Toyota had recently updated the Urban Cruiser Hyryder with a starting price of ₹ 11.34 lakh. The update brought in several features upgrades as well as new variants were introduced. The new 2025 Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder has received a plethora of features. Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder: Features Toyota has introduced a number of updates to the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. In the higher trims, an 8-way power driver seat and ventilated front seats have been included to add convenience, especially on longer journeys or hot weather. In the meantime, rear door sunshades, ambient lighting, type-C USB fast-charging ports (15W) and LED spot and reading lamps, have also been included in the list. What's new The Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) has been extended to additional variants for improved real-time monitoring, while some versions also show air quality levels within the cabin. Toyota has also improved the speedometer for enhanced readability and added new dual-tone exterior colour options in some trims. On the safety front, the 2025 Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is reported to receive structural upgrades on all variants for enhanced safety. Six airbags are also now a standard feature on all variants, and Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) has been included in automatic transmission on some variants. Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder: Specs The top-spec V trim of the 2025 Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder now comes equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission, which comes paired with an all-wheel drive (AWD) system. However, the AWD version doesn't come with a five-speed manual gearbox. Under the hood, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV comes powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that also comes mated to a CNG powertrain and hybrid technology. The petrol-only and CNG variants of the SUV get a five-speed manual and a six-speed automatic gearbox options. It can generate between 87 bhp and 102 bhp of power and torque output between 121 Nm and 136.8 Nm. In the hybrid version, the engine comes mated to an e-Drive transmission unit. It offers 91 bhp of power and up to 141 Nm of maximum torque. The only update made to the spec sheet of the Hyryder is the addition of a 6-speed Automatic Transmission (6AT) in AWD variant, replacing the previously available 5-speed manual gearbox. Available from July 2025, the new package comes with a range of dealer-fitted accessories. Toyota says the Prestige Package will be available only for a limited time, and customers can visit authorised dealerships to explore the pricing details and place bookings. Inside, the Hyryder is packed with features like a panoramic sunroof, ventilated leather seats, a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, and ambient lighting. Rear seat passengers get added comfort too, thanks to reclining seats, rear AC vents, USB charging ports, and a 60:40 split-folding seat setup. For safety and convenience, the SUV is also equipped with a 360-degree camera system. With over 1 lakh units sold since its debut in 2022, the Hyryder has found strong footing in the Indian SUV market . This limited-run will help new buyers to personalise their vehicle even further. EVs are not as clean as you think, says Akio Toyoda, Chairman of Toyota
Toyota claims that it has sold 27 million hybrids since it launched the first generation of the Toyota Prius in 1997. Akio Toyoda, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Toyota, claims that these 27 million cars are greener than nine million fully electric vehicles when adding battery and vehicle production into the equation. In an interview with Automotive News, he added that if these nine million EVs were built in Japan, it would not have been as green as Japan relies mostly on thermal to Toyoda, components required for the manufacture of batteries needed in EVs can have a negative environmental impact. Not to mention, the logistics involved in moving the raw material from the source to manufacturing facilities and then to OEM more he says that the generation of electricity is not exactly done via green methods, with most global economies still heavily reliant on thermal sources for power. He further said in an interview that the conversion of fleets to electric also involves exorbitant costs. Hence, EVs are not the viable choice for the future. To sum it up, then, Toyoda isn't just looking at the localised impact of electric vehicles limited to emissions but a more holistic look at the life cycle of the entire vehicle from production to the post life impact. On the other hand, Toyoda says that hybrid vehicles seem to be more apt for the future where it is a best of both world where self-charging hybrids prove to be a practical and greener way to drive. These days, Toyota offers a hybrid variant across nearly every Toyota model manufacturers have also shown a bit of a slowdown when it comes to electric vehicles. While General Motors has pushed back the plans for the GM Silverado EV, Ford has also acknowledged an unexpected decline in consumer demand for EVs. According to reports, even Elon Musk's Tesla too has been suffering. Sales declined in both the U.S. and China. Tesla sold 38,588 vehicles in China in May, a 30.11 per cent decrease from the 55,215 units sold in the same month last year, according to data released today by the China Passenger Car Association. In India, Toyota also relies heavily on hybrids rather than going full electric. It currently offers the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, which promises to offer 27.97kmpl thanks to it being a hybrid. The Hyryder is priced between Rs 17.68 lakh and Rs 27.97 lakh. Toyota also offers the Toyota Innova Hycross, which is once again a proper hybrid and is powered by the TNGA hybrid petrol engine with E-drive transmission. Maruti Suzuki Fronx To Toyota Hyryder: Top 5 Exported SUVs In FY2025
In the fiscal year 2025, India's automotive industry achieved the best report for exports of utility vehicles (UVs), including SUVs and MPVs by exporting 362,160 units. This represents a remarkable 54% increase compared to the previous year, highlighting India's growing status as a global manufacturing and export hub for SUVs. Top 5 Exported SUVs in FY2025 Maruti Suzuki Fronx: The Maruti Suzuki Fronx topped the export list, with 69,133 units shipped, marking an impressive 364% increase from last year. This compact crossover is in high demand, especially in Japan, where it features a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine and all-wheel drive. Maruti Suzuki Jimny: The Jimny came in second, exporting 47,982 units, a 116% rise from the previous year. Its popularity, particularly in markets that appreciate compact off-road vehicles, helped boost its exports. Until recently, Suzuki produced the 3-door Jimny exclusively for export to left- and right-hand-drive countries in Africa and the Middle East. Starting in October 2023, the company also began exporting the 5-door version to Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. Honda Elevate: The Honda Elevate has become the third best-selling SUV for exports, with 45,167 units sent overseas. This is a significant increase of 340% from the previous fiscal year, showing its growing popularity in international markets. In FY2025, the Elevate moved up seven spots from its previous tenth position in FY2024. A major factor in its success is its sales in Japan, where it is known as the WR-V. Honda Elevate Nissan Magnite: The Nissan Magnite ranked fourth, with 29,155 units exported, which is a 213% increase from last year. Its attractive pricing and rich features have made it a favorite in various global markets. Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder: The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder ranked fifth in exports, with 27,623 units shipped, marking a 59% increase from last year. Based on the Maruti Grand Vitara, this SUV has become popular in global markets that value dependable and efficient midsize vehicles. This rise in SUV exports shows India's growing significance in the global automotive industry. Companies like Maruti Suzuki, Honda, Nissan, and Toyota are leading the way, as Indian-made SUVs increasingly satisfy international demand.
