Cowboys Legend Mourns Passing of 'Friend' Hulk Hogan
Cowboys Legend Mourns Passing of 'Friend' Hulk Hogan originally appeared on Athlon Sports. FRISCO — Many were saddened by the sudden death of wrestling and pop culture icon Terry "Hulk Hogan" Bollea on Thursday. Popular musicians, movie stars, athletes and influencers took to social media almost immediately following the news to discuss memories and sadness of Bollea's passing. Dallas Cowboys legendary quarterback, broadcaster and Hall of Famer Troy Aikman was no exception. "From a fan to a friend—working with Hulk Hogan for a few years was a thrill and a privilege. He was every bit the showman and entertainer we all grew up watching. Rest in peace, Hulk," Aikman posted on his X account. Hogan helped make wrestling one of the most popular sports of the 1980s and was a significant piece of turning it into a national pastime. Before Hogan's popularity, wrestling in the United States was largely regionalized. But WWF and Hogan changed all that. Hogan headlined eight of the first nine WrestleManias and helped turn WCW into a global brand in the 1990s. "Wrestling as we know it was built on Hulk Hogan. Sure, there were other superstars before him, but Hogan was the first, by my estimation, to be over, worldwide," said wrestling insider Colby Sapp of The Colby Sapp & IndyCarTim Show. "He might have had his troubles, but it doesn't change how many of us ate our vitamins and said our prayers because of him. "They call John Cena the G.O.A.T. right now. I think the greatest of all time is the one who just passed away. Was he a great human? There are stories out there. ... Was he possibly the greatest to ever slap on the gear? Yup!" During the height of his popularity in the 90s, Hogan collaborated with several top athletes — including Aikman — in commercials and other entertainment ventures. Aikman and Hogan headlined several Rent-A-Center commercials, and the two quickly became friends. Aikman was the No. 1 overall pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 1989 and formed one-third of the 1990s "triplets" in Dallas alongside wideout Michael Irvin and running back Emmitt Smith. Those Cowboys were the first team to win three Super Bowls in four seasons and were one of the top franchises of the decade. Aikman retired after the 2000 season, ending his career early due to concussions and injuries. Hogan went on to wrestle in the WWE after returning in 2002 and made appearances for the company over the past 20 years. Aaron Rodgers Breaks Social Media Hiatus for 1st Time After Surprising Marriage
Aaron Rodgers has returned to social media after tying the knot. In a Wednesday, July 2, Instagram post, Rodgers, 41, was all smiles while posing with fellow Pittsburgh Steelers teammates Scotty Miller, Ben Skowronek, Pat Freiermuth, Calvin Austin III, DeKaylin Metcalf and Roman Wilson. 'Summerball,' Rodgers captioned the upload. News broke in June that Rodgers agreed to a one-year contract with the NFL team after spending two seasons with the New York Jets. In NFL legend Troy Aikman's mind, he hopes that Rodgers is able to 'recapture some of his form' with the Steelers in the fall. (Rodgers tore his Achilles in his first game with the Jets in 2023.) Why Aaron Rodgers' 1st Official Picture as a Pittsburgh Steeler Is Continuing to Spark Engagement Rumors 'I think it's a good fit, actually,' Aikman, 58, told Us Weekly in a cover story. ESPN reported that Rodgers visited the Steelers' practice facility in March but remained tight-lipped about his future plans. 'I wasn't stringing anyone along,' Rodgers said during an April appearance on ESPN's The Pat McAfee Show. 'I wasn't holding anyone hostage. I was honest from the jump about where I was at mentally and some of the constraints I have in my life right now that warrant my attention.' Rodgers continued, 'I'm open to anything and attached to nothing. Retirement could still be a possibility, but right now my focus has been — and will continue to be — on my personal life. And that's what I've told the coaches. There's still conversations that are being had. It's all been very honest lines of communication.' Pittsburgh Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers Reveals He's Married After Ring Speculation The same month Rodgers joined the Steelers, he revealed he secretly exchanged vows when asked about a black band on his left finger during a meeting with reporters at Steelers minicamp. 'It's a wedding ring,' he said while sharing that he exchanged vows a 'couple months ago.' Rodgers did not reveal the identity of his partner at the time. He announced in April that he was in a 'serious relationship' while appearing on The Pat McAfee Show. 'I have off-the-field stuff going on that requires my attention,' he said at the time. 'I have personal commitments not knowing what my future was going to look like after last year that are important to me.' Rodgers added, 'I have a lot of things that are taking my attention and have, beginning in January, away from football. That's been where I've been focusing most of my attention.'

Two days after floods moved through the Texas Hill Country, over 50 people have died including many children. The area is populated with several summer camps, attended by children from all around the state of Texas. The search persists for 27 girls from Camp Mystic, an all-girls camp near the Guadalupe River. The river surged over its banks on Friday, leading to dangerous flooding around the area. 'It is my hope that miracles still happen," Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said on Sunday, according to NBC. Patrick said that there have been long searches through previous storms, and that they've been able to rescue people who have traveled 10 or 15 miles downstream. He also noted that over 800 people have been rescued in the Still, the lieutenant governor acknowledged that the situation is bleak - and that it's getting worse as more time passes. 'There is this line you have to walk of making sure people have hope, those who are missing their children,' he said. 'At the same time, you don't want to exaggerate those hopes, so you have to be as candid as you can be.' The search and rescue efforts in central Texas are immense. One volunteer noted that people from six states have come in to help.
