Legendary 70s rock band tease reunion tour after retiring over serious injury

Aerosmith's founding member Joe Perry has teased a possible reunion tour, which would come as a shock to fans after frontman Steven Tyler's vocal issues. Last year the I Don't Want To Miss A Thing hitmakers announced they would not be touring again after Steven, 77, damaged his vocal cords during the band's Peace Out tour in 2023. 10 months into their Peace Out Farewell Tour – which saw a string of concerts rescheduled – the band announced Steven's 'recovery from his vocal injury is not possible' and said they had made the 'heartbreaking and difficult decision' to retire from touring. Following a one-off charity performance in February, former Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum shared an update on his friend Steven, saying: 'Now, is he going to tour again? No, he's not. 'Because, and I explained this to people, Steven cannot put himself under the rigors of doing a full worldwide tour because there's a lot of pressure.' Now, Aerosmith guitarist Joe has given fresh hope for fans of the 70s rock band in an interview on the SiriusXM show Trunk Nation. 'I don't know man. We're talking about it. We're all alive and well, so we will just have to see,' he said of future gigs. 'I know there's going to be at least another Aerosmith gig, and I'm not looking forward to putting the setlist together for that one.' Asked whether Steven would be up to – and up for – it, Joe said: 'I think he would, but it's a matter of getting there. We're up there man, and it's a lot. 'With Covid and everyone being home for that length of time, it was like, 'Oh, so this is how other people live. Sleeping in your own bed every night.' 'I don't think I've gone a year without something on the calendar and having to be somewhere. So that's the bigger picture. I don't know. I got enough left in me, I still want to do it.' Sharing a statement on social media in August the band thanked fans for their support over the decades. 'It was 1970 when a spark of inspiration became Aerosmith. Thanks to you, our Blue Army, that spark caught flame and has been burning for over five decades. 'Some of you have been with us since the beginning and all of you are the reason we made rock 'n' roll history,' it began. 'It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours. In every club, on every massive tour and at moments grand and private you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives. 'We've always wanted to blow your mind when performing. As you know, Steven's voice is an instrument like no other. 'He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. 'We've seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. 'We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage.' More Trending It concluded: 'We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time. Grateful to our expert crew, our incredible team and the thousands of talented people who've made our historic runs possible. 'A final thank you to you – the best fans on planet Earth. Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You've made our dreams come true.' The band's line-up had mostly remained for much of the past five decades, with the other four members being Joe, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford. Aerosmith is the best-selling American hard rock band of all time, having sold more than 150 million records worldwide, including over 85 million records in the United States. Got a story? had everyone worried. The former KISS guitarist announced on May 21 that he had to pull out of a pair of upcoming shows due to his health. "Hello everyone," he posted on social media. "I wanted to let you all know that I will sadly be unable to perform this weekend on Friday, May 23, at Brat Fest in Madison, Wisconsin, or Saturday, May 24, at the Arcada Theater in St. Charles, Illinois." "Although not serious, I am ill and don't feel that I am capable of the rigorous travel or performing up to my usual standards this weekend," he added. "I extend my deepest regrets and most sincere apologies for having to cancel. I thank you all for your understanding in the matter," wrote the "New York Groove" singer. "Take care of yourself! We are bummed we won't be seeing you on Saturday but your health is far more important," wrote one fan. "Your fans love you and totally understand. Play a show here and there, when you're up to it," added another. "Wishing you a speedy recovery!" commented one follower, while another added, "Get well, Spaceman." Frehley has performed as a solo artist for the past two decades. He rejoined KISS (Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Peter Criss) in 1996 and stayed with the band until 2002. He did not participate in KISS's farewell tour, which concluded in 2023. Frehley released his eighth solo album, 10,000 Volts, in 2024. He said his next release will be a third installment in his Origins series, where he covers songs that inspired him. "I could have it ready [this year]," he said on a February episode of SiriusXM's Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk, per Blabbermouth. "I can do the album in a month because I don't have to write the songs. That's the beauty of the Origins series….All I have to do is Ace-ify it."Legendary Rock Guitarist, 74, Gives Health Update After Canceling Shows first appeared on Parade on May 22, 2025

Rarely seen 80s rock legend unrecognizable as he's spotted on day out in LA – 44 years after smash hit song

AN EIGHTIES music legend looked unrecognisable as he stepped out in Los Angeles. The singer-songwriter, 76, was the lead singer and frontman of an American group, best known for its 1981 hit Don't Stop Believin'. 6 6 Yet Steve Perry left fans doing a double take as he took a stroll in a baggy black logo top and shorts, paired with dark trainers. The Journey hitmaker was seen running errands with a paper bag tucked under his left arm. The California-born singer, who had two stints in the band known for hits Open Arms and Separate Ways, pulled on a pair of sunglasses as he made his way down the street. He appeared to be eager to go incognito, gazing down at the ground with a calm expression on his face as he walked with his new partner. Steve quit Journey for the second time back in 1998, due to personal reasons. At the time, he old SiriusXM station Trunk Nation: "The reason I left is because I was just truly burned out. "My love for music was getting really, really questionable within my heart, and I kind of had to stop. "There was no easy way to stop, leaving the mothership that I had so loved and worked so hard with the guys to build. "It was tough. I didn't tell nobody — I just kept working, and then all of a sudden, it just kind of hit the wall, and I said, 'I can't do this anymore." He also spoke out in 2017 when the band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and simply said: "I am truly grateful that Journey is being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame." Seventies rock legends forced to cancel concert during hit song - months after ditching UK tour last minute The band currently consists of singer Arnel Pineda, guitarist Neal Schon, drummer Deen Castronovo, keyboardist and guitarist Jonathan Cain, bassist Todd Jensen and Jason Derlatka. TRICKY JOURNEY Steve's former band faced a sticky situation in March after they were forced to cancel a gig while performing one of their greatest hits. Journey were performing at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo when an 'electrical incident' occurred. The band were performing one of their biggest hits - Don't Stop Believin' - as the fifth song in their set. But suddenly, power on the stage went off, and initially the crowd continued to sing the lyrics of the 1981 smash hit. However, crew then took to the stage with fire extinguishers and soon after, a statement was released to the fans to reveal the rest of the concert had unfortunately been cancelled. The cancellation came months after Journey cancelled their 2024 UK tour at the last minute. But back in August, with members embroiled in a legal battle, the band gave no explanation as they put the decision down to "circumstances beyond their control". "Due to circumstances beyond the band's control, Journey's UK and Ireland tour is unfortunately cancelled. "Refunds will be made from your point of purchase." The 50th anniversary tour, which had already travelled across the U.S., was set to begin in Cardiff in October and travel to cities including Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham and London. 6 6 6
