Malaysia will continue to engage with the US for a 'mutually beneficial' trade agreement after President Donald Trump threatened to impose a 25% tariff on the Southeast Asian nation, higher than the 24% announced in April. 'Malaysia is committed to continuing engagement with the US towards a balanced, mutually beneficial, and comprehensive trade agreement,' the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry said in a statement.

UAE supplies 40.8% of Japan's oil imports in May
TOKYO: The United Arab Emirates was Japan's top crude oil supplier in May 2025, providing Tokyo with 30.42 million barrels of crude oil, according to official Japanese data. This volume accounted for 40.8% of Japan's total crude oil imports for the month, based on figures released by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. In total, Japan imported 74.61 million barrels of crude oil in May, with Arab oil making up the vast majority at 90.9% or 67.81 million barrels.

Japan Factory Output Rose in May, But Tariffs Cloud Outlook
TOKYO–Japan's industrial production increased modestly in May, but the rebound is likely to be temporary due to the impact of U.S. tariffs and concerns over a global slowdown. Japan May factory output rises 0.5% month-on-month
TOKYO, June 30 (Reuters) - Japan's factory output rose 0.5% in May from the previous month, less than a median market forecast for a 3.5% rise, government data showed on Monday. Manufacturers surveyed by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry expect seasonally adjusted output to rise 0.3% in June and fall 0.7% in July.
