(1) 6-4 at the Halle Open on Saturday. The Russian former world number one could have spared himself some overtime had he not let three match points slip in the second set, but he eventually got the job done in just under three hours. "I am happy with my level, I played great," Medvedev said. "I would have loved to finish on the match points (in the second set). The first one I went for it and missed it. The second one I went a bit slower to wait for a mistake and he made a great point. I am happy to win in the end." Medvedev, who now has a 13-7 career record against Zverev, will play either Alexander Bublik or Karen Khachanov in Sunday's final where he will seek his 21st Tour-level title. He needed treatment for a nosebleed at 4-4 in an intense first set but was gifted the first-set tiebreaker as Zverev offered up a clutch of unforced errors. Zverev was broken at the start of the second set but clawed his way back and then saved three match points when serving at 5-6 before holding serve in an extended 12th game to set up a tiebreak in which he played some precise tennis. Medvedev quickly regrouped though and was the dominant player in the decider. Whatever the outcome of the final, he will return to the world's top 10 on Monday.

'American Idol's Slater Nalley Reveals When We Could Next See Another Original Song (Exclusive)

Slater Nalley touched hearts when he auditioned for American Idol with an original song that he wrote about his high school teacher Ms. Davis's late son Carter, who was a source of inspiration for him. He followed that with a second original song for Arena performances, 'Foolish Pride." But due to theme nights like 'Rock & Roll Hall of Fame,' 'Iconic Idol Moments' and the upcoming 'Ladies Night,' it's been cover songs ever since. 'I did two original songs, and I have wanted to do one since. But at the end of the day, we have to go off what they send us,' Slater told Parade. He's looking at the upcoming Mother's Day show (May 11) as the next opportunity to do another original. It's not that he doesn't have a lot of original songs in his repertoire, but he says he has to 'feel it' to want to sing it. So let's hope that happens soon! In the meantime, he's thrilled that America is liking his music and voted him into the Top 10. 🎬 🎬 'You've got a lot of really talented people around here,' the 17-year-old from Atlanta, GA, says. 'Everybody's more talented than the next. I've never been in a situation where I can't tell who's the most talented, because everybody here is just equally talented, and it's going to be really hard for America to vote. But hearing that I got put into the Top 10, America's pick, was one of the coolest moments. I was really happy to hear the news that people are enjoying my music. At the end of the day, that's what I've always wanted.' Something else that Slater is enjoying, in addition to all the new friends he's made, is working with professionals like Jelly Roll, this season's artist-in-residence, and with the behind-the-scenes Idol vocal coaches, who have taught Slater new approaches to his music. 'They help me arrange songs in ways I never thought I could,' he says. ''Somewhere Over the Rainbow' was actually my arrangement. But I was really excited to see and hear that I can take a song, not just a textbook song, and I can move it around how I want it to be sounding.' Related: Slater is also doing that with the outfits that he dons to take the stage. Once he made it to the live rounds, he was given a budget to select his wardrobe. 'I am a Georgia boy through and through,' he says about his onstage style. 'I grew up going hunting and fishing and also going into the city a little bit and all that. So, being able to show my artistry has never really been something I've been able to confidently do, and now that I have this platform, I can show the style that I've wanted to do my whole life. Funny different boots and things that'll make me feel something special." Related: There's only three more weeks until the American Idol 2025 finale. And there's a good chance that Slater will be around most of that time, so he will have to live with his missing home until the end. 'I'm enjoying every minute of it, though,' he says. 'I'm so happy to be here. I'm happy to be able to share my music with everybody, and the response has been great from everybody, so it's been cool to see that.' American Idol airs Sunday and Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Streams next day on Hulu. Next, Make Your Vote Count! How to Vote Online or By Text on 2025

What the billion-dollar Boston-based technology company said about its Indian-American CEO caught in prostitution scandal

