Topshop is relaunching with a top London supermodel as the new face of campaign
Topshop have named model Cara Delevingne as the face of their new relaunch. The collaboration will reflect her London roots and the connection she has had with the brand for many years With many eagerly awaiting the return of Topshop, it looks like the wait is nearly over. While the brand has been exclusively at ASOS for a while now, it's largely been tucked away among the 800-plus labels they carry. But now, Topshop is stepping forward to reclaim its fashion-forward spirit, bringing a fresh energy with global style icon Cara Delevingne as the face of its relaunch. From the late '90s through the 2000s, Topshop wasn't just a store - it was a destination. It was a place where youth, style and identity collided. But after its parent company went into administration, it disappeared high streets across the United Kingdom and beyond. Now, recognising the gap it left behind, Topshop is returning with a curated 30-piece edit that captures the shared aesthetic of both Cara and the brand. The edit aims to be confident, individual and distinctly modern. Cara, chosen for her long-standing connection to the brand and as a born-and-bred Londoner, said: 'As a London girl, Topshop was the place where fashion felt fun, fearless, and full of possibilities. Coming back to Topshop now is more than a return – it's about starting something new. This collection is about owning your style, your story, and feeling empowered to express that every day.' The collection channels Cara's signature London edge - effortless yet elevated, with sharp tailoring, statement outerwear and reimagined denim staples. A monochrome palette runs through the edit, punctuated by hits of rich avocado green to give it a fresh seasonal feel. The team at Topshop described the collaboration as more than just a campaign, saying: 'It's a statement of intent as we reintroduce Topshop to the world. We're bringing together cultural relevance, design credibility, and a new energy that speaks to how people want to dress today.' Topshop's Managing Director, Michelle Wilson added that the model's involvement with the relaunch harmonised with everything Topshop is as a band. She said: 'Cara is the perfect embodiment of the Topshop spirit - bold, creative, and unapologetically herself.' she added The edit launches on on 16th August, featuring standout pieces like a bold black-and-white faux shearling coat, a cinched '80s-inspired PU jacket, and updated takes on cult-favourite denim fits like the Joni and Jamie jeans. Balancing structure and softness, the collection pairs strong silhouettes with fluid fabrics offering fashion that feels just as empowering as it looks. And this is just the beginning - Topshop and Cara have already started developing a full capsule collection for the 2026/2027 season, with a shared focus on quality materials and considered design. Topshop returns to Ireland
TOPSHOP is officially returning to the Irish high street next month, with its first new physical location opening in Ballybofey, Co. Donegal. McElhinneys, the largest department store outside of Dublin, announced that it will be home to the first Topshop store in Ireland since the brand's physical locations shut down five years ago. The move marks a major milestone not only for the global fashion label but also for McElhinneys, which has spent the last several months in discussions with Topshop's new ownership. 'It all started happening around January,' said Sandra Devenney, general manager at McElhinneys. 'There have been lots of overs and backs with meetings in London and getting down to the nitty-gritty.' She added that being chosen as Topshop's Irish launch partner is a proud moment for the Donegal retailer. 'We may be in Donegal, but we work very hard and are known around the country, so for us to get Topshop is just another thing for us to be excited about in the future.' Topshop's return to physical retail comes after years of uncertainty. In 2021, online fashion giant ASOS purchased Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge, and HIIT from the collapsed Arcadia Group in a €300 million deal. At the time, Topshop's operations shifted entirely online, with its collections sold through ASOS and in Nordstrom stores in the United States. In 2023, ASOS sold a 75% stake in Topshop to Danish fashion group Bestseller, paving the way for a return to high street locations. Now, that return is becoming a reality. The Ballybofey store will open on August 21, with additional Topshop locations launching in Printemps department stores in France and Magasin du Nord in Denmark. A Topshop spokesperson confirmed the move, saying, 'We're delighted to confirm we will stock in a range of partners across Europe and the rest of the world territories, including Printemps, Magasin, and McElhinneys.' Topshop's managing director Michelle Wilson said she is looking forward to the relaunch. 'I'm excited to see Topshop back in person. I think the partner that we are collaborating with is an incredible partner. I think it will surprise a few people.' Topshop's last major Irish location, its flagship store on St Stephen's Green in Dublin, closed in 2019. For many shoppers, the brand's disappearance marked the end of an era. Topshop to launch Cara Delevingne collab, names key French, Danish stores as relaunch stockists
