Why a top Cabinet secretary was glaringly missing during Trump's marathon meeting with his closest advisers

One of the most prominent and publicly-recognized members of President Donald Trump 's Cabinet was missing from Tuesday's meeting at the White House. Health and Human Service Secretary Robert F. Kennedy was glaring absent from the table at the president's marathon sit down in the Cabinet Room. Kennedy was on international travel, a spokesperson said. 'Due to long-planned international travel, the Secretary couldn't attend today's Cabinet meeting. However, he remains in constant contact with HHS leadership and today took decisive action by declaring a public health emergency for the State of Texas,' an HHS spokesperson told Daily Mail. No additional details were given. Trump held the sixth Cabinet meeting of his administration. Other prominent secretaries - including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Attorney General Pam Bondi and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth - were present to chat with the president about the work of his administration. Kennedy is one of the most notorious and controversial cabinet members. His controversial views on vaccines has led to some accusing him of spreading misinformation on the issue. In fact several leading medical groups are suing Kennedy over changes to federal COVID-19 vaccine recommendations. The suit - which includes the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Physicians and the American Public Health Association - was filed in federal court and asks for a reversal of Kennedy's decision to remove pregnant women and healthy children from the COVID-19 vaccine schedule. Kennedy has pushed a Make America Healthy Again agenda - a play off Trump's campaign slogan of Make America Great Again. But even that plan came under fire when the news outlet NOTUS reported that seven of the more than 500 studies cited in the HHS report - which decried America's food supply, pesticides and prescription drugs - did not appear to have ever been published. The administration shrugged it off as 'formatting issues.' President Trump has been supportive of his health secretary. Kennedy is also moving to ban dyes in food and fluoride in water. The son of the late Attorney General Robert Kennedy made his own presidential bid as a Democrat before dropping out of the contest and endorsing Trump.

Judge Boasberg orders Rubio to refer Trump officials' Signal messages to DOJ to ensure preservation

A federal judge on Friday ordered Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is also serving as the acting archivist, to collect any Signal messages belonging to top Trump officials that could be at risk of deletion and to refer those messages to the Department of Justice for further review. Judge James Boasberg said his hands were tied beyond that and that he could not do anything about Signal messages that had already been deleted. Boasberg's order came in response to a watchdog group suing five of President Donald Trump's Cabinet members, including Rubio, after the Atlantic published a story revealing their Signal chat discussing imminent plans to conduct airstrikes against the Houthis in Yemen. Boasberg, who has become one of Trump's top judicial nemeses because of his rulings in an unrelated immigration case, said the court record shows that the five Trump officials "have thus far neglected to fulfill their duties" under the Federal Records Act. The judge said American Oversight, the left-leaning watchdog that brought the lawsuit, made a strong case that the Cabinet officials have used Signal, an encrypted messaging app, to communicate for work purposes and that they have allowed the messages to auto-delete, likely rendering them permanently lost. But in the context of the Federal Records Act, Boasberg said he had limited options to address American Oversight's allegations aside from demanding that Rubio ask Attorney General Pam Bondi to ensure compliance with the law for existing Signal messages that were at risk of deletion. Chioma Chukwu, executive director of American Oversight, indicated in a statement that the group's lawsuit was over for now but that it was "fully prepared" to sue again if it found the Trump administration failed to comply with Boabsberg's order. "It should never have required court intervention to compel the acting Archivist and other agency heads to perform their basic legal duties, let alone to refer the matter to the Attorney General for enforcement," Chukwu said. The explosive Signal incident involved Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, and others communicating about their attack plans in a chat group after then-National Security Adviser Mike Walz apparently accidentally added an Atlantic journalist to the chat. The Trump administration denied wrongdoing and insisted the communication was not "classified." Bondi dodged a question during a press conference about investigating the incident and instead doubled down on the White House's claims that the chat was merely "sensitive" and not "classified." The Pentagon inspector general launched an investigation into the incident in April in response to a bipartisan request from the Senate Armed Services Committee.

EXCLUSIVE Trump's two most popular Cabinet secretaries are the ones who clashed with Elon Musk

Two of President Donald Trump 's most popular cabinet secretaries clashed with Elon Musk during his 130-day period at the White House as a special advisor to the president. Secretary of State Marco Rubio now has a 37 percent favorable rating, according to the latest Daily Mail tracking poll conducted with J.L. Partners. Thirty-five percent view his as unfavorable while 29 percent have no opinion. In March, Rubio and Musk reportedly was 'incensed' after Musk said he had fired 'nobody' in his agency, according to the New York Times. Rubio fired back, noting that 1,500 State Department officials took early retirement in buyouts. He also laid out his plan to reorganize the State Department to be more efficient. Musk shot back, noting that Rubio was 'good on TV' but indicated that it was all for show. 'Rubio never liked him, but a lot of them did not like him,' a person familiar with the dynamics of the president's cabinet told the Daily Mail. The State Department dismissed the claim. 'Nobody has time for silly gossip. Secretary Rubio is completely focused on carrying out the President's agenda on behalf of the American people,' a senior State Department official told the Daily Mail. Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent also has a positive net approval rating. Nineteen percent of voters in the poll signaled approval for Bessent while 17 percent gave him an unfavorable approval rating. But 64 percent of voters in the poll noted they did not have an option of Bessent or had never heard of him. Bessent most notably clashed with Musk in a shouting match in the West Wing over Bessent's choice to lead the IRS over Musk's preferred choice. Details of the disagreement leaked into the media, as both men reportedly shouted at each other as reports described the scene as 'quite loud.' Trump denied reports that Musk actually physically body-checked Bessent. 'No, I didn't. They did have an argument but I didn't see a lot of physicality there,' he said. Musk leaves the White House with is approval ratings heavily damaged. Although 34 percent still approve of Musk, 56 percent disapprove of him while just 10 percent do not have an option of him. Despite their public feud that blew up last week, Trump said he still hoped they would get along. I wish him well, you understand. We had a good relationship,' he said Monday. 'And I just wish him well. Very well actually.' Thirty one percent of voters in the poll sided with Trump in the feud while just 23 percent sided with Musk. In the feud between Trump and Musk, Republicans side with Trump over Musk 59/12. Democrats side with Musk over Trump 35/10 and unaffiliated voters narrowly side with Trump 26/20. The poll included 1,006 registered voters questioned on June 6, and had a 3.1 percent margin of error.