Anurag Bajpayee Anurag Bajpayee , CEO and co-founder of Gradiant Technology , a billion-dollar water technology company, has been arrested in a high-profile US investigation involving high-end brothels allegedly linked to sex trafficking. The case has shocked both the tech industry and academic circles, given Bajpayee's credentials as an MIT-trained engineer and entrepreneur. The Indian-American technologist, engineer, and entrepreneur co-founded Gradiant in 2013, a global water technology company now valued at over $1 billion. What Gradiant Technology said on CEO Anurag Bajpayee's arrest The company has defended Anurag Bajpayee, while reiterating a muddled promise of excellence in public remarks amid controversy. Gradiant has asserted that it is placing trust in the judicial process — and its own company. 'We believe in the justice system and are confident that this will resolve favorably in due course,' said Gradiant representative Felix Wang in a statement to Wall Street Journal. 'Unrelated to this, Gradiant will continue to pursue excellence in technological innovation and to strive towards our mission to ensure clean water for all society.' Dozens of men, Bajpayee included, were named in court documents last month, accusing them all of paying hundreds of dollars per hour for sex and a 'girlfriend experience' with predominantly Asian women being exploited through sex trafficking, the Wall Street Journal reported. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Highest Earning College Majors—2025 Edition Best Paying Degrees | Search Ads Learn More Undo What are charge charges against Anurag Bajpayee According to U.S. federal prosecutors, the women involved were mostly Asian, and some may have been victims of trafficking and coercion. Clients paid between $250 and $600 per hour for what was described as 'escort-level girlfriend experiences.' Investigators allege that Bajpayee visited these establishments multiple times and was recorded communicating with the operators. The charges against him are misdemeanors, but the wider investigation remains ongoing. Federal officials are examining the potential for related charges, including links to trafficking or racketeering. Qualys expands TotalAI to boost AI security from development onwards

Qualys has announced significant updates to its TotalAI platform, expanding AI and large language model (LLM) security coverage for organisations from development through to deployment. The enhancements are designed to address the rapid pace of AI adoption in business, which often outpaces the implementation of necessary security controls. Citing a recent study where 72% of CISOs expressed concerns that generative AI solutions could cause security breaches within their organisations, Qualys aims to provide tools to help bridge the gap between innovation and secure implementation. Summarising the need for integrated security in AI operations, Tyler Shields, Principal Analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, said, "As AI becomes a core component of business innovation, security can no longer be an afterthought. Qualys TotalAI ensures that only trusted, vetted models are deployed into production, enabling both agility and assurance across organisations' AI usage." "This security helps organisations achieve their innovation goals while managing their risk." TotalAI has been updated to test models for jailbreak vulnerabilities, bias, sensitive information exposure, and critical risks mapped to standards such as the OWASP Top 10 for LLMs. The platform also supports enterprise teams in resolving exposures, protecting operational resilience, and maintaining brand trust. Among the new features is automatic prioritisation of AI security risks, with findings mapped to real-world adversarial tactics using MITRE ATLAS and prioritised by the TruRisk scoring engine. This allows teams across security, IT, and MLOps to focus on the most business-critical risks within their AI operations. The release also includes an on-premises internal LLM scanner to support security testing during development, staging, and deployment. This capability enables security and testing of AI-powered applications to be integrated into existing CI/CD workflows, ensuring that models remain protected behind corporate firewalls and are not exposed externally at any stage during their lifecycle. TotalAI's expanded threat coverage now includes detection of 40 distinct attack scenarios. These cover advanced jailbreak techniques, prompt injections, manipulations, multilingual exploits, and bias amplification. The platform simulates real-world adversarial tactics to increase model resilience against exploitation and better protect against attackers attempting to manipulate AI outputs or bypass model safeguards. Another area of focus is protection against cross-modal exploits, with enhanced multimodal detection identifying prompts or perturbations hidden inside images, audio, and video files that may be used to manipulate LLM outputs. This aims to address potential vulnerabilities introduced by the use of different data modalities in AI systems. Sumedh Thakar, President and CEO of Qualys, spoke about the increasing complexity and risk accompanying AI adoption in business, stating, "AI is reshaping how businesses operate, but with that innovation comes new and complex risks." "TotalAI delivers the visibility, intelligence, and automation required to stay agile and secure, protecting AI workloads at every stage — from development through deployment. We are proud to lead the way with the industry's most comprehensive solution, helping businesses innovate with confidence, while staying ahead of emerging AI threats." Qualys has stated that TotalAI is built for the realities of AI risk, offering more than just infrastructure assessments by directly testing models for a range of vulnerabilities and threats relevant to contemporary AI deployments.