Topshop has been gradually releasing information linked to its full-scale comeback this year and the latest news this week is that two major European names will stock the now-online-only label in their physical stores. Reports said both France's Printemps and Denmark's Magasin du Nord (which used to be owned by Debenhams) will carry the relaunched brand. And in Ireland, department store McElhinneys will also be a stockist. On Tuesday, the retailer's Instagram page also showed a picture of supermodel-turned-actress Cara Delevingne with the words: 'Introducing Cara Delevingne. A bold new era begins. Sign up at to be the first to know about the launch.' That was the first hint of the fact that the brand is in mid-August launching a curated 30-piece edit in a collab with Delevingne in to kick off its high-profile comeback. It's a fitting link-up given her first appearance in a Topshop campaign was in 2010 with the model later being the solo face of the brand's AW14 campaign. Delevingne said: 'As a London girl, Topshop was the place where fashion felt fun, fearless, and full of possibilities. Coming back to Topshop now is more than a return – it's about starting something new. This collection is about owning your style, your story, and feeling empowered to express that every day.' As for the stockist news, it's known that it will be available in other European locations as well as stores beyond the continent but their names haven't yet been revealed, although the brand is already available at Nordstrom in the US through an earlier deal. There's also expected to be a single wholesale partner for the UK that will see the label available in UK physical locations in its home market again. Topshop and sibling brand Topman were part of the failed Arcadia Group and were bought by e-tail giant ASOS post-pandemic in early 2021 when Arcadia was broken up. ASOS took them online-only and later relaunched them. But ASOS's own problems got in the way of a full-on comeback and this year control of the business was acquired by Heartland. The holding company of the family behind Denmark's Bestseller deepened its close links with ASOS (it already has a major stake in the company) buying 75% of Topshop/Topman for £135 million, with ASOS retaining the minority stake and distribution rights. The plan is for a big relaunch of the two labels with teasers building up to this including a one-day London pop-up in May, a gamified teaser campaign and 'coming soon' holding pages for a new webstore. There will also be a major Topshop/Topman runway show for AW25 in London next month.

Topshop returning to high street in Donegal department store
Topshop is returning to the high street in a partnership with one of the Republic of Ireland's best known department stores. McElhinney's in Ballybofey, County Donegal, is to begin selling Topshop's clothing range next month. It will be the first time that Topshop clothes will be sold in a physical store since it moved solely into the online retail space. In 2021, Topshop was one of four brands acquired by online fashion group Asos from failed retail group Arcadia. McElhinney's general manager Sandra Devenney told BBC News NI shoppers can expect "the Topshop that we all knew and loved and have missed". "We are really optimistic and very excited about this." McElhinney's will be the first store to sell Topshop clothes as part of its high street relaunch. Its return to bricks and mortar retail will also see the brand partnering with stockists in Denmark and France later in 2025. Topshop, Ms Devenney said, is an iconic brand, and a perfect fit for the Donegal store. "We have an exceptionally dynamic team and are always looking to the future while, as one of the now very few independent family run stores in Europe, maintaining our heritage," she said. Is Topshop returning to the UK high street? Topshop has been teasing a return to high streets in the UK over recent weeks. Last month its managing director Michelle Wilson told industry magazine Drapers that Topshop is planning to be back on the UK high street by the autumn of 2025. In a post on social media on Tuesday, the company revealed actress and model Cara Delevingne as "the new face of Topshop", adding a "bold new era begins." Fashion blogger Denise Curran is excited for its return. "You were bang on trend if you were shopping in Topshop," Denise from County Armagh told BBC News NI. "I can't wait to see what their styles will be like." She said it was to the Donegal store's huge credit that they have partnered with Topshop and will definitely be making the trip down. "Well done to McElhinneys, it's amazing to see. "A lot of people obviously travel to Donegal on their holidays so it's a great location for people to actually plop on a map and say I want to go there." Topshop first opened in Sheffield in 1964 and at its peak had about 300 stores in the UK and Ireland, including 14 in Northern Ireland and a further six in the Republic. Asos bought the Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge and HIIT brands, but not the shops, after Arcadia went into administration in 2020. In 2024 Danish company Bestseller bought 75% of Asos' stake in Topshop. BBC News NI has approached Topshop for comment. Thousands of jobs at risk after Asos Arcadia deal A brief history of Topshop
