Rounding off the opening weekend events, a family friendly disco will be hosted on the Sunday, featuring DJ Paul Maffia. This will run from 2pm until 5pm. The market will also be showing the Wimbledon Finals throughout the weekend. The new development includes 16 individual food and retail units, a double-sided bar and a large events space - there are currently 12 vendors signed up for the launch. The outside area of the market will see a raised and covered decking area, which will allow space for visitors to dine outdoors. RELATED STORIES Cllr Jason McLellan, Leader of the Council and Lead Member for Economic Growth & Tackling Deprivation, said: 'Beginning on opening day, there is a stellar line up of free events and entertainment set up for the opening weekend at the Queen's Market. "The site has been an integral feature of Rhyl since 1902, and we are so excited for its latest chapter, and to open the Market doors to the public." Andrew Burnett and Jordan Burnett, directors at Midlands Events (Rhyl) are the operators of the space. Mr Burnett said: 'We are really pleased with what is on offer for the opening weekend. We have a good variety of free and exciting entertainment, which will compliment what our vendors have to offer. The Queen's Market project has received funding from the Welsh Government, largely through its Transforming Towns Programme. The project has received funding from UK Government's SPF funding. It has also received funding from UK Government through the Pride of Place and Natural Environment: Rhyl, Prestatyn & Denbigh Programme. The project is also funded by Denbighshire County Council. The journey to create the new food hall and market - which boasts street food, cakes and treats, 'make your own gin', as well as a leisure space with shuffleboard, darts, football tables, a double-sided bar, booths to relax and watch TV, and a large flexible events space - has faced challenges and hurdles, but despite setbacks, Tony Ward, Corporate Director for Economy and Environment at Denbighshire County Council, said the local authority had "no intentions of ever giving up on this." The idea to redevelop the former Queen's buildings - including the Savoy Hotel and Fusion nightclub - first emerged in 2018. Denbighshire County Council acquired the dilapidated seafront buildings in 2019. The buildings had no active uses on upper floors (the seafront buildings are four stories) and significant void levels on the ground floor. Jayne Bryant MS, Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government, said: 'Benefitting from around £6.5m worth of Welsh Government support through Transforming Towns funding, I am pleased to see the development of Queen's Market, a key site in the redevelopment of Rhyl town centre. "This lively new space offers a range of retail and food outlets, an events area and outdoor dining. "It will create jobs, increase visitors, and breathe new life into the town centre."

Opening Date Announced for Rhyl's Queen's Market
The new Queen's Market in Rhyl will officially open its doors to the public on July 10. The Queen's Market buildings have been an iconic landmark in the centre of Rhyl since 1902 and have provided a variety of uses for the town throughout the years. The new development includes 16 individual food and retail units, a double-sided bar and a large events space, and will be an integral community space right in the heart of Rhyl, Denbighshire County Council said. To celebrate the opening of the venue, a series of celebratory opening weekend events will be held each day from Thursday July 10 up until the end of the weekend. The internal fit out of the Market is now reaching the final stages, with final preparations being made ahead of opening the venue. Councillor Jason McLellan, Leader of the Council and Lead Member for Economic Growth & Tackling Deprivation, said: 'This venue will bring a fresh, modern and exciting offer to Rhyl and Denbighshire as a whole, and plays a major role in our regeneration efforts in the area by creating jobs and increasing footfall in Rhyl. 'The Market has great public transport links and is walking distance from both the high street and the beach. 'Queen's Market will be a hub for the community and will feature high-quality food, drink and retail options, as well as a state of the art, modern events space, which will be used to host concerts, markets, comedians, events and more. 'The building is opening right in time for summer, and just before the start of the summer holidays, one of the busiest times for footfall and tourism in the area. We are inviting all residents of Rhyl, and further afield, to come along to the opening weekend and discover what this new venue can offer them.' Andrew Burnett, Director at Midlands Events (Rhyl) Limited, said: 'We have a fantastic mix of high-quality food retailers, a themed bar and a full weekend of fantastic entertainment planned for the opening weekend. 'We look forward to welcoming all customers to come along to relax, eat good food, have a relaxing drink and enjoy the free entertainment we have planned over the weekend. 'We are very proud of the venue we have created and look forward to welcoming everyone on site.' Town Centre Projects Benefit from Extra Regeneration Funding
The Welsh Government is providing an additional £31.5 million to local authorities to deliver regeneration projects in town centres across Wales. The funding will be used by nine local authorities to help deliver projects such as Y Storfa in Swansea, the Queen's Market in Rhyl and the demolition of Newport Leisure Centre. This extra funding was confirmed by the Welsh Government at the end of the last financial year, bringing the total investment for 2024/25 to £70 million. Since its launch in 2020, the Transforming Towns programme has awarded more than £314 million in grant and loan funding to support regeneration across Wales. All 22 local authorities receive funding from the Transforming Towns programme. The Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government, Jayne Bryant, recently visited a number of regeneration projects in Llanelli which have benefitted from Transforming Towns funding. She said: 'Projects like the YMCA or the library in Llanelli town centre are a fantastic example of how Transforming Town funding can be used to bring empty and underused buildings back into active use, revitalising public spaces. 'It's so important that we continue to create places that serve the needs of local communities while celebrating their unique heritage and character. That way, we can support communities' future while also championing their past.' Carmarthenshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism – Cllr Hazel Evans said: 'We welcome the additional funding being made available to our towns, through the Welsh Government's Transforming Towns Programme. 'The funding that we have already received has enabled the county council to redevelop and deliver more retail sites, housing for local residents and improved facilities in Ammanford, Carmarthen and Llanelli town centres.' The Welsh Government has protected budgets for the Transforming Towns Programme, with £40 million available for 2025/26.
