Toyota is NZ's most reputable company again

Toyota New Zealand has claimed the top spot in the annual Kantar Corporate Reputation Index. This cements its place as the most reputable company in the country for a second consecutive year. It also follows Toyota winning the Reader's Digest 'Most Trusted Car Brand' in New Zealand for the 20th consecutive year. The Kantar Corporate Reputation Index, now in its 11th year, measures consumer perceptions of New Zealand's top 50 companies, addressing trust, leadership, fairness, and responsibility. Among the top 10 companies, Toyota led in the Trust and Leadership pillars and ranked among the top performers in Fairness and Responsibility. Tatsuya Ishikawa (front) with other members of the TNZ management team. Toyota New Zealand Chief Executive, Tatsuya Ishikawa, says the recognition reflects both the strength of the Toyota team and the trust customers place in the brand. 'Toyota is a brand for all New Zealanders. Every day, we work hard to earn their trust, in every interaction we have with them. 'Our ambition has always been to be more than just a car company. We want to be a trusted partner in our customers' lives and a responsible contributor to New Zealand's future. 'Toyota Stores don't just invest in their businesses; they also invest in the communities they're part of. We recognise their efforts through our annual Citizenship Awards. We complement this local impact with national initiatives that support safer roads and stronger communities across New Zealand.' Tatsuya Ishikawa continues: 'At our core, we're a mobility company but it's the strength of our relationship with customers that drives our success. That relationship doesn't begin and end with a purchase. We work hard to anticipate needs, resolve issues quickly, and deliver a seamless experience at every stage. How we look after our customers after a purchase is so important to us. While things won't always go to plan, being truly customer-focused means taking responsibility and putting things right quickly, and with care. 'We're focused on helping communities thrive, not just through economic investment but by shaping a more sustainable future. That means continuing to electrify our fleet, reducing emissions, and staying on track to meet our goal of net-zero carbon by 2050,' says Tatsuya Ishikawa. 'At Toyota, we embrace the philosophy of kaizen, a commitment to continuous improvement. It's a simple idea, but a powerful one. We believe reputation is earned one decision, one relationship, one interaction at a time.'

Toyota Named New Zealand's Most Reputable Company For The Second Year Running

Toyota New Zealand has once again claimed the top spot in the annual Kantar Corporate Reputation Index, cementing its place as the most reputable company in the country for a second consecutive year. The Index, now in its 11th year, measures consumer perceptions of New Zealand's top 50 companies across four key pillars: trust, leadership, fairness, and responsibility. Among the top 10 companies, Toyota led in the Trust and Leadership pillars and ranked among the top performers in Fairness and Responsibility, a testament to its enduring reliability, strong customer relationships, and values-driven business model. Established by Kantar and Wright Communications in 2015, the Corporate Reputation Index uses Kantar's RepZ framework to assess standardised reputation attributes of a business. This award belongs to the people who bring Toyota to life every day, from our National Customer Centre in Palmerston North, through to our Vehicle Operations Plant in Thames, and the 60 Toyota Stores rooted in communities across Aotearoa, New Zealand. But it's also thanks to the thousands of customers who choose Toyota and give us the opportunity to earn their trust through every interaction,' says Ishikawa. 'Our ambition has always been to be more than just a car company. We want to be a trusted partner in our customers' lives and a responsible contributor to New Zealand's future whether that's through safer vehicles and educated drivers on our roads, lower emissions, or stronger local connections. 'Toyota Stores don't just invest in their businesses; they also invest in the communities they're part of. From supporting local sports clubs to mental health and wellbeing initiatives, local conservation efforts to youth development, our Stores are committed to making a meaningful difference. We recognise their efforts through our annual Citizenship Awards and complement this local impact with national initiatives that support safer roads and stronger communities across New Zealand.' Tatsuya Ishikawa says Toyota's strong regional presence reinforces its commitment to customers and communities. The Thames-based centre handles certification and fleet fit-outs, while the National Customer Centre in Palmerston North is home to nearly 350 team members. It supports a 24-hour parts service and houses Toyota's award-winning contact centre, known for its extensive product knowledge and customer care. 'At our core, we're a mobility company but it's the strength of our relationship with customers that drives our success. He says Toyota is reimagining mobility in New Zealand, with a future where getting from A to B is not only cleaner and more affordable, but also more reliable and tailored to people's individual needs. 'At Toyota, we embrace the philosophy of kaizen, a commitment to continuous improvement. It's a simple idea, but a powerful one. We believe reputation is earned one decision, one relationship, one interaction at a time.' This recognition follows Toyota being awarded the Reader's Digest 'Most Trusted Car Brand' in New Zealand for the 20th consecutive year.

