Area commander, four members of banned outfit held in Hazaribagh
An area commander and four members of the banned militant group Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) were arrested by police on the night of June 12 during a search operation in Taraheta forest, Jharkhand's Hazaribagh. On June 12, police received information around 9pm that some TSPC members were planning an attack, said Superintendent of Police Anjani Anja. A joint operation was carried out under the leadership of Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Amit Anand, with assistance from the armed forces and the anti-Naxal branches. Police suspected that the arrested individuals are linked to a June 1 incident that took place in Hazaribagh's Keredari area. The TSPC members intercepted and set fire to two trucks near a mining company's site, leaving behind a letter signed by one 'Kaushal ji'. The letter warned of 'consequences' if the companies refused to initiate a dialogue with the group. An SIT was already investigating the case. Police identified one of the arrested individuals as Awadhesh Kumar alias Prashant ji (Palamu district), who is an area commander of the TSPC. Kumar is also named in multiple criminal cases registered at Katkamsandi and Katkamdag police stations. The other four arrested are Aditya Ganjhu, Deven Ganjhu, and Dharam Ganjhu (Chatra); and Rooplal Ganjhu of Masuria (Hazaribagh). Police also recovered one AR-15 M4 American carbine rifle, one magazine, three country-made firearms, a country-made pistol of 7.62 mm, live cartridges of various calibers, nine mobile phones and pamphlets. Maoist commander arrested, cache of arms recovered in Jharkhand's Chatra
Chatra (Jharkhand): The Jharkhand Police have arrested a senior Maoist leader and recovered a huge cache of ammunition from a forest in Chatra district, officials said. Arjun Ganjhu, a top commander of the banned Maoist outfit Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC), was apprehended during a raid in Tikda village under the Lawalong police station area. Acting on a tip-off about his movement, a special team led by Simaria SDPO Shubham Khandelwal conducted the operation and nabbed the militant. Chatra Superintendent of Police Sumit Agrawal informed during a press conference on Tuesday that a country-made pistol was recovered from Ganjhu at the time of his arrest. Following interrogation, he revealed the location of a hidden arms cache in a nearby forest. A search led to the recovery of 723 live cartridges concealed underground in a box. The cache included 477 rounds of INSAS rifle ammunition and 246 rounds of .303 rifle cartridges -- indicating preparations for potential attacks or supply to other cadres in the region. SP Agrawal said the recovery dealt a blow to the operational capabilities of the TSPC in the area. Ganjhu is a repeat offender and had previously been jailed for involvement in Maoist-related activities. In a separate operation, Lohardaga Police arrested another absconding Maoist, Lalind Mahato alias Rajkumar Yadav, who had been evading capture for several years. Lalind, a resident of Semardih village in Kisko police station limits, has multiple cases lodged against him in Lohardaga, Latehar, and other districts of Jharkhand. Lohardaga SP Sadique Anwar Rizvi said that Lalind was associated with the squad of Ravindra Ganjhu, a zonal commander of the CPI (Maoist), who carries a bounty of Rs 15 lakh on his head. Police believe that Lalind's arrest could yield crucial intelligence about Maoist activities and logistics in the region. After his court appearance, preparations are being made to send him to judicial custody.

Bail for TSPC regional commander
Ranchi: The Jharkhand high court on Monday granted bail to Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) regional commander Kohram. Kohram was granted bail by a division bench of Justices Rongon, Mukhopadhayay and Pradeep Kumar Srivastava. He was said to have been allegedly involved in terror funding case and demanding extortion from coal contractors and officials of private companies operating in the Amrapali Coal Project at Tandwa in Chatra district. Kohram's advocate said other accused in the present case registered with the Sadar police station in Chatra have been granted bail by the High Court. Therefore, for the sake of parity, Kohram should also be granted bail. Kohram, wanted in 37 cases, has been leading the Maoist splinter group in the state.

Two TSPC rebels held in Ranchi
Ranchi: Ranchi police on Monday nabbed two Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) ultras from Binja village under Budmu police station limits. "The arrested TSPC rebels are Sumit Lahiri and Manu Singh. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now A pistol, an air rifle, two cartridges, and TSPC pamphlets were seized from them," DIG cum Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha said. "Lahiri is an accused in half a dozen cases ,including murder, extortion, arson, ransacking, and firing to create terror under various police station limits of the district. Singh has no criminal antecedents but was working for TSPC under Lahiri's influence," DIG Sinha said. Lahiri was getting treated for a leg injury on the border of Budmu and Barkagaon police station limits when a team led by DSP Khalari arrested him. Lahiri was jailed in 2024 but again joined the TSPC after coming out. He was involved in extremist incidents in Hendegir, Binja, Chapar, Urimari, Barkagaon, and Patraru areas. Lahiri increased his activities after TSPC area commander Diwakar Ganjhu was arrested a week ago. He was injured while trying to escape a police raid three days ago. A case was registered under sections 308(3), 308(4), 308(5), and 3(5) of BNS and sections 25(1-8), 9, 26, and 35 of the Arms Act and section 17 of the CLA Act against the accused persons with Budmu PS in connection with the arrest.

To intimidate mining companies, Maoists set truck ablaze in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh
Armed members of the banned Maoist outfit Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) intercepted and set ablaze a mining truck in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh district Sunday evening, in what police believe was a deliberate attempt to intimidate mining companies. They also fired indiscriminately and left a threat letter targeting major mining companies. Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee is a banned outfit that is splinter group of the erstwhile Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) – a Maoist outfit that fused with the People's War Group in September 2004 to make the present-day Communist Party of India (Maoist). The incident occurred around 8:20 pm near a site operated by BGR Company, where two Scania trucks were engaged in dumping operations. According to the police, 4-5 armed men approached the vehicles, forced drivers to get down, and roughed up a driver who resisted and eventually fired indiscriminately. The driver who was roughed up allegedly sustained minor injuries to his neck. Vicky Thakur, Pagar Outpost incharge under Keredari police station, said: 'After dousing the vehicle with petrol and setting it ablaze, the insurgents left behind a pamphlet in the name of one Kaushal ji, identifying themselves as TSPC members. The letter warned all mining lease holders, including DO holder mines and outsourced mining operators, to initiate dialogue with the group or face 'serious consequences'. 'They've named NTPC, CCL, L&T, and others in the pamphlet and said operations without prior negotiation would invite action. It's mostly addressed to operators of outsourced mines, although regular work continues,' he said. The pamphlet allegedly invoked Marxist ideology and challenged the legitimacy of police presence, stating that law enforcement does not exist for the interests of corporations and that 'criminal action' would follow any attempt to bypass the group's conditions. Security has since been intensified in the area, and police have launched a probe to identify and apprehend those involved. 'A formal report has been filed, and patrolling around key mining zones has been increased,' Thakur said. The injured driver, identified as Gautam Dubey, is associated with the mining vehicle operations and is currently stable.
