Footage of the horrifying incident swarmed several social media platforms, sparking debate and concern over the safety of citizens residing in the city. According to CNN Brazil, the suspect reportedly approached four homeless people, specifically one woman and three men to whom he offered drinks, outside a shop near a beach in Mongaguá. The clip was captured by a nearby surveillance camera which showcased the man holding a weapon with one victim on the ground who he attempted to kick. He then opened fire at several victims who attempted to run away from the scene in fear. One victim suffered a gunshot in the chest and left arm while the other sustained injuries in the abdomen and left arm. The woman also suffered a gunshot in her left leg. The woman told the Brazilian outlet Tribuna, "He arrives with a revolver and shoots everyone. Out of nowhere,' she said. 'I don't know him either, I've never seen him around here."