Toyota brings its commercial range to Fieldays 2025

Toyota New Zealand is back at Fieldays 2025, presenting the biggest line-up of vehicles yet. The spotlight this year is on commercial vehicles and accessories. Toyota says it is celebrating the trusted workhorses that Kiwis use on the job. Visitors will get to view the likes of the Hilux Hybrid, Land Cruiser 70 and 300, Prado, Hiace, and RAV4. Andrew Davis, Chief Strategic Officer at Toyota New Zealand said: 'We have a vehicle for everyone. Fieldays is the perfect place to showcase the capability, durability and reliability that Toyota is known for. 'Our commercial line-up is built for the real world, to support the Kiwis who are out there getting the job done. Toyota's Fieldays site also features a comprehensive range of accessories. The team is keeping a few surprises under wraps for the event. However, accessories remain a big part of the Fieldays experience, and Toyota says it has plenty in store. Toyota's newest Brand Guardian is also attending Fieldays for the first time. Richie McCaw has partnered with Toyota, strengthening its opportunity to connect with New Zealanders in the community. It is engaging at a grassroots level and solidifying its position as the brand with which to partner. Toyota has also recently announced a partnership with New Zealand Rugby. It welcomes other Brand Guardians as well. These include Willie Apiata, VC, Dame Valerie Adams, Matt Watson, Emma Twigg, Paddy Gower, and David Liti. Joinging them is the crew from The Weekend Mish. Toyota is giving visitors the chance to meet sporting legends, television personalities, everyday heroes and storytellers who represent the heart of the Toyota brand. Former Black Fern, Kendra Cocksedge, will also join the team on Thursday, while former All Black and local hero, Stephen Donald, will be at the stand on Friday. Toyota is making it even easier to drive away in a new workhorse. Buy any new Hilux or select Land Cruiser 70 series model and choose between either $2500 worth of accessories or 3.5 per cent finance. This Fieldays offer is available now through to 31 August 2025.

V8 Cruiser finally finished

Toyota New Zealand has confirmed the death of the Land Cruiser 70 V8. Concrete pumpers and Southern farmers were seen wiping away the odd tear today as the news broke. Although they say it was merely a bit of dust on the retina causing their watery eyes. Toyota NZ has now reduced the LC 70 range to four core models, all powered by the 1GD four pot 2.8-litre diesel. This makes a similar amount of power as the V8 (150kW) and a lot more torque (500Nm v 430). But don't worry old timer, it's not a hybrid. However, it only comes hooked to an auto, which might not sit well with some. That the four cylinder LC emits less carbon dioxide per km will likely be lost on those living in the manosphere who think it's irrelevant what New Zealand does in the scheme of planetary emissions. Andrew Davis, Chief Strategic Officer, said the time had come to finally retire the V8-powered Land Cruiser 70. Read more 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser 70 LT Double Cab review 'We acknowledge it was a legendary powertrain, but we are confident the complete switch to the 1GD four-cylinder and auto transmission gives a better option for customers. This powertrain will offer better in-use performance with a smoother operation and better ride quality which customers have been quick to praise' he says. The four grades of the LC 70 line up are the LT ute with either a two-door single cab or four-door double cab, the LX double cab ute and the LX wagon.
